Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 30

Arch of Titus in Rome was constructed in 82 AD by the Roman Emperor Domitian shortly after the death of his older brother Titus to commemorate Titus’ victory in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The Arch of Titus has provided the general model for many of the triumphal arches erected since the 16th century, including the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Key Verse: 2 Chronicles 30:26

So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel, there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem.

Today’s reading is such an encouragement. The sequence of events that resulted in the “joy in Jerusalem” is as follows. (1) Letters were sent to both the northern tribes of Israel and the southern tribes of Judah. They were carried by “runners” who functioned like the town criers who brought the news before newspapers, radio, TV, and the Internet. In New Testament times these newscasters were called evangelists. So those who took the Gospel everywhere and announced the news of Christ were called Evangelists. (2) These “runners” refused to be discouraged in spite of the fact that in some places “they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.” (3) “Many people, a very great congregation, assembled at Jerusalem.” (4) In spite of the compromise with the world, which was very evident in the culture, a powerful remnant of faithful people remained true to the Word of God and followed the lead of the man of God, King Hezekiah. (5) Hezekiah prayed for the people that, in spite of the fact that some people were ignorant of the proper preparation for the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur in the present Jewish calendar), the Lord would provide atonement for everyone. This atonement is ours today through the passover sacrifice of Jesus as the final Sacrifice as the Lamb of God.

Lord God, please make me a more effective runner with the Good News of the message of Jesus’ passover feast in Jerusalem. As was the case with Hezekiah, I pray that everyone (the whole world for whom Jesus offered His life as the final Sacrifice for atonement) will hear the message and come to know Him as Saviour and Lord. I pray for Crossroads Family of Ministries. May every team member burn with a holy unquenchable flame to bring people to Jesus. May winning souls to Jesus continue to be the #1 priority. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen and Amen!!!

The greatest example of a true Evangelist to masses of people in our time is Billy Graham. The greatest motivator for personal evangelism in our time is the late Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ. In Billy Graham’s appearances on the 100 Huntley Street telecasts, without fail, he turned to the camera and gave an invitation for people to come to Christ. Bill Bright did the same in his appearances with me on television. I took Bill Bright to lunch several times and without fail he witnessed for Christ to the waiter or waitress serving us. I made sure to leave a larger than usual tip in order to underline the love with which Bill spoke of Jesus.

I can never be content to maintain the status quo in ministry. If TV programs, camping ministries, World Expos, etc., in which Crossroads has been involved were not winning souls to Christ, I would become more and more desperate in the fervency of my prayers until I would see results in more people coming to Christ. I pray with all my heart that Crossroads Christian Communications will continue to produce soul-winning telecasts and that the leadership will continue to be filled with a passion for souls until the moment of Christ’s return.

Yours for running with the Good News throughout the world via the TV and internet (check out,

  2. As in yesterday’s reading,Hezekiah prayed for the people and sent a message of repentance to which they responded.Perhaps the ‘final days’ will be like that too with great numbers wanting to know God.We must remember too that ‘they’ did not have the Holy Spirit to guide them as we do (and we may not be doing great either?) but great numbers still responded.Let’s pray that the US,Canada, the UK and all the countries that once were clearly Christian will repent and return to Jesus and give these nations Christian roots again.(The roots are the morals that hold the nations together regardless of borders.) Yall have a good day.
    Under God

One nation under God that denies Me,
Will fall apart and be devoured,
If you refuse my love that’s free,
As if I am something now soured.

Your enemies have delivered my warning,
Therefore turn back to find truth,
For the wolves only bring mourning
From the sacrifice of your youth.

Greed is now what too many now preach,
For the demon has reached within,
But you can still change to teach,
So the children may turn from sin.

If you allow the wolves in their power,
    To consume with endless thirst,
Then you are guilty at this hour
In helping bring about the worst.

So remove the wolves behind the crown,
    For they are deeply entrenched,
And let them and their filth drown
As my laws are tightly clenched.

    • Agreeing with you, Bill for prayer for our nations to return to their Godly roots. We have been so blessed because of our founders’ faith in and obedience to Christ . Oh that God will forgive us for wandering so far and bring us back to where we started…rooted and grounded in Him !

May you all have a blessed day!

      • Amen Bill and Luisa, agreeing with both of you.
I was really touched this morning. I was brought to tears by the Reading and David’s comments .
Remembering Ann and that Pastor in my prayers for healing. Have a Blessed Day everyone. Eleanor M.

  3. Amen, William and Luisa. Lord help us to be evangelists, bearers of the Good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever we can. Prayers for Ann and David.

  4. Yes Lord we pray that Your Will be done in our governments; we pray that our leaders and their staff and families would turn to You and pray daily for this country of Canada and our neighbours.
Lord we know that Your Word says “thou shall not kill”.
I pray men and women will think about having children before they are ready for such a responsibility of raising a child.
pray for healing for Becky and Sandy; pray for meeting with a staff person to go well, pray that people will turn to God daily, pray with their families, thank the Lord for some rain, pray for more rain, in Jesus Name we Pray amen

  5. Reading all of your kindnesses and genuinely-felt insights, renews my own enagement with this precious and unique fellowship of ????Words ignited by our legendary leader, Pastor David Maines. Although we all miss David more than words can ever express, the seed, ????Words grew tremendously right from the start in 2012 when he promised God to initiate a 2-year “blog” centred upon completing the whole Bible (front-to-back). In 2012, David, as you know, contracted MDS Leukemia and he explained on 100Huntley Street that the blog initiative was undertaken in total obedience to God who very decisively prompted him to begin the project despite the fact that David was unfamiliar with “blogs” (another brilliant idea from savvy 2.0 techies!). What emerged had all the markings of another 100 Huntley Street Godly-led project that typically drew upon every sparkling new resource…recalling the Pastor’s broadcasting initiatives—radio, then television—and, this time, dazzling 21st Century 2.0 technology which led to uncompromisingly amplify Our Lord’s message instantly and globally …absolutely no-holds-barred! And it appears that David’s team gleefully jumped on the “vlog” idea quirky too…probably very energyzed by the prospect of reaching those souls who, probably unintentionally, keep pace with their smart phones, all day long, at sonic speeds! Thus, led by David, team 100Words—Ron, Ann, Reynold and others diligently scour and test new resources with objectives to boundlessly continue publishing the legendary Pastor’s work besides his many critically acclaimed books and global multi-media Christian communications. Consequently, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for so incredibly and consistently sending ????Words into my Inbox—today, it was better late than never 😉 Seriously, though, this God-created blog remains deeply important to me, personally…noteworthy, that David replaced his original 3-year version with the 2012 format projecting a better response and he was right because it must now rank as one of the most popular complete multi-media Bible studies on the planet (literally)! God bless the Mainse family as they prayerfully continue their Founder’s legacy missions, and greetings to all the saints posting here today as well as all the other bloggers-at-large from this fellowship! With admiration and loving Christian affection always, Linda
