GOD WILLING, today starts a TWO-YEAR DAILY BLOG by me, David Charles Mainse, born August 13th 1936, in Quebec, Canada. If anyone just might possibly be interested, you can check me out at www.crossroads.ca or www.crossroads.ca/about/who-we-are/mainse.
So, I’m 75 years old. This two-year plan shows that I’m an incurable optimist. If you’re having coffee just now, you can tell a lot about the company you’re keeping. One says “Is there any milk in that jug?”. The one who says “pass the cream please”, is me! I’m not a total Pollyanna clone, but I will call it like I see it, honestly and factually. I may be wrong from time to time. Only God is always right, and I am definitely one of His imperfect children by my own choice. It’s not God’s fault that I come short of His high standard. According to surveys, the #2 most recognized song in the world is “Amazing Grace”. #1 is “Happy Birthday”. The composer of “Amazing Grace” used the word “wretched” to describe me. Not too complimentary. But, the song is hopeful. The blind can see and the lost are found.
Yesterday was the 50th birthday of Crossroads. I’m excited to report that it is “HAPPY”. Please join us in the celebration at www.crossroads.ca/50
Now, here’s the plan for this blog:
- Beginning today, God willing, I’ll be making a two-year journey, through the WORLD’S OLDEST BOOK, STILL THE WORLD’S BEST-SELLER – – THE BIBLE. We will start in the New Testament, go to the Old Testament, back to the New and then back again to the Old. To start, I suggest joining me in reading St. Matthews chapters 1 & 2. A good place to start, THE CHRISTMAS STORY. (Years ago in the 1970s, I went through a “The-Bible-in-One-Year”, with thousands of people following along. Unfortunately, when we reached Leviticus, more than half dropped out.)
- I will read the suggested chapters at 4am. At 4:30am, I’ll spend time in prayer. This early start has been a habit of mine, most days, since I turned 40.
- At 5am, at my computer keyboard, I expect to write 100 WORDS. First, 100 words on the theme of the key verse which I’ve chosen from the suggested reading for the day. Second, 100 words from my personal meditation.
- I will add a photo, taken by my son Reynold Mainse, who is a professional photographer. (He just spent the month of March in the Holy Land shooting photos and will be going back again in the Fall for more).
- At 6am, I’ll post the day’s “Fresh Bread” – to be delivered from my place to yours.
- Each day, comments and replies to my post will be encouraged.
Tomorrow’s Suggested Reading: Matthew Chapters 1 & 2
(a good place to start, THE CHRISTMAS STORY)
Looking forward to following along here in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador!
Looking forward to sharing this journey with you and are excited to think about how God will bless this new ministry.

U also came to a church in my town. U were on your thank you tour.
I have not attended church for 7 years due to many church splits and other things.
U to me represent Canada’s pastor. I seek God continually and I know that I am last not first. That first it is God, then other’s and finally me.
I support 100 Huntley Street and when u came through Kamloops u called and left a message. Just like u did for many other individuals who support 100 Huntley Street. That night I went to church.
I am looking for a church but more importantly a church that I can belong to
Maybe this will be it….
…I long to connect with individuals who love Christ and want to talk about Christ.
Hi there, I living in Kamloops and just started going back to church. I find Summit Baptist an awesome place to be. Right on summit drive near Mcgowan Park.
I too saw David on the tour but I was living in Merritt at the time.
I could easily have written your letter. I pray God’s provision for us both.
It seems my first message didn’t get published…just saying welcome and thanks for taking the time to bless us with Good’s Word. Brenda J Wood

My wife, Diane, and I are looking forward to your daily blog, as you take us through the Bible. We continue to uphold you in prayer, and we are claiming a miracle for your healing.
“HAPPY ARE THE PEOPLE WHOSE GOD IS THE LORD! -(Happy)” Psalm 144:15. By God’s grace, “100 WORDS” is being given wings and free to spread and soar beyond seeming limitations. Congratulations on this new chapter in life not restricted by circumstance but seeing beyond to new possibilities and free to create a desirable life for all that is free as a bird. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17.
I just posted a tribute to David Mainse on my blog. You might be interested in reading it.(all good, I promise!) Brenda J Wood

Congratulations on your 50 Year celebration. Also, how wonderful to have this blog that we can all enjoy. We are praying for your health at our Bible Study at Oakville Seniors. If Ross Mainse was alive and knew about all this, he would be so proud, and happy that I can be a part of this learning experience to go through the Bible with you.

I’ve fallen off my daily reading due to work and distractions and I am really looking forward to joining in on your daily blog to get me back. Thank you!
Looking forward to hearing you everyday Mr Mainse
Dear David, What an awesome venture! I have been watching Huntley Street for a number of years now, and very much
enjoy the program. I have read the New Testament a few times, and started reading the Old Testament a few times, but never got any further than Chronicles. Maybe by following you daily on your blog, I will finally get to read the “whole” Old Testament with you.
“Fresh Bread” delivered every morning ! What a blessing.! Thank you David, may God give you strength to see this task through. Hope I will be able to keep up with you.
Dear David,
I have really enjoyed reading your blogs. It seems that God has something special to say to me everyday, especially today’s post, June 11th. Thank you for your faithfulness in continuing in ministry.
DEAR PASTOR,
YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE A FLOCK OF SHEEP FOLLOWING YOU , BECAUSE YOU ARE A MAN OF GREAT INTEGRITY . A WISE WORD THAT MY FATHER GAVE ME AS A VERY YOUNG LAD WAS THIS , ” ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH AND ANY PROMISE YOU MAKE ; MAKE SURE YOU STAND BY IT : BECAUSE WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, OUR WORDS WILL EITHER BE LIFE TO PEOPLE OR DEATH . THERE IS NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE . ” PASTOR DAVID, YOU HAVE ALWAYS SPOKEN LIFE INTO YOUR FLOCK SO THANK YOU FOR THIS DAILY BLOG !!!
I watch 100 Huntley every day and 100 Words to start my day, then my personal devotion in evening when i can feel no rush. David, it would be great to place in book form your blog and pictures at end of the yr. It was mentioned this morning regarding Steve Saint. If interested people can google Steve Saint Maverick and find he has a flying dune buggy being used in Eucador which can be driven or flown and now used for the tribe his father was killed by. Our prayers are needed for Steve to fully recover to continue his work. My grandson talks often regarding his trip last Nov. to Holy Land with you. We just held our 50 yr. Re-Grad at Prairie. Thankyou for your faithfulness until He calls you home. Joyce
Thankyou Daid Mainse I have been watching your show for 30 years! ,and it has brought joy and peace God Bless you sir!
