Key Verse: Numbers 11:14

I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me. If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now — if I have found favor in Your sight — and do not let me see my wretchedness!

Imagine how excited all the people were as…”They started out for the first time” (10:13). It is plain to see that the emotions they felt were not grounded in faith. Almost immediately they began to complain about the food. They remembered the menu back in Egypt, and they were not happy campers. Complaining always has a ripple effect. Now Moses is complaining to God. God has a solution as He always does. We need to read twice Numbers 11:16-30. Moses’ response was prophetic, “O that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them.” Joel’s prophecy (Joel 2:28) predicted this. Peter quoted Joel (Acts 2:14-21) to explain that God was now doing what Moses longed for. God put His Spirit upon the Lord’s people and they prophesied. What is New Testament prophecy? “The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy” (Revelation 19:10b).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, John the Baptist said of You, “He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” I ask for today, and every day, that You will immerse me in Your Holy Spirit, and keep me submerged in the Spirit always so that I will constantly speak, “the testimony of Jesus.” Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

When I first became a Dad, I remember reading Numbers 11. There were two “dads” (I’m stretching it a bit here)…Eldad and Medad, who were home, and while they had responsibilities as elders, they had not made it to Moses’ meeting. Nevertheless, God put His Spirit upon them at home, just as He did on those who were in the tent of meeting. They prophesied (11:26) right where they were. I expect God’s Spirit to come upon me when I’m at a meeting, but also when I’m not. Moses was so depressed over the complaints of the people that he asked God to kill him. Then, he and Elijah (who also asked God to take him out of this life) showed up on the Mount of Transfiguration to strengthen Jesus who, in His humanity, needed the ministry of these men. If Jesus needed their company, so do I. I’m here in Israel as I type this, but I don’t actually expect Moses to show up. However, Moses’ words are showing up before me, and his words encourage me to press on.

Yours for uplifting messages from Moses, Peter, Elijah, and most of all from Jesus!

David

  2. Moses had a tough job keeping so many people satisfied. Praise the Lord for helping him by giving his elders the Spirit to encourage the disgruntled.
May God keep you and yours safe from evil and harm Rev. DM this Remembrance time in our lives.
Off to see my brand new baby grandson to be brought into this world this a.m. Our roads are snow-covered and icy but with God’s good grace we’ll make it.
Blessings on all dear fellow saints.

    • Just saw our new great grandson. Such a wonderful experience – to hold a newborn baby. Wonderful to read of the prophesy of the last days (many of which we are seeing now). May you have the very best experiences in Israel that you have ever had David & Norma Jean.

    • This is just too beautiful not to share.

      THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

      ‘Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you ?
Have you always turned the other cheek ?
To My Church have you been true?’

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
      ‘No, Lord, I guess I ain’t.
Because those of us who carry guns,
      Can’t always be a saint.

I’ve had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
      And sometimes I’ve been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
      That wasn’t mine to keep…
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
      And sometimes, God, forgive me,
      I’ve wept unmanly tears.

      I know I don’t deserve a place,
      Among the people here.
      They never wanted me around,
      Except to calm their fears.

If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
      It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
      As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

      ‘Step forward now, you soldier,
      You’ve borne your burdens well.
      Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in Hell.’

Praise God for your safe arrival Pastor David and we pray the same for the others on Thurs. with Norma-Jean.

Grumbling can be a part of all of us, and so I pray we will be careful before we show we are unhappy with a situation. Always lessons to be learned from our blog. PTL. Blessings fellow saints.

  7. Powerful message in Numbers 10, 11; from Moses, God, and your 100words, David Mainse. Thank you for reminding us about Elijah and Moses strengthening Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration. Thank You, Jesus! Enjoy every precious moment in Israel, David. God’s continued blessings to you and all the dear saints.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven Matthew 5:16 (KJV).

  8. The birth of the new born babes to Doreen and Lynda, brings to mind the song “Because He lives”..the second verse “How sweet to hold a new born baby, and feel the pride and joy he brings…”
So good to know that we don’t have to go it alone, but we have the Holy Spirit to “keep us on paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake.”
