SAVE AND HELP
Today’s Reading: Joshua 10

Key Verse: Joshua 10:6
And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Do not forsake your servants; come up to us quickly, save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us.”
According to the treaty, Israel comes to the defense of Gibeon. We call upon our Joshua (Yeshua – Jesus). We pray, “Save us and help us,” and He responds according to the pact He has made. It is called “The New Covenant.” A covenant is the most solemn and binding agreement. We may want to read Hebrews 8:10-12.
There are several items of interest in this chapter. “Adoni-Zedek,” King of Jerusalem, continues the Zedek name. It means righteousness. Melchi-Zedek was the King of Salem (Jerusalem) to whom Abraham paid tithes. “Adoni” means “Lord” and “Melchi” means “King.” Jerusalem was not conquered by Israel until King David’s time. Approximately 450 years earlier, Jerusalem had a man of God as its King whom many believe was Jesus, Himself (Genesis 14:17-20). Time travel is no problem for God!
In verses 12 to 14 (the book of Jasher has been lost), we’re told that the sun stood still. It may have been that God caused the earth to stop its rotation. Scripture is accurate in recording the actual perception of the people to this phenomenon.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Dear Lord God, thank You for the New Covenant through which You “save us and help us” in our states of sinfulness, weakness, illness or distress. Please, Jesus, save and help us and our loved ones who are desperate for Your intervention today. We cry unto You! Amen!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
I was a guest of Prime Minister Menachem Begin in his home in Jerusalem some years ago. I did not raise this with him, but as I visited with him I could not help but think of the hanging of the five kings by Joshua as I also remembered that Begin’s Irgun, an underground Jewish army prior to 1948, had hanged British soldiers on trees. I met the British officer whose job it was to cut the bodies down. Human free will decides to commit such acts. I’ve given up trying to comprehend such horrible deeds. All I know is that just one hill over from the King David Hotel, which Begin and his men bombed, Jesus, who could’ve called 10,000 angels to destroy the world, willingly endured death by hanging on the Cross. Jesus changed my heart, and if enough people will let Him do that, the world will be changed. Peace and love will reign supreme.
Yours because of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour,
P.S. I was blessed this morning by searching Google for the lyrics to the song, “He Could’ve Called 10,000 Angels.” Here’s what I found…click here. Maybe you’ll be blessed too. Be sure to scroll down in the link to read the testimony of Ray Overholt, the composer of this great song.
Wonderful history in Joshua 10–re-read it several times. Yes, peace and love will reign supreme when enough people let Jesus into their hearts. Amen. Thank you for the link to Ray Overholt and his history; a wonderful testimony and song. Singing the praises of angels for you, this morning, dear David, and blessings to all saints in the Lord.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Thank you David and Norma Jean for your daily encouragement through your blog. God promised that to the faithful He will show His faithfulness. You are a wonderful example of this.
Lovingly, Bonnie Rae- Hunt and Ted Hunt
Amen Pastor David and Beverlee. I too enjoyed reading Ray Overholt’s history and Lotetta Lynn’s singing. I was brought to tears by the words. I am always amazed,( although I shouldn’t be) at how our Lord works in the lives of people to bring them to Himself. I have a feeling someone was praying for Ray. That gives me encouragement to keep on praying for those loved ones, who have not YET received Jesus as their Lotd and Saviour.
Blessings everone, Eleanor M.
Many thanks for your prayers Pastor Mainse, I really need healing for my son
that the side effects of his medication would stop.
He has stopped his meds because of it.
Grateful for all the prayers received from others on the blog.
I trust in our Lord Jesus Christ for divine intervention.
May God bless everyone with His peace and healing, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Lord God, we call on You for immediate intervention in Joy’s son’s life–that the doctors have another medication that is free from the side effects he has been turned off by–which he is willing to try. Lord God, have it work in favour of healing his medical needs and giving him the strength to walk each day with Your loving grace. Be the rock that sustains him, Jesus. And give his mom, Joy, a sense of peace and comfort. In Your precious Name, we pray, amen, amen and amen.

To Julia & John Poole. I also live in the greater Vancouver Area. I read your request from yesterday’s blog requesting prayer as you seek guidance. I know it is a struggle when you find such fulfillment in your ministry at Peking University teaching English to PhD Students…and maybe the need to return home due to your husbands health. Just want to assure you of prayers of healing for your husband and wisdom and guidance as to your direction on further ministry. There is a huge Chinese population here, especially in Richmond, B.C.
Thanks for sharing the lyrics and the story that goes with it!
Hello,David.Due to a power outage yesterday,I am just now finishing this blog.I read the story behind the song and immediately thought of a song that came to me at 330 on a Monday morning, very shortly after I surrendered but before I was scheduled to be baptized at Camp Pagweak. The attached note explains it.He was preparing me for a ministry of using poems to bring comfort to grieving mothers beginning about this time in 2012 for about a year and a half, nearly every night. It is the reason for my faith;the way these poems came to me as fast as i could type with my 2 index fingers. There is no short version so I will stop here.I hope you’re feeling better.God bless
Sweet Jesus I owe everything to you and to you alone,
You have shown me my home, you are my anchorstone,
You have saved me always when stormy winds have blown,
You have always been my rock, the truest friend I’ve known,
So why do you think me worthy as a seed you have sown
What can I ever do to earn all the love you’ve shown .
Let me know sweet Jesus, let me know beyond my days
Let me know my Savior, when I bow down to You in praise,
When my time here is drawing short and coming to a close
And they carry me away after leading the life I chose,
I pray that I will leave not sorrow for those that I love,
But instead to know the joy that waits for us above.
I am not a wealthy man but I am very rich by far,
When I walk my journey You’re my guiding star
And You know that I am honest in all the things I do,
I have never born false witness,I only say what’s true,
You have strengthened my soul before I even knew
Of life’s losses with Your love to see me through.
You have always had Your hand placed within my soul,
You have shown me Your light that has made me whole,
I have never known this love that comes from Your grace,
Nor have I known compassion that shines from Your face,
For I am still a sinner and You are the son of God,
I can only meet You at the end of the road I trod.

A melody started in my head, repeating over and over,
followed by the first line of the chorus, then I had to get
up at 3:30 AM and finished this at 4:16 AM.June 6,2011.I
was baptized at our biblecamp June 26,2011.
I corrected two typos but this is as it was written.I firmly
believe it was an inspired writing but at the time I felt too
unworthy to believe this.Written 2 weeks before I was
baptized but after I had ‘surrendered’ on my knees.
I have truly been blessed by this poem Bill. May God give you many more inspired poems.
