“WELCOME” – GOD

Today’s Reading: Mark 15

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion on the right-hand side).

Here, I (Reynold) placed my Bible, open to Mark chapter 15, on the actual paving stones that Jesus would have walked on while carrying His cross. Through the centuries the city has been built up over the road, but the original stones can be seen in the lower area of the Sisters of Sion Convent.

Key Verse: Mark 15:38

Then the veil of the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

In our readings over the next few weeks, we will visit the books of Exodus and Leviticus. The origins of the “veil” are in these books. The “veil” was a symbol of the separation between a holy, all-powerful God and His sinful, weak people. Entrance to the Holy of Holies was restricted to once a year, when the High Priest would go beyond the veil to make atonement for the sins of the people. When Jesus died, the veil was torn open from top to bottom – from God to man – by an act of God. As a result, we can “COME BOLDLY BEFORE THE THRONE OF GRACE” (Hebrews 4:16). The Holy of Holies stood open, an invitation to all to approach the Throne of God through the blood of Jesus which He, as our High Priest, sprinkled on the Mercy Seat in Heaven. Please find the time today to read Hebrews chapters 9 & 10. Our minds will be illuminated and our hearts moved by a greater understanding of what happened in Heaven at the moment Jesus died here on earth.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Heavenly Father, because of the torn veil, Jesus’ body, I come boldly into Your immediate Presence. Jesus’ death has made this possible. This is the greatest honour I could ever have. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I’m not asking for anything. I’m filled with awe as I soak in Your Presence. Amen! and Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

The photograph for today of “Gabatha,” the paving stones which formed the floor of the Roman Governor’s courtyard, bring a special memory to me. Norma-Jean and I first walked on these stones in 1968. Our guide for the convent was a Nun who was quite cold and distant. The next time we came, the same Sister was radiant and began to sing while standing on those stones, “He is Lord. He is Lord. He is risen from the dead and He is Lord.” I said to her, “What has happened to you? The last time we were here you were very formal, but you’ve changed.” She replied, “Oh, I know Him now.” There was a charismatic prayer meeting weekly for those who lived on the Via Dolorosa, and she had been born again and baptized with the Holy Spirit, speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gave her utterance (John 3:3-5 and Acts 2:4). An encounter with the Holy Spirit changes everything.

Yours for living in the immediate Presence of God,

David

Praise You Praise You The Lamb that was slain for the sins of the world Worthy is the Lamb Hallelujah Glory to Your Name Forever Lord Jesus Christ Amen and Amen

  2. Thank you Lord for Your shed blood and broken body making it possible through the New Covenant to come boldly into the Throne of Grace. Read the references and prayed the prayer, David. What a blessed people we are sharing in the riches of His grace! Have a great day everyone!

  3. It is written that Jesus was crucified @ 9:00 a.m. and died @ 3:00 p.m. which encompasses 6 hours. Pilate was surprised (Mark 15:44) that Jesus was already dead. Perhaps God could no longer bear to see His son suffer as a human and shortened this special man’s torture out of immeasurable love.
Wonderful thoughtful Prayer for Today Rev. DM., Amen.
Hope many got to listen to the speech by Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday. It can probably be found on the Net somewhere.
    Blessings to all believers.

  4. Meaningful photo, Reynold–thank you. And thank you, David Mainse, for the inspiring message, today, and reference to scripture.

Take no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Mt 6:34

“Do not worry, do not worry, do not worry! I am He who holds your life in My hand. All is well and shall be well, My child, for I am God. You shall still see My glory revealed, and there will be a fulfilment of all I have spoken to you.” Echoes of Eternity, Helms, p. 170. August Seventh.

Letting go of the worry and holding onto the precious cloak of Jesus. Thank You, our Lord and Saviour, for shedding your blood for us so that we might be forgiven and saved. Your sacrifice cannot be repaid. Let us live, all for Your Glory. We give our lives for You, Jesus. Blessings dear saints.

  5. Amen to all the wonderful prayers above! And thank you all for your meaningful inputs.
    Our God is good!
    All the time!
    All the time,
    Our God is Good!!
    Stay blessed fellow bloggers

  6. After our reading today, I find I must be quiet and soak in the presence of Our Saviour.

Powerful today. Oh how I love Jesus. Thank you Father, Son and Spirit for that immeasurable love poured out for us “sinners saved by grace”

    Blessings to everyone.

  7. In the shadow of the cross I see not my sins of yesterday,
nor my failings of a tomorrow yet still far away.
I see not the faces of those I have harmed
or feel evil’s grip and fatal charm.
All I see is Your Face, eyes weary yet full of Love
I see Your blood dripping down and hear a cooing of an unseen Dove.
I am in awe in what You have done for me
hanging there on that bitter tree
Knowing forgiveness and Grace is a priceless gift
paid with innocence that was Yours to give
Yes, in the shadow of the cross, on my knees humbled and facing dew
In that shadow I cannot speak any words except– Lord Jesus, thank you.

  9. Our sins are forgiven and are removed as far as the east is from the west! How wonderful. To be forsaken by humans is hard but to be foresaken by God is unconceivable. Thank you Jesus.

  10. Dear Rev.David M.
Todays scriptures is after all the core of the ultimate gift given to each of us as our Heavenly fathers children through His only Begotten Son ,Jesus Christ ,The pure final Lamb , GOD MADE MAN , and by doing so fulfilling the final covenant permitting each of us through Jesus Resurrection to be the temple of our Living God and letting the Holy Spirit be our guide.
