Key Verse: Joshua 8:30
Now Joshua built an altar to the Lord God of Israel in Mount Ebal…
In building an altar, Joshua is obeying the instructions given in Deuteronomy 11:29 and 27:4-8. The offerings presented on Mt Ebal, the mount of cursing, speak of the offering of Jesus on the cross. He took the curse of sin upon Himself. When Israel entered the Promised Land, the supernatural provision of manna ceased. Now they had to eat the produce of the land which included corn, etc. Divine inspiration of Scripture means that in the original language, the record of events is correct. Earlier, so called “higher critics” disputed that accuracy, but later scholarship confirms that the Biblical account is correct. Dr. Bryant Wood (PhD, University of Toronto), who has been a guest of mine on the 100 Huntley Street telecast, conducted excavations beginning in 1995 which meet all the requirements for the Biblical city of Ai. As we read the history of Israel, we can be confident that we are learning what actually happened. Click here for a documentary about the fall of Jericho featuring Dr. Bryant Wood.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, there is so much I don’t understand. I’m looking back more than three millennia in today’s reading. But what I do understand is that I must visit daily my personal altar, and also my family altar. Please help me, by Your grace, to be faithful in this commitment. In the Name of the One who is always faithful, the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
If you have a response to the horrors of war like I do, you struggle with understanding God’s role in human history. In my lifetime I’ve seen genocide in Europe; I’ve visited the death camps where men, women and children perished. Rwanda in Africa and Cambodia in Asia experienced unspeakable man-made destruction of human life. I could go on and on writing of such events throughout the entirety of human history. Nevertheless, I am confident that God looks at history through the lens of eternity, and God, who will put the final period to the last history book, will provide justice for every man, woman, and child whose human life was destroyed, but whose eternal soul is in His hands. This knowledge gives me peace.
Yours for a daily altar of blessing, and for the peace that passes understanding,
P.S. The composer of the song, “It is well with my soul,” suffered great personal loss. This song was his response (click here).
Thanks William for sharing the song by Robin Mark. Very beautiful
There’s so much I don’t understand also, but trust that God knows what He is doing in all tragic acts and all kind acts.
God Will Take Care of You:
My sentiments Lynda
I somehow believe that God does not want any tragic things to happen in our lives but I do believe it our sinful selfish nature that causes all the problems, our egos get very BIG BIG and of course the devil is right beside us also and he causes us to think that we can do this or that….not a problem…..I had to learn that the devil is here and God is here also!
when the devil was talking to Adam and Eve he agreed with everything GOD had said; however what the devil does is speaking to us he always he makes it in the form of a question!
One day I was parked up town; someone pointed a NO PARKING sign to me. I looked at it and I said “does that mean right here where I am parked or does it mean in the area where the sign is posted?” it seemed logical to me, I did my job and left and then began to laugh, I did exactly as satan did to Adam and Eve, I asked a question, the sign was correct NO PARKING meant exactly where I was parked….that’s how the devil does his dirty deeds….
Amen Lynda!! Me too!
Praying David’s prayer, today. And wishing all saints safety in the snow and a blessed day in our Lord. Be careful shoveling your roof, Ger.
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power. 1 Cor 2:4 NIV
I love Robin Mark, too, William. Here is Faithful One
Robin is the best and very humble too. Here’s a sample

A friend sent me this great quote by Thomas Wolfe:
“Something has spoken to me in the night…and told me that I shall die, I know not where. Saying: “[Death is] to lose the earth you know for greater knowing; to lose the life you have, for greater life; to leave the friends you loved, for greater loving; to find a land more kind than home, more large than earth.”
That is how I see it too. This world is just a school/battlefield where we learn on-the-job.God sees how we react to life’s challenges. How we react shows our character and he knows our every thought. If not for the membrane of uncertainty between heaven and earth we would all be lining up to get into His Kingdom.
The link for the video was corrupted in my puter so I got this link directly from Youtube, same video,if anyone needs it:

David’s words brought this poem to mind (same phrase).”… God looks at history through the lens of eternity,…”
The Lens Of Eternity
Through the lens of eternity,
God sees the hope that grows,
And while we ponder on infinity,
He’s the only one Who knows.
So Lord and blessed Father,
Let us be worthy of your love,
That we might all pull together,
To cleanse the pathway above.
For how long we sought to know,
That salvation in us was bound ,
But then you came here to show,
That only through You it is found.
Satan feared and so he sought,
To stop You and the hope You brought,
For he wanted all to be for naught,
But You won the greatest battle fought.

I was a baby Christian when I wrote this.Perhaps it was for this day?God bless
We’re having a funeral in our little church tomorrow and I have to take care of my wood chores before I go help get ready.God bless
Attending a R.Catholic funeral,where
the priest went out of his way to make
us protestants feel comfortable,I was
inspired to write this.I had to
‘Protestantize’ the title.
(‘Let no man call anyone ”Father”……’)
Pastor,please say goodbye for me,
For I will not know who’s there
When my eyes no longer see
And my heart has no more care.
Your service says what I could not,
Through Jesus’ words to borrow,
For I have won the battle fought
And have risen above sorrow.
Pastor,please wipe away their grief,
For the truth will set them free
From the one who is a thief
And has nowhere to flee.
Don’t let them believe what’s not true,
For sorrow’s the devil’s kin,
But He who lives within you
Will set them free of their sin.
So,Pastor,speak for me this day,
With His words that can not lie,
To say that I am home to stay
Where no one will ever die.

A belated Happy Birthday Marilyn. Just read all of yesterday’s posts as I have been busy nearly the whole day raking my roofs and making a path to my front and back door which were completely blocked. Still haven’t got the snow away from my shed but just wide enough path to get my snowblower out. I thank the Lord that someone is coming Friday as there is freezing rain forecast for tomorrow. Many people are experiencing this weather and worse in the Maritimes and I pray for them. Thanks Beverlee for your concern and trust you are feeling better.Today I asked the Lord to send his angels to help me which I seldom have done. God bless all you fellow bloggers who are experiencing this extreme weather and other concerns.
