YOUR TREASURE CHEST

Today’s Reading: Matthew 12

Located in Nazareth, the first century “Nazareth Village” re-enacts life from 2,000 years ago.

Key Verse: Matthew 12:35

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”

It was 4:00 a.m. and there it was…City of Toronto garbage truck #100 stopped on Jarvis Street picking up garbage. Just the morning before on the 100 Huntley Street TV show, we had suggested that everyone put the accumulation of their life’s “garbage” out at the curb and Jesus would take it away. Any evil things you treasure will eventually destroy you if you fail to get rid of them. As you join me daily in reading the Word, you’ll know what is evil and what is good. This blog is good treasure. Store up the good things consistently every day. You’ll bless others and yourself with good things!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Jesus, forgive me for all the sin and wrong I’ve done. I put all these things out of my life. You promised to take away all my sin. Thank You! I treasure the good things You’ve given me. I will bring them out to bless others. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Before moving to Burlington, Ontario, our TV studios were located in downtown Toronto. Every morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., I would drive up Jarvis Street for my early morning time in God’s Word and in prayer. I had committed to spend at least an equal time in prayer and the Word as I would spend that day on live TV (90 minutes). During the drive, a huge billboard faced me with a picture of a scantily clad woman. I was angry. I wanted only to think of my beautiful wife. After a couple of days of putting those evil thoughts “out at the curb,” I would deliberately look to the other side of the street before that billboard appeared and would pray fervently for the people of the night, that our Nite-Lite show — on ’til 4:30 a.m. — would reach their hearts with the love of Jesus!

May God bless you with lots of GOOD today,

David

Happy birthday,Dale. As always, another good prayer. Our fellow Christians are our family…'” “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” ”’
    God bless

  3. Happy birthday Dale & blessings on you & our “families”. Cooler but bright in Hamilton/Burlington today. I plan to get out and walk a few times. Really seeing God’s creation these days. I think busyness kept me from that in the past. Now with virus shutdown, I am noticing His creation more. Blessings all.

  4. 🌸 Such incredible wisdom from our Jesus, in scripture, this morning. I read a prior Our Daily Bread that struck home with me, and wanted to share with you:

    🌷God Waited🌷

“The Lord longs to be gracious to you. Isaiah 30:18

“When Denise Levertov was just twelve, long before she became a renowned poet, she had the gumption to mail a package of poetry to the great poet T. S. Eliot. She then waited for a reply. Surprisingly, Eliot sent two pages of handwritten encouragement. In the preface to her collection The Stream and the Sapphire, she explained how the poems “trace [her] own movement from agnosticism to Christian faith.” It’s powerful, then, to recognize how one of the later poems (“Annunciation”) narrates Mary’s surrender to God. Noting the Holy Spirit’s refusal to overwhelm Mary and His desire for Mary to freely receive the Christ child, these two words blaze at the poem’s center: “God waited.”

“In Mary’s story, Levertov recognized her own. God waited, eager to love her. He would not force anything upon her. He waited. Isaiah described this same reality, how God stood ready, eager with anticipation, to shower Israel with tender love. “The Lord longs to be gracious to you . . . to show you compassion” (30:18). He was ready to flood His people with kindness, and yet God waited for them to willingly receive what He offered (v. 19).

“It’s a wonder that our Creator, the Savior of the world, chooses to wait for us to welcome Him. The God who could so easily overpower us practices humble patience. The Holy One waits for us.”

Thank You Lord, for waiting for us. Your mercy endures, forever. His blessings of peace, love, and joy upon fellow saints.🌸

  5. May God bless all dear saints this and each day.
    Found this lovely poem:

God’s Love for You and Me

    God loves you and me
    He died upon the tree
He shed His blood on Calvary
That we all may be free

    Free from eternal death
    Free from sin and shame
    Free to live forever
    To call upon God’s name

We can call in time of trouble
    He’ll listen when we’re sad
He’ll be there when we need him
To save us from the bad.

God loves you so very much
    Accept Him now today
Kneel down and close your eyes
And this is what you say:

I am sorry for my sin
    Forgive me Lord today
I want to live for you
    To live for you always.

  6. Lovely posts by David and fellow saints today. Thank you. Haven’t had my colon test yet; just visited my family doctor yesterday and reminded him. He instructed me to remind the surgeon’s office again and try to get an appointment. They have a backlog of patients waiting for the same test. Thank you for your prayers which are not in vain as prayers are reactive and proactive. Please continue to pray that I will get the test soon as I am in need of it. Thank you. God bless you and your day.

    • That sounds very strange, Ger. Usually it is your doctor’s office that books the appt. for a colonoscopy for the patient. The patient doesn’t call to book it him or herself. Your doctor should call to check for you, not ask you to check yourself. Praying for God’s intervention on your behalf to get the appt. in place asap for you. Also praying for a blanket around you.

    • I’ve learned that each person has to be their own advocate when talking with Doctors; ask what You need to do; where to go; the whole system has changed and we need to be alert and ask questions….
      Blessings to all
In Jesus Name amen amen amen

it seems to me that $$$$$$$$$$ is somewhat running all areas of our world today; Lord Thank you for this day and all the blessings You have given us; please continue to lead us and thank you Lord for the forgiveness of all our sins.
\in Jesus Name we pray amen amen amen

    • Continuing to pray for you, Ger. May you be able to access the colonoscopy test very soon and may the results be favourable.
      Lord bless you, richly!

  7. Thank you Lord! Petra’s CT scan showed her brain is clear of cancer. Thank you for upholding her and me in prayer. Petra is still undergoing treatment for the cancer that has spread from the original breast cancer, so we would appreciate your continued prayer.
Happy birthday Dale, may you have a blessed day today and every day..
Lord, please be with Ger awaiting scheduling for the colonoscopy, Your peace and comfort ever upon Ger..

  8. Thank You, Lord, for everything; for flowers and bees and songs we can sing.
Thank You for birthdays and kindness and love; for your Word and your Spirit that came like a dove. Thank You for people who work, Lord, for You; who share their good gifts so all can be new – made in Your likeness and living in Truth.
    In Jesus’s name, amen

  9. Thank you Luisa and Verna for your prayers and anyone else who may have prayed. God bless you. Beverlee, my doctor did call a year ago last April and reminded them that my five years was up the 7th of November, 2019, as they had my form when I went to the office last year. The receptionist showed me all the forms they had before me. This surgeon is very popular and he did one for me before. So I left it at that and waited. When I went to see my family doctor yesterday he said I should call as he had no clout with the surgeon as this is another hospital. If this surgeon can’t do it, to ask for another one if available. So please pray as I am going to call Monday. Thank you so much.

  10. I am praying, Ger. I didn’t mean anything by what I said; just not wanting you to have to be in any discomfort and have to keep waiting, which is not an easy thing. It has been 9 months since my doctor first put in a request for me to see a new specialist for my back, who I see Monday. God bless you, Ger.
