Key Verse: Psalm 80:14-15

Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts;

Look down from heaven and see,

And visit this vine

And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted,

And the branch that You made strong for Yourself.

Psalm 79 pictures Jerusalem destroyed by surrounding nations. Yet at the time of Asaph Jerusalem was in the process of building the Temple. Under David and Solomon they experienced a period of safety and prosperity. Therefore, Asaph was given a prophecy of a time to come when the Babylonians, the Greeks, and the Romans would, at various times, fulfill this prophecy. Approximately 1/3 of the Bible is prophecy. Therefore, we would do well to be aware of what will come on the earth in our future or in the future of our children.

Three times in Psalm 80 we’ve read the prayer, “Restore us O God!” Our key verse cries out for God’s return and reminds God that He has planted His people as a vineyard. Three times also Asaph prays for God’s face to shine upon them. Without the sunshine the vineyard cannot be healthy. We need to cry out for God’s favour on our land, repenting for our sins and the sins of the people of this world.

Thank You, Father God, that You have restored me and others in our time by sending “the true Vine,” our Lord Jesus Christ! May I see Your face in Jesus today. I pray for Your continuing grace, Your favour, making Your face to shine upon us all. I ask with faith in the One who said, “I am the true Vine,” Jesus, Himself. Amen!!

I’ve just read Isaiah 5:1-7. This is a song sung by Isaiah about the vineyard of God’s people hundreds of years after Asaph’s song and just before the fulfillment of Asaph’s prophecy by the army of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. I’ve also read John 15:1-11, where Jesus, the true Vine, shows us the way to live so that, as Jesus said, “Your joy may be full.” The key words are: “Abide in Me (as a branch abides in the vine) and My words abide in you.”

Norma-Jean and I voted in the advance poll last Friday. We’ve done our part to elect the people we believe are best for Canada’s federal government over the next four years. The actual election day is Monday, October 19th! Please don’t fail to vote if you are a Canadian!!!

Tomorrow morning from 9:30 to 10:30 live on the Global TV Network, I’ve been invited by our Crossroads Global CEO, Dr. John Hull, to host the 10,000th telecast of 100 Huntley Street. How about that for a man in his 80th year!!! Please watch and then let me know your thoughts on the broadcast by a response here on the blog. I’ll treasure your comments…positive or negative. Get everyone you know to watch. There’s a repeat on YES-TV at 11 a.m., and then John will host a live prime time edition on YES-TV.

Yours to bless you and thank you for your faithful support through the years!!!

P.S. I celebrated with some family members last night as we watched the Toronto Blue Jays defeat Texas in their crucial playoff match. Knuckleballer R. A. Dickey pitched an excellent game for Toronto. Our 100 Huntley Street crew taped a great interview with R. A. Dickey where he shares his powerful personal story of faith. You can watch it HERE.

P.P.S. I told my great-grandchildren about the upcoming 10,000th program of 100 Huntley Street and they started celebrating with me already (see photos below). There’s a whole lot of celebrating going on this week!

    that they won!

  6. There are many avenues to make change in our lives, but often only lead back to where we started. The vine that is rooted (or routed) in Christ has proven time and time again to be our only real assurance of staying on “true track.” My prayers are with you David, as you host the 10,000th airing of 100 Huntley Street, and point the way!

      • I watched that interview of R.A.Dickey a while back and just bought the book and reading it because of seeing him on 100 Huntley St. Looking forward to the 10,000 show tomorrow. David & Norma Jean you both have a beautiful legacy to leave for your great grandchildren, thanks for sharing stories and pics of them. May God continue to bless you both and keep yous in his care!

  7. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing…. As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” Thank You, Jesus, for Your guidance and everlasting love. Thanks for the great photos, David. I will be watching, tomorrow. Way to go Blue Jays! God’s continued blessings, dearest saints.

  8. Congratulations on 10,000 shows. That is incredible. 100 Huntley continues to inspire many people, myself included, on a daily basis. May God bless you for many years to come. (Thanks for sharing the R. A.
Dickey interview. He is a class act)

  9. I am always sharing portions from 100 Words on my FB when I feel led to do so.It is often one of the links provided and so it was today but when I red more of this scripture, one of my poems jumped into my head demanding to be included with that post so I went back and edited it to include this poem.
I do not get secular TV normally, just FTA TV so I don’t get any networks but I remember seeing YES TV listed on one of the FTA satellites so I will have to find that one.Thank you for all you do,David.I am nearly finished my 2 year mark with 100 Words.God bless
    Abide In Me

Abide in me and I will give you life,
For if you first seek me out sincerely
Then you will share what grows rife,
In My grace where you are held dearly.

You are a branch and I am the tree,
With Me you will know life eternal,
But if cut off from your life with Me,
You are doomed to a life infernal.

So into my open arms you must flee,
For I love all who seek out my trust,
To accept the love, abundant and free,
Instead of greed that turns all to dust.

God bless you David as you continue to bless others!! THANK YOU!!

  15. Voted also early. Today I saw a beautiful flower. I wanted to ask what the name of the flower is but the clerk was talking to someone and I didn’t get the opportunity. It is a very small, dark royal purple colour, very round in shape like a miniature mum. It had one row circling near the top, of TINY white stars. So beautiful. So amazing. I don’t think even a florist could dream up such a beautiful little thing. May all eyes be open to God’s amazing beauty.
