A PALM AND A CEDAR

Today’s Reading: Psalms 92-94

Key Verses: Psalm 92:12-14

The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,

He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Those who are planted in the house of the Lord

Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

They shall still bear fruit in old age;

They shall be fresh and flourishing…

Flourish! Flourish! Flourishing! We can choose to be like this as we grow into the likeness of Jesus Christ. Like the Date Palm tree, we can produce really good fruit (dates). Mmmm! Are we hungry yet? Like the Cedars of Lebanon, we can be the building materials for the Temple of God here on earth! We are the temples of the Holy Spirit! We are God’s dwelling place on earth (read 1 Corinthians 6:15-20).

Psalm 93 describes God as the eternal King over all creation!

Psalm 94 is an antidote to fear. “If I say, ‘My foot slips,’ Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up. In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul!” (94:18-19).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, in my prayer today I want to present before You everything that causes me to be anxious (I’m listing now privately at least three things that concern me deeply). I’m quoting the Apostle Paul now, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). In His Name I pray, Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

The palm tree produces fruit from a young age to old age. I sincerely want to be like that! It’s a reason for this blog! (I want everyone to know that they can start reading with me at any time and, God willing, in two years they will complete the entire Bible). The giant Cedar trees of Lebanon are always green (evergreen). They grow tall and are rooted very deeply, so that they can withstand any storm that comes, without being toppled. I sincerely want to be like that too! These blessings are from God, who grows, strengthens, and makes flourish all who surrender to Him as Saviour and Lord. As Psalm 92:2 tells me “To declare Your lovingkindness every morning” (the blog posted at 6:00 a.m.), and “Your faithfulness every night,” I try to do that also! As I retire at night, I read the Scriptures for the next morning, so they can percolate in my spirit overnight. Then I read the same portion the next morning, praying about what God is saying to me through His Word as I prepare to type these words.

Yours because of God’s lovingkindness and faithfulness!

David

P.S. Please pray for Ron & Ann Mainse as they take on a new challenge. Ron (who posts this blog for me at 6 a.m. daily) will continue on the 100 Huntley Street telecast reporting from the 24/7 prayer lines (over 13,000,000 calls to date). Instead of the responsibilities of administrative duties as Chief Ministry Officer for Crossroads Christian Communications Inc., he is taking on “Heart to Heart Marriage and Family Institute” as President. Heart to Heart is a ministry to married couples and families. Ann has been a board member of H2H for some time, and now she is joining Ron in helping to lead this ministry. Ron and Ann will be ministering to needs that Ron says makes him “weep and pound the table”…the breakdown of marriages and families. Check out Heart to Heart at www.h2hinstitute.com and be sure to pray for Ron and Ann. Encourage your church to invite them to your church for a Sunday morning or an all-day Saturday  marriage seminar with the Heart to Heart team. They are passionate for this very necessary and eternally important cause! Their team will also train “Marriage Mentors” who will minister to other couples under the leadership of the Pastor in the local church.

    • Lord God, our Heavenly Father, our Saviour Jesus Christ, and to the sanctity of the Holy Spirit, we hold up Joan, during her surgery on Wednesday. 2. Praying for you, Ron and Ann, as you begin working with H2H–a much needed ministry–amen! Thank you, David, for today’s message and scriptures.

We are joined to You, oh Lord, as one spirit, together. We flee from sinful ways and are reminded by our love for You Lord, to remain in healthy relationships that make us prosper and grow with You, Lord. For our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit who is in us, whom we have from You, for we are no longer our own. We give all the thanks and praise for Your undying gift and love for us, oh Lord. You are the alpha and the omega; the beginning and the end. We are nothing without and everything with You. And it is to You, that we lift up our hearts and give thanks and all the praise for Your glory and Holy Name. Amen, amen and amen! Blessings fellow saints!

  10. yes yes yes thank you God! There is a GREAT need for Marriage Ministering in this country, their needs to be Marriage Counselling BEFORE marriage, their needs to be support for men and women contemplating marriage! It seems there are courses for alot of other things, I think about CPR and First Responders Training! All this to learn how to save a life!
WELL, how about courses for those thinking about marriage, those who are engaged, and for our young people, courses offered when they begin dating! I think that is a great thing! These are courses offered to give a person an idea of what marriage is all about! I think it is great! I know of some cases where the couples married and then divorced and THEN STATED that they wished there could have been some studies that they could have attended to prepare them for marriage..
I truly believe Ron and Ann are perfect for this Ministry! Than you Lord God! This makes sense!

  11. God bless you Ron and Ann for stepping out in faith to serve God’s children in a new way. Thank you for your years of dedication to Crossroads and 100 Huntley Street in spreading the gospel and touching lives for Christ.
