THE PREGNANT VIRGIN!

Today’s Reading Matthew 1-2

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

The Nativity Church in Bethlehem built over the grotto where Jesus was born. On the ceilings hang chandeliers and on the walls are fragments of mosaic. This building is the oldest standing church in the Holy Land. Originally built by Constantine’s mother in the 4th century, Emperor Justinian rebuilt the current structure in the 530’s. It was apparently spared destruction from the Persians in 614 A.D. because the invaders saw the depictions of the Magi on the walls. Local Muslim-Christian friendship is believed to be why the church was not destroyed during al-Hakim’s rule in 1009. The trapdoors in the floor reveal 4th-century floor mosaics from the Constantinian church.

Key Verse:  Matthew 1:23

Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His Name “Immanuel,” translated, “God with us.”

*God was with Joseph, who was instructed to marry Mary.
*God was with the Wise Men, who were told to bypass King Herod.
*God was with Mary and Joseph when they were told to seek refuge in Egypt.

When all is well, it’s easy to believe “God with us.” When there’s trouble, believe with child-like faith. Whether we feel like it or not, BELIEVE IT! IT’S A FACT!!! God is consistent. He is “IMMANUEL!!!” That kind of solid faith will release the love and provision of Immanuel into our lives and circumstances.

“Immanuel” Quotes:

I am with you always.” – JESUS (Matthew 28:20)

Abide in Me and I in you.” – JESUS (John 15:4)

I will never leave you.” – GOD (Hebrews 13:5)

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

I thank You, God, that You are with me always. Please forgive me for my sin and wrong that I have done. I give my life to You for always. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen!

NOW, please tell someone about your prayer. Call toll-free in Canada and the U.S. at 1-866-273-4444 or email us at ministry@crossroads.ca.

100 Personal Words (plus a few more) from David Mainse:

Why 100? That number says to me “Immanuel.” I had been hosting a weekly TV show called Crossroads from 1962 to 1977 when I saw the building at 100 Huntley Street in Toronto. The sun was glinting off the stainless steel street number 100. Suddenly, I knew why (over the preceding weeks) when I would open my Bible at random, my eyes would fall on the number 100. For example, “100 fold” in Jesus’ parable of the sower, or the 100th verse of the 119th Psalm. Even page 100 in my Bible would show up. I knew that it was time to move from the weekly show to daily. My wife, Norma-Jean, was the producer of Crossroads and it took me several days before I ventured to tell her that I wanted to name the new show after the address of the studio in downtown Toronto. Now, over 10,000 daily shows later, approximately 17,000 people have shared their stories on TV.  Millions of calls have come through to the 24/7 prayer lines. Many of these have personally experienced “Immanuel,” opening their minds to believe and their hearts to receive. Call and talk with God together with a prayer partner…a caring, loving, non-judgmental person. The phone number is 1-866-273-4444. If you should get a busy signal, try again.

Yours for sharing Immanuel with others,

David

P.S. Today also begins the new video version of my blog (a “blog”). It’s a 2-minute version which will air regularly on 100 Huntley Street and during breaks in the YES TV schedule. You can also watch it daily by clicking 100huntley.com/100words.

  1. Typo: new video version of my blog (a “blog”) should read “vlog.”

Awesome first vlog, David. Great to see and hear you and look forward to 100 Huntley Street, Monday morning. Great Word of God, this morning. “He did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son and he called His name Jesus.” “Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever.” Amen! Such a beautiful morning–so much to be thankful for. Blessings dearest saints, in the Lord!

  2. God has provided us with tremendous promises. Just imagine, we have a royal heritage through Christ Jesus! He has made us co-heirs with Him from the beginning of time and creation, and our great ancestral heritage is even outlined for us in Matthew chapter 1. Praise God, for He has provided for us yesterday, today and forever! He is our Father (Abba) and we are his children; this is His promise to us.

  3. Already in Heaven

There, in the stillness of the morning,
I feel Your presence, soaking me.
So rich, and pure, and real,
It feels like, I’m already in heaven.

I cannot explain how blissful it feels,
In the splendor of this moment.
Wrapped in a love, so deep and true,
It is like nothing, I have ever known.

    A rapture, yes, a rapture–oh so holy.
An angel whispered, gently, in my ear.
Arise and grasp the joyful waking wonder
That becomes, you, now, my dear.

I have awakened you, loved one,
    Receive My blessings, so abundant.
    And relish in the richness,
Of what joy, that is to come.

    • I just realized there is a typo in this new poem of mine. I completely left out the final verse:

      Already in Heaven

There, in the stillness of the morning,
I feel Your presence, soaking me.
So rich, and pure, and real,
It feels like, I’m already in heaven.

I cannot explain how blissful it feels,
In the splendor of the moment.

      And relish in the richness,
Of the glory, which is to come.

There, in the stillness of the morning,
I feel Your presence, soaking me.
So rich, and pure, and real,
It feels like, I’m already in heaven.

  4. Dear David:

My husband Reg and I along with members of St. Fisher Catholic Charismatic P.G. , Bramalea, On. visited 100 Huntley st., several times at Confederation St. We were even there when the late Mother Angelica of EWTN was on your programme and I think presented you with your first satellite. God Bless you and Norma Jean and of course your whole family for feeding us with the word of God daily. I send this to friends and relatives all over the world, even Bombay, India.

  5. So nice to see this first vblog with you David, taking this journey the 2nd time around with you. Just like tuning in to 100HS some years back. Along with the readings I can now click in to hear you as preaching the sermon. God Bless you David and oh yes…I love that tie too!

  9. Like the new look for the blog, and enjoyed the vlog–and the fact Yes TV will air it as well is great news– with all the dark messages even in ads, this will be a welcome change of pace and will introduce a whole new group of people to the wonders of Scripture– as always God starts something small and expands it –from a thought in your mind, to the web and now to this blog reaching out in vlog form is an modern example of the multiplication of loaves and fishes, God is at work, and that is always exciting and uplifting. PTL.

  10. Pastor David may the Lord continue to Bless you and your Family. I enjoy your blog and now you are giving us a vlog.

Thanks for the blessings you are sharing with us daily.

  11. here we go again, biblegateway does not talk the Scripture verses, it speaks Matthew Chapter 1 and then repeats, it does not go on to Chapter 2! I had that problem before and I quit because it’s frustrating, I have to shut down the computer, then open it, retype Biblegate.com Chapter 2 and then it reads again, and the Vlog or what ever you call it, I don’t get a picture just the Chapter and verse!
I talked with my service provider Shaw and they say they cannot change anything, that Biblegateway.com has to set up the program……..I have e mailed them but they do not respond……
It’s very frustrating that Biblegate.com does not work properly…….
I am not stressing about this situation! in the very begining 100words.ca was 100 words…..

    • Sometimes it pauses, for up to a few minutes, in between chapter readings. It is the program, not the computer, because my laptop does the same thing. This morning in Matthew 3, 4, it paused for two minutes in between. I read other scripture in the gap. I know it is frustrating, Sah, but don’t lose the blessing from it. What about praying out loud, repeating the Lord’s prayer; something that calms you? Try it again and it will work.

      • There are arrows on the right and left of the play arrow. Touch the right one and it changes to the next chapter.
