MINISTRY

Today’s Reading: Numbers 4

Key Verse: Numbers 4:49

According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, each according to his service and according to his task; thus were they numbered by him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

God has a job for everyone, the willing workers, and even those who are willing to let the self-starters with drive do it all. Sharing our time, our energies, and our resources with others in God’s work is absolutely essential. God, in His wisdom, wants each individual to serve, functioning as a member of the team, so that the burden is not carried by the few but by the many. The Tabernacle was the forerunner to the Church. In the Church, God calls people to serve (see Ephesians 4:11-16). Paul tells us about the leadership in the Church and also gives the reasons why we need those who are gifted by God in ministry. Check out also 1 Corinthians 12:28-31. None of us are left out. I particularly like God’s appointment of “Helps.”

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Lord Jesus, show me that to which You have appointed me for this time of my life. I know that spending time daily with You and Your Word are definitely part of my appointment. Please show me what else You have for me today. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I was about to turn 17 when I knew God was calling me into ministry. God did not give me any details. I thought about the word “ministry” and realized that it meant that I was simply to be a servant and to serve wherever and whenever the opportunity arose. It could be in the form of a request from others, or it could be at God’s initiative. It could be as a result of my own initiative as well. My job was to get busy. I’ve often come across people who are waiting for God to open doors. That’s never been my problem. I’ve seen open doors everywhere. I believe that every street corner is a ministry location. I don’t need to wait for a formal call to Pastor a Church, for example. On a Monday morning at 4 a.m. I committed to this blog. I’m not computer savvy, but I knew I could learn. Four months later, 100words.ca showed up. I’ve read replies to my blog already this morning. Thanks for encouraging me to continue. My job is not to answer questions, for that’s where God has put the ministry gifts in the local Church. Someone has that job and God has gifted that person to be a help.

Yours for all of us finding the job God has for each one of us,

David

  1. Love the beautiful red purple and blue colours of the Tabernacle of Moses drapes in today’s photo and your exuberant vlog, David–amen! 🙂 Oh joyfulness in the morning, in the presence of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! Wherefore without You, would we be? Wishing all saints a blessed day in worship!

    Commit your way to the LORD;
    trust in him, and he will act.
    He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
    and your justice as the noonday.
    Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;

    • Wanda, I have problems sometimes getting the blog too. I just go to http://www.100words.ca when that happens and the day’s blog pops up. Your internet provider may have been doing some refining of their service (many hackers, etc.make keeping the internet safe). After you have put the address in your search engine a few times it may again accept it for you as obviously you are asking for it each time. I don’t think today’s blog has come to me yet but I just put it into my search engine and it popped up. (It will probably come later in the day).

  3. Blesses Sunday to all, getting ready for Church.
    Ps. I am not receiving this in my inbox. I am thankful I can still get it anyway. Eleanor M

  6. May God bless and keep and strengthen all His people throughout this world, and bring many more into His Kingdom today. Lord God, please open the doors for Your gospel to go out, and give us boldness to share Your gospel today and every day. Thank You Lord God – You are worthy of all our praise forever. In Jesus’ name, amen

  7. Led the song service in our church this morning and felt the Holy Spirit ministered to us. The sermon by a visiting minister was about John 16:7, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is to your advantage that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.” Then he went on to explain why we are at an advantage with having the Holy Spirit come. Great sermon. Blessed by your blog today David and fellow bloggers.

  8. I am deeply grateful to have our blog each day, and thank you Pastor David et al for each day’s readings and explanations.

  11. Dear blog friends, I just watched the most incredible movie and will post the link for everyone tomorrow, just in case some saints don’t check the blog at the end of the day. It is based on a true story about a medical miracle.

  12. Lord God I ask for Your Power to clear all evil from this blog and the vlog! I declare through Jesus Christ that all the postings will go through without a hitch! I declare through Jesus Christ that as program providers update their websites, this will in no way stop any Word of God from coming through and going into each person’s e mail Only God our Creator has the Power over all the evil in the world!

    We pray that the Power of the Lord God will be with all the residents who are voting for President in the United States of America! We pray that all the voting places are safe, that all those who desire to vote may do so in safety! We pray that You dear Lord will walk with the new President, give them wisdom and guidance each day, we pray that You dear Lord will keep our countries safe and live in harmony with each other, We thank you in Jesus Name we Pray AMEN
