NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Today’s Reading: Matthew 3-4

Sunrise over the Galilee. It’s a new day and a new beginning for 100words.ca. Now is the opportunity to begin with thousands of others this two-year journey through the world’s runaway bestseller, the Bible. I’ve proven that in the one-year journey, approximately 70% don’t complete reading every word in the Bible!!! But in the two-year commitment at least 70-75% actually succeed at the challenge of reading every word!!!

Key Verses: Matthew 3:14 & 4:19

“I have need to be baptised by You and are You coming to me?”… “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”

Later in Matthew 11:2-15 Jesus says, “There has not been one greater than John the Baptist.” Such a great man needed Jesus!

What was the evidence of John’s greatness?

(1) A great message! “Repent!” Turn from your own way and go God’s way (Matthew 3:2).

(2) Humility! He did not consider himself a great personality, just a “VOICE!” (Matthew 3:3).

(3) John recognized his own need. “I have need to be baptised by You” (Matthew 3:14).

John the Baptist, according to Luke’s Gospel, was named by an angel. His birth was prophesied in advance, and he was eventually beheaded because of his stand for Truth. What a great man! Yet he confessed to Jesus, “I need You.” THIS IS GREATNESS!!!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:Β

Jesus, John needed You, and I need You desperately! I’m confident that, as the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:19, “God shall supply all your need, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” I pray for the grace of Your daily supply! Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Watching TV or reading newspapers, I have from time to time talked back to the screen toward the person whose troubles have just been exposed, “YOU NEED JESUS!”Β

His timing may not be to our liking. I remember the singer Jimmy McDonald saying on the 100 Huntley Street TV show, that there are four ways God answers prayer:

  1. NO (It’s not the best for you, at least at the present time).
  2. GROW (We must change first in order to handle wisely the answer to our prayers).
  3. SLOW (Circumstances must change first. God is committed to working within the free will of others).
  4. GO (This is God’s “YES!” and we can expect results soon).

Listen very carefully and you will hear God’s answer.

Yours with much love,

David

P.S. Please commit to following along with me for the next 730 days, providing God gives the graces of continuity, consistency, and what I like to call, plain old sanctified stubbornness…the determination to “never, never, never give up!” Those five words made up the entire content of a school graduation speech made by the “Man of the Century” (20th), Winston Churchill!!!

  1. Praying David’s prayer and thankful for the next two years of our daily bread. Hoping your birthday visit went well yesterday Doreen, with your sister, Donna-Leigh. God bless you, fellow saints in the Lord. It’s a new day and we give Him all the praise! 🌞

He remembered that they were but flesh,
a wind that passes and comes not again.

    • Thanks Beverley. I was given a loaner phone @ the nursing home & was able to talk & sing with Donna Lea. She looked good – praise the Lord! It was hot in the sun where I had to sit but I had an umbrella with me. I had a bubble set & she laughed at the bubbles. I left a bag of gifts for her. I noticed that residents who smoke were allowed to come out (without masks) but they did distance themselves. Blessings

      • Sounds like it made you very happy Doreen. So happy to hear that. Thank the Lord the residents are not allowed to smoke inside but it does make you wonder. What matters is that your sister was laughing. 😊 She did not forget you!!

        • I’m happy to hear about your visit with your sister, Doreen. I’m sure she was very happy to see you.

  2. Dear Lord God, thank You for Your calm and loving presence in our lives. Thank You that even in this troubled world, You are there. Please help people everywhere to hear Your voice calling. Thank You for Your people, messengers of Your Kingdom. Bless each one with courage, wisdom, and love, and may Your Word go out freely and clearly, in Jesus’s name, amen

  3. Good that you had a nice visit with your sister Doreen even though in a different setting! Meditating on Jesus living in Capernaum and all the distances he and his disciples walked.

  5. Enjoying this 2-yr stint on our bible again. Can never get enough.

β€œTruly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62:1-2 (NIV)

A friend (not the same one:-) sent me this great video of a fella playing Whispering Hope on a leaf flute:

Praying for everyone’s good health and safety.

    • Amen Lynda D!
Psalm 62 : V1-2 ASSURES us of God’s protection, what a blessing! Praise His Holy Name!
That music on a leaf flute was amazing, thanks
for sharing! May God bless you all.

    • Thank you Lynda D for that song; my sister and I sang it in two part harmony often. Always uplifted by it

  6. I am ecstatic! Praising God for answering my prayers and those were praying along with me. My brother has been in hospital since 18 of April with covid, he had a relatively mild dose but it has lingered on until 2 days ago. Praise a God he got 2 negative test results. He is headed back to his room in the nursing home tonight. He had no tv for weeks. Could you imagine how long and boring his days would have been? Finally last week they moved him To a room with a tv.
Also praising God, I needed some laser on my eyes after having cataracts removed a year ago. Got one eye done yesterday. I cannot believe how good I feel now. No more milky vision . Can’t wait to get the other one done. It was instant that I felt a change in my head.
Thank you God, you are awesome.

    • So happy for you, Nan.. bless you and your brother.
God does not forget us. The dark times may last for a while but with God on our side, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
I pray the surgery on your other eye will go as well as the first one.
      Blessings to you! πŸ™
