The Church of the Beatitudes was built on the traditional location of Jesus’ Sermon On The Mount.

Key Verse: Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Today’s blog title is from a popular Jamaican song. Perhaps “Be Joyful” would be better, as happiness depends on happenings. You may want to read again Matthew 6:25-33.

Joy depends on your faith that Jesus is present. The Apostle Paul, in Philippians 4:11, shared, “I have learned in whatsoever state I am, there to be content.” Being content has nothing to do with material possessions. Knowledge of God’s love and care is enough. Put God first. He’ll provide employment, business opportunities and Good Samaritans when in trouble. All things we really need will come our way. Trust God. He won’t fail you!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God I pray for health, strength and ambition to do my part and to seek Your daily blessings. I am resolved to trust You for my every need. I ask these mercies in Jesus’ Name. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I was 20 years old. Taking a year off from my theological studies to help establish a new congregation seemed like a good idea. I had determined to spend full time in door-to-door evangelism, teaching God’s Word to children, helping needy people cut and pile wood for heat, and cooking for the coming winter, etc., but I had no regular income. One morning I put cornflakes in my bowl but had no money to buy milk. A couple of spoonfuls of dry cornflakes and I had a full-blown “pity party.” I recovered sufficiently to pray and felt I should walk to the Post Office. The clerk handed me one letter, and guess what? Someone blessed me with $5.00. Milk and even brown sugar sure tasted good on my cereal. Yes, later that year I worked in construction and even as a supply teacher in public school. Everything I truly needed was supplied. God is faithful. He never fails!

Written with love & prayer,

David

  1. We strive to be happy, even in the midst of the world’s turmoil. Thank You, Lord, for taking care of us. We pray for You to be with those who are suffering now and protection for those joining in peaceful protests against rampent systemic racism and unnerving police brutality. We pray for you to be with the families of Floyd George and Ahmaud Arbery in the United States, and Chantel Moore in BC Canada, just to name a few. “But lethal force is supposed to be a last resort in a life-or-death situation, not a result of racism.” We place our trust and faith in You and You alone, Lord. We are thankful we can lean on You in times of trouble when these deep seated issues are rising to the surface and need to be healed for a better world. We see Your Hand in it, Lord. We need You now, more than ever, as the world fights back against ignorance and injustice. We pray for a more peaceful, fair, and loving world built on Your righteousness. His blessings upon you, fellow saints in the Lord.

The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot. Proberbs 10:7 ESV. I am your God and will take care of you until you are old and your hair is gray. I made you and will care for you; I will give you help and rescue you. Isaiah 46:4 GNT

  2. Hello to all. Blessings in Christ Jesus to you. Agreeing with you David:-), it’s so easy to have a pity party when things don’t go our way.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem these days. Also praying for the Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu ….may the Lord help him through any trials and tribulations he is facing.
I pray for our governors and our state legislatures. Please give strength and wisdom to them and guide their decisions and may they always put love first. Surround them with people from all walks of life and many backgrounds. Bring to them people of high moral character and spiritual maturity.

Eric Mataxas: Why is racism wrong? Because God loves all of us equally. Jesus is the only answer to our problems, and anyone suggesting we can find unity — racial or otherwise — outside of him is just whistling Dixie.

Have a joyful, peaceful day all saints.

  3. God is confirming His word to me today. I just watched Keith Moore teaching from Matthew 6 earlier this morning. He taught from Matthew 6:25-34
We can choose not to worry and anxious if we do what God says in His word.
Thank you Beverley for the powerful but old hymn, God Will Take Care of You.
I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking not only to me today but for all of the saints that follow David Mainse’s blog.

  4. I love David’s little stories(and his big ones) on faith.Trust in Him was one of my first lessons and messages.A poem might grab your attention but it’s message might be to give you nourishment.Be glad that we are His.Yall be blessed
    Trust Me

Trust Me,I know what I am doing,
It’s not just your heart I am wooing
But your soul is so dear to Me,
I want you with Me for eternity.

Even when your days are very bad,
I share the load that makes you sad,
So do not be angry with Me,
You must trust in Me eternally.

I love all my children most dearly,
And in life I see you clearly,
That is why you are on the Earth,
It is a school and the grave is your birth.

‘I knew you before you were born’,
I would never leave you forlorn,
I know every hair on your head,
Death is not for you to dread.

Life is through my precious Son,
A reward for when your day is done,
So know that this is my gift to you
As you trust Him your life through.

    Surrender

I lay them down in front of you,
For Jesus, that is what I must do
When my burdens become too much,
I surrender them to your gentle touch.

Lord,I give all my troubles to you,
They are yours when my day is through,
Please make them smaller for me
So I am unencumbered and free.

Lord you found me and gave me hope
With new strength that I might cope,
And now I have surrendered to you,
Body and soul to be made anew.

You lifted me up so I could see,
That you were always beside me,
Now I feel grief for the lost years,
But I shall not cry any wasted tears.

So I will lay them at Your holy feet,
For You have made me more complete,
I am yours through the fires of Hell,
With love that Satan’s hordes can’t quell.
    G W(Bill) Marshall/2012
Written, over a year after my ‘surrender’,
on my knees,in my living room.

  5. Dear Lord God, there is no hope but in You. You are the eternal One – Your Kingdom stands and will stand when all else falls. Please help us to put all our trust in You, not in movements or anything else. Your will is good; You take no pleasure in the death of the wicked; it is not Your will that any should perish. Please help all Your people take renewed interest, zeal, motivation, and commitment in loving and serving You, Lord, in Jesus’s name, amen

  6. Some disquieting thoughts on the lawlessness we see in society lately, not just in the U.S., but in Canada’s selective use of the rule of law. This is a comment from Todd Lewis, commenting on Mark Steyn’s June 5th show about the riots in the States:

“To see police and others taking the knee before the mob I believe is an act of religious submission. There has been much commentary about the country being in no less than a civil war. It is more than a civil war, it is a religious war. Civil wars might be civilizationally resolved, but religious wars cannot be. This is where we are.

The Left is entirely religious. Racism has been determined to be original sin, the political narrative has been determined to be holy scripture. Blacks are appointed to be the victims of human sacrifice to sustain the religious order. The cities aflame are their burning altars. All the acolytes must know their catechism cold. If they get it wrong at any point they will be severely disciplined. The kingdom of god is, of course, the totalitarian state.

Religious war is a fact of life. The enemy can come from without or within. I believe men like Charles Martel recognized clearly the external enemy. Others, like Luther, recognized the enemy from within. If we have lost our faith it’s over. Libertarians seem to think the Constitution alone can save us. It’s words alone are empty without the faith that inspired them. Common Law is smoke in the wind without the incubator of faith in which it was formed.

I don’t think the Christian church has fully recognized the war as yet for what it is. One evidence is that many who claim to be Christians have bought into the whole idea of virtue signaling. They actually believe it gives them moral standing and validity, though it is totally vacuous and without conviction and a lot of people know it. It’s not a “witness”. Drew Brees is the latest well-known case in point. But the main thing, in my opinion, is the total corruption of the church’s eschatological doctrine. It has become entirely escapist in it’s ontological trajectory. The church no longer believes it has a redemptive cultural message. It has devolved to a belief in purchasing personal fire insurance policies. The church no longer believes that how the world is governed is any of it’s business. James Madison certainly didn’t believe this. Bill Barr is a religious man. Does he believe that upholding justice is his Christian duty or simply his duty to the state? How do others who hold public offices think in this regard? I believe Clarence Thomas understands his duty is essentially Christian, but how many others do? The Christian faith is being blitzkrieged right now. Will the church respond and face the reality of total war?”

I think these are good questions. When our government leaders take Canada’s founding principles of the rule of law and the supremacy of God as nothing but words on a page to be followed or not; and when our leaders see themselves not as public servants but as dictators accountable only to the U.N, I’d say we’re in trouble as a nation.
Lord God, please raise up Godly leaders throughout this world, in Jesus’s name, amen
