Key Verses: Acts 27:22 & 24b

And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship…….God has granted you all those who sail with you.

From time to time throughout 37 years of the daily 100 Huntley Street television ministry, we have featured “household salvation” based on Paul’s statement to the Philippian prison warden, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household” (Acts 16:31). As people began to pray with greater fervency for their loved ones, miracles have taken place. We have received reports of entire families accepting Jesus as their Saviour, and others where every week a new family member has come into Christ’s Kingdom. Now, in today’s reading, we see people being saved in a physical way. The same God who keeps His promises is at work. In a very real sense, “God has granted you all those who sail with you” (27:24b). It is our responsibility to live a Christ-like life, to speak to our family members with wisdom and love, and to pray continually for them. We must never, never give up. We can expect God to protect and save each one.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, I pray for the protection and salvation of each of my family members by name… “_________”, and also for those I’ve spiritually adopted (names). I also pray for all others who “sail” with me. Keep each one in Your love and by Your power. Save each one. In Your name I pray, Lord Jesus. Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

At the close of thousands of letters I have written, I would have these words, “May the Lord keep you in His love and by His power. In Christ’s love and service, David Mainse.” I still do that because I believe with all my heart that there is a personal loving God who is “Not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). When I knew Norma-Jean was expecting, I began to pray fervently for the salvation of each precious little one. These prayers continue to this day. It would be the greatest tragedy, having been responsible for helping to bring my children into this world, for them to be lost eternally. How I rejoiced when they were still small to hear them pray to receive Jesus into their hearts. I know that their names were written in “the Book of Life” (Rev. 21:27). As I type this, I’ve taken the time to read, for additional scriptural input, the entire last chapter in the Bible, Revelation 22. Also, several times, as I’ve prayed this morning, the old hymn “Rescue the Perishing” has come from my lips. Ron knows how to find these old hymns on the Internet. I’ll ask him to do this before this is posted (OK Dad, the link is HERE – Ron).

Yours for the salvation of our families and other loved ones,

David

  1. My question from December 5th, Acts 16 remains–who is narrating parts of Acts, as is the case again, today, in Acts 27, when it is not Paul personally speaking? Who is the “we” describing “sailing with Paul to Rome”? My research has pointed to Luke writing about his adventures with Paul and the others who are often noted (i.e. Silas in Acts 16). Isn’t anyone else intrigued by this? Will write more later about Paul. Blessings dear saints.

  2. Loved your personal words this morning David. Reminding us that God is not willing that any of my family perish. Will continue to pray and believe these words on behalf of some of my family that know about God but not in a personal way. Trusting His promises and thank you for reminding me of that old hymn “Rescue the Perishing”
So look forward to your words each day David. God continue to bless you with good health.

  3. Pastor David, you have echoed my heart and thoughts completely this morning. I have a story to tell about this key verse and Acts 16:31. God bless you choice servant of God! Blessings dear saints!

  4. Thank you David Mainse for your daily bread… We recently learned that my daughter who lives out of province is expecting her second child and is due to give birth some time in late July. Praise God!
Ditto on your words David – from above … “It is our responsibility to live a Christ-like life, to speak to our family members with wisdom and love, and to pray continually for them. We must never, never give up. We can expect God to protect and save each one.”
Have a blessed day blog friends…

    • Such great news to look forward to! Congrats to all of you! Amen to David Mainse quote. May Our Lord guide and help us each step of the way as we extend His good news and message of hope and faith!

  5. Paul’s steadfast faith in The Lord is an encouragement and thank you Pastor David and your family for your steadfastness in getting our blog out each day.

My internet was down for a few days, but have now just caught up, taking in all the fresh manna.

    Blessings to all.

  6. Thank you David.
So many of us have loved family members who reject our Lord, and we pray that they not miss the way. DavidsTime is short. Our hearts ache for them. Your words, the beautiful hym and prayer are so very helpful.
    Bless You.
    A comment for Beverlee Kay.
Yes, you are correct Luke did write “Act’s”. The introduction to my Study Bible “tells me so””
Study Bibles are an invaluable source of enrichment, knowledge, wisdom, understanding and enjoyment to your reading. Try to take the time if you are able. We all have such busy lives, but I am finding that this extra time reading the notes to be so very helpful.

  7. Amen, David Mainse! Thank you for living the example you preach, praying for each and every family member and loved one, daily.

Paul told them: “Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me…” As Jesus foreknew His death for the sake of God, Paul did as well. Both put their complete faith and trust in God regardless of facing pain and persecution. Paul stood courageous and urged the others to. We are reminded of the same, saints. Let us stand strong “of the God to whom we belong” as Paul would have said. Peace be with you, fellow saints and dear ones–may you share all the blessings of this glorious day. Amen!

  8. I too read from the Bible…as the link comes up as Acts 1&2,

I too pray from my family daily…so joined with your prayer including the names of my family…and those under my wing.

Thank you Ron for including the song: Thank you Reynold for the beautiful photo.

  9. Hi David
I received another e-mail in my box, today, David, from a young Canadian husband and father, who, like you ,

has a zeal for the Lord and a deep desire to bring Him souls.
His name is Mark Mallett. He is truly a prophetic voice speaking truth into the chaos
    of our turbulent times.
I think you and he would be on the same page re: signs of the times.
