CREATION

Today’s Reading: Psalms 104

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

Gobeklitepe, located in Turkey, is the oldest archeological sanctuary and oldest civilization known to man. It is a series of mainly circular and oval-shaped structures set on the top of a hill. Excavations began in 1995 by Prof. Klaus Schmidt with the help of the German Archeological Institute. There is archelological proof that these installations were not used for domestic use but predominantly for ritual or religious purposes.

Key Verses: Psalm 104:31

May the glory of the Lord endure forever;

May the Lord rejoice in His works.

All the earliest records of the human race show that intelligent people were moved to worship the Creator God (as illustrated by the youtube attachment in our P.S.). Our native people here in Canada and original peoples everywhere speak of “The Great Creator.” When we pause to think deeply, without the brainwashing efforts of those who, for some reason, refuse to believe in God, we cannot escape the conclusion that a supremely intelligent and all-powerful Creator made all that we see in nature. In deep appreciation for the Creator, the writer of today’s reading begins and ends with “Bless the Lord, O my soul!” Yesterday we recognized that we need to order our souls to practice the worship of God consistently! Bless Him! Cause Him to rejoice because we acknowledge that He has made us and all that there is!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Today, Lord God, I’m not making a prayer request here in the blog. I’m simply giving the order to myself to bless You with my worship! The Hymn comes to mind, “Crown Him With Many Crowns.” He is worthy of all my praise!!! (click here for the hymn of worship along with beautiful visuals of the glories of creation).

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

In the mid 1800’s the walls between Roman Catholics and the Church of England were very high. Nevertheless, the hymn “Crown Him With Many Crowns” was one of several hymns in the English language that broke through those walls and everyone worshipped in song. The words were written by a Roman Catholic and the music by a Protestant. Another of those hymns was “Faith of Our Fathers.” On Father’s Day each year when I was a boy we would sing the words, “In spite of dungeon, fire and sword, etc.” I would think of the Protestants persecuted by the Roman Catholics as I sang (I had read the book, Fox’s Book of Martyrs). I was shocked to discover while in my twenties that this hymn was written by a Roman Catholic priest while serving time in a dungeon, where he had been placed by King Henry VIII. Doctrinal differences are important, particularly as to how and where we encounter God in the salvation of our never-dying souls, but the worship of God and His Son, our Saviour, is our common ground!

Yours for the glory of “The Great Creator!”

David

P.S. This attachment will take close to an hour to watch, but it is well worth the time, if not now, then later. If possible, please don’t miss it. It’s a video called, “God In Ancient China.” It is a teaching from a Chinese Pastor in Singapore on the meanings of the Chinese language characters. You’ll be amazed!!! (click HERE).

Among the ancient ruins of Gobeklitepe in Turkey, you can see a stork or crane being depicted. Enhancing the beauty of structures with sculptures has been a feature of temples everywhere, including the Tabernacle of Moses, and the Temple and synagogues in which Jesus would have participated in the prayers, Scripture readings and teachings. Like this carved picture of a bird, the Chinese characters, as shown in the above youtube attachment, are pictures or engravings.

  1. Had problems today with this blog. It wouldn’t let me leave a reply. It would not shut off when the reading section was complete. Had some trouble yesterday too. When I use the audio button sometimes it won’t shut off. Yesterday there was not audio button. Maybe it is my computer? It would not let me leave a reply today> Anyway, I will try again. I loved the blog for today. I am always amazed at how the archaeologists can discover the time frame for their findings. The hymn by a Catholic and a Protestant is so great. Nice to know that people can work together. We have community lunches in Burlington, ON with 4 churches working together (one being Catholic). It is a great way to meet wonderful people. Thanks for the work you do on the blog. It is great!

    • That video is amazing! I “pocketed” it to keep it. I hope I can also capture it on a computer DVD. I have a person in mind who, with the Lord’s help, can see the truth of the gospel. He says he’s an agnostic (92 yrs old). A very intellectually gifted person who would appreciate this history (His Story)!

  2. We had a preacher come to my church awhile back (Lakemount church) in Grimsby ( Reynold and Cathy Mainse’s home church) and this preacher, who wrote a book entitled “Your crazy if you don’t talk to yourself” began to speak about the necessity of speaking to yourself (myself) and of course, some people will take this to the extreme end of the scale; however, scripture encourages us to do just that to speak to our souls to cease our laziness and business with day to day activities even if they are christian thoughts or activities. King David certainly set the tone in Psalm 103 vs.1 when he said “Bless the LORD, Oh MY SOUL AND ALL THAT IS WITHIN ME, BLESS HIS HOLY NAME” The apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:19 encourages us to “speak to yourselves in psalms and hymns even singing spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the LORD.
I find myself talking and singing constantly to the LORD daily even to the point that my wife tells me that she occasionally hears me talking and singing to JESUS when I sleep. So this is good discipline and great therapy and very scriptural. P.T.L. I encourage you to worship our lovely LORD in this manner.

    • thank you I am always talking to the Lord, I tell him some really funny jokes and I start to laugh and somehow I hear Jesus laughing also. I share my ups and downs, dreams, and hurts, my tears, even though He knows all, it gives me great comfort to know that I can speak to me wherever I am!
I encourage children of all ages to talk to God also! I tell them when they are feeling down talk to God, I usually tell them that I talk to God and it doesn’t matter if they believe or not, God hears all prayers! sometimes the young accept Christ, and I am surprised at how many do believe! Encouragement is very important for everyone. I don’t get into an argument about believing in God, I will not let anyone speak a negative comment, I tell them it’s ok if they don’t believe yet,, but someday they may need to turn to God in a time of a great crisis and I want the young people to know that He is there, all the time…….so, talking to myself
is good therapy! I have asked God questions and sometimes the answers come in a flash! Where did I put the keys? PRESTO! He says, check the table! And sure enough there are the keys…..keep talking and singing, God loves to be adored!

  3. Very interesting blog and postings. I have missed Beverlee and then I realized she was suppose to go for surgery around this time. If so, I trust you are alright and came through successfully, dear sister.

  4. Love the videos you posted this a.m. Rev. Mainse. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The hymn video has the most wonderful pics of mountains. We used to take horse-pack trips into our beautiful Alberta mountains for a summer vacation for a number of years. It was so much easier to feel the presence of our heavenly Father in those places for me. Out on the trail each day the world seemed so real and uncomplicated. We seem to live in such an artificial world in civilization. I’m not knocking it but how great we have a chance to get away from it all once in a while. I’m sure heaven will be glorious also.
Saw the Chinese explanation of Christianity before by the young preacher but the joy of being older is you forget:)!!!!
Thank you for your daily blog Rev. Mainse and blessings to all.

  5. WOW ! I enjoyed the video as well I didn’t know you could get that much history
from God’s word into pictures thank you David , and ,Renold, Ann, Ron for our daily blog together. God bless you
