The Yad Lashiryon Memorial at Latrun is the Armored Corps’ Memorial Site. The memorial is surrounded by tanks used and captured in Israeli wars. The centrepiece of the Armored Corps is the Wall of Names (pictured below) on which are inscribed the names of all 4,965 fallen soldiers of the Armored Corps from all of Israel’s recent wars. This location is also the site of the Biblical battles of Joshua against the Amorite kings; in the book of Joshua it says: “Sun, stand still upon Gibeon; and moon, in the valley of Aijalon” (Joshua 10:12). This retired Merkava Mk-1 tank was the first Israeli-made tank, designed in the late 1960’s – early 1970’s. In this photo you can see a number of young Israeli soldiers hearing about the stories and seeing the weapons of past wars.

Key Verse: Joshua 10:6

And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Do not forsake your servants; come up to us quickly, save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us.”

According to the treaty, Israel comes to the defense of Gibeon. We call upon our Joshua (Yeshua – Jesus). We pray, “Save us and help us,” and He responds according to the pact He has made. It is called “The New Covenant.” A covenant is the most solemn and binding agreement. We may want to read Hebrews 8:10-12.

There are several items of interest in this chapter. “Adoni-Zedek,” King of Jerusalem, continues the Zedek name. It means righteousness. Melchi-Zedek was the King of Salem (Jerusalem) to whom Abraham paid tithes. “Adoni” means “Lord” and “Melchi” means “King.” Jerusalem was not conquered by Israel until King David’s time.  Approximately 450 years earlier, Jerusalem had a man of God as its King whom many believe was Jesus, Himself (Genesis 14:17-20). Time travel is no problem for God!

In verses 12 to 14 (the book of Jasher has been lost), we’re told that the sun stood still. It may have been that God caused the earth to stop its rotation. Scripture is accurate in recording the actual perception of the people to this phenomenon.

Dear Lord God, thank You for the New Covenant through which You “save us and help us” in our states of sinfulness, weakness, illness or distress. Please, Jesus, save and help us and our loved ones who are desperate for Your intervention today. We cry unto You! Amen!

I was a guest of Prime Minister Menachem Begin in his home in Jerusalem some years ago. I did not raise this with him, but as I visited with him I could not help but think of the hanging of the five kings by Joshua as I also remembered that Begin’s Irgun, an underground Jewish army prior to 1948, had hanged British soldiers on trees. I met the British officer whose job it was to cut the bodies down. Human free will decides to commit such acts. I’ve given up trying to comprehend such horrible deeds. All I know is that just one hill over from the King David Hotel, which Begin and his men bombed, Jesus, who could’ve called 10,000 angels to destroy the world, willingly endured death by hanging on the Cross. Jesus changed my heart, and if enough people will let Him do that, the world will be changed. Peace and love will reign supreme.

Yours because of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour,

P.S. I was blessed this morning by searching Google for the lyrics to the song, “He Could’ve Called 10,000 Angels.” Here’s what I found…click here. Maybe you’ll be blessed too. Be sure to scroll down in the link to read the testimony of Ray Overholt, the composer of this great song.

At The Yad Lashiryon Memorial, the new soldiers read names of those who died for their country.

  1. Such profoundness on all levels in today’s photos, scriptures, and message from David. Everything tied so well together and sealed by the new covenant made by our Saviour’s sacrifice on the cross for us. The depths of which boggle our minds–amen, saints? Be safe, be well, and be blessed, for God loves you so!!

That according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being. Ephesians 3:16 ESV

  2. Amen Beverlee. Save and Help is a good title for it all. Thank you Beverlee for your love. You are right Donna M about Joshua. I read somewhere about someone being a Levi and a priest and didn’t give it much thought. Sorry to hear about your sister Doreen and it’s good she is in a good place to be cared for. The Lord looks after His own. Felt the strength of the Lord the last four days as dealt with this storm and then heavy rain on top of that to climb drifts of snow to clean out eaves troughs full of ice then sliding down the banks, raking roofs, scooping and blowing snow and scooping water away from my shed last night until around 11pm. Why do I tell you all that other than to show that God did give me strength although I admit I lost faith at times and had to call my two friends for emotional support. Today I have banks and drifts of frozen snow all around my house so it can’t be moved until it softens up. But the sun is shining and I am much encouraged that God always gives sunshine after rain, you just have to plough through and wait until another day dawns. Amen? “Weeping endures for a night but joy comes in the morning.” Found the devotional for today with the heading, “Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me(Psalm 23:4) in the book, “Streams in the Desert” a comfort to me today also. Blessings saints!

  3. Dear Doreen, so sorry to hear about your sister. I pray that God will give you and your sister His comfort and peace, as you go through this difficult time.
    God bless you both!

That was a lot of work you had to do, Ger. Surely, the Lord enabled you to do it.
I pray that the snow and ice will soon soften so it can be cleared completely. You sure have had a lot of snow, thus far. God bless you!

Jesus could have called 10,000 angels yet He chose to suffer so that we can be set free! Such love! Praise His Name forever!
Yes, if more people would allow God to come into their lives and change them, how different our world could be.

Stay safe in the weather conditions, dear saints! ❤️

    • Yes Luisa
      Jesus could have done many things BUT He did THe Will of His Father and that was to die for ALL MANKIND; but not stay in the grave but to RISE, walk and talk with man kind; Our Risen Lord and Saviour even ate with the disciples, and then He went up into Heaven;
it brings tears to my eyes whenever I read this Scripture; the thought of nailing Jesus to the tree brings tears to my eyes; BUT He shows the people his scars, He asks them to put their fingers where the holes are in His Hand! He did this for me, for you, for ALL MAN KIND……it could have been in a much different way HOWEVER Our Lord and Saviour did the Will of His Father to save us from going to hell; Thank you Lord, thank you, Blessings to all saints

  4. Thank you folks for encouragement re: my sister. She was somewhat improved today, although very tired. She spoke a few words. I am asking the Lord for His greatest blessings on her. Thanks again.

    • Lord we ask that You would completely heal Doreen’s sister; You have much for her to do on this earth Lord; heal her; give her great strength; give her a positive outlook and a willingness to do Your Work Lord through her healing she will be an inspiration to many
Thank you Lord for all You have done for this wonderful family IN JESUS NAME WE PRAY AMEN

  5. God bless you Beverlee, Luisa and thank you for your encouragement! Pray the Lord will give your sister complete recovery Doreen and yet maintain the help she needs. My brother next younger to me had a stroke and yet in one sense it saved his life as he had to give up smoking. Has a desire to go back to church and praying it happens this year. Lord may we all see the fulfillment of our desires for our loved ones. Amen!
