WATCH

Today’s Reading: Mark 13

Nazareth Village is a unique place where visitors experience life in the first century. Pictured above is a synagogue as it may have looked at the time when Jesus read prophetic words about Himself from the prophet Isaiah (Luke 4:16-20).

Key Verse: Mark 13:35-37

Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming — in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning — lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!

The destruction of the Temple happened in 70 A.D. We are still living in the times predicted by the Son of God who was also the greatest Prophet. The fig tree, the symbol of Israel as a nation, has been given new life. Never before in human history has an ancient nation been reborn with their own territory, and never before has a dead language been fully restored (Hebrew). What is the core message of today’s reading? JESUS IS COMING AGAIN SOON! Most people live their lives oblivious to this fact. Over 500 references to His coming in power and glory are in the Bible. If we lived in the continuous awareness of His coming, how different our lives would be!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, I praise You for the truth of Your soon return. Please give me the alertness to be constantly watching for Your coming. May my life, my witness for You, my finances, and my deeds be pleasing in Your sight, so that I will not be ashamed at the moment of Your return. I pray this in Your Name, Jesus. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I heard a preacher say, “Who will be taken up with Jesus when He comes? Answer: Those who are taken up with Him now!” My wife, Norma-Jean, tries to make sure that I don’t get distracted by the daily pressures of life, forgetting that Jesus could return at any second. I think she averages at least once a day saying, “David, Jesus is coming soon.” It’s her way of keeping me on the “straight and narrow,” I think. In turn, I remind her of the same. I’m looking out the window to the east as I type this. The stars that I saw earlier have disappeared, and our star, the sun, has cast a pre-dawn light across the sky. I’m deeply moved to think that Jesus could come today. One of my main intentions in doing this blog is to help keep all who join me from sleeping spiritually. It’s time to “rise and shine!”

Yours in keen anticipation of His soon return,

David

  5. Thank you for your message, today, David Mainse–and Norma Jean–reminding us that today could be the day–when we see Jesus!!! We are with You, Lord, Jesus! Rising and shining to greet the day. All for Your glory and praise! Thank You, God, for giving us the Word, and life and salvation through Your Son, our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ! Thank You, dear Jesus, for giving us direction through Your words in Mark 13. Only our Heavenly Father knows the end date. Let us release our pride and remain humble in all things!

    He Giveth More Grace by Annie J. Flint

    “He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
    He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
    To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
    To multiplied trials He multiplies peace.
    When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
    When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
    When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
    Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
    Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
    Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
    Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
    The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
    His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
    His power no boundary known unto men;
    For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
    He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.”

    I lay my burdens down before You, Lord–my great Provider and Healer, I place my trust in You, and You alone. You know what my situation is. You know what my needs are. I release it all and lay down my pride. I have made poor choices based on following my own will rather than waiting and trusting in You. I thank You for forgiving me, Lord. I thank You for Your loving grace! I thank You for all that You have given, again and again! We are nothing without You, but everything with You! Amen, amen, and amen!

    Jesus is coming again soon gives such joy to the the faithful and weary.

  9. Mark 13: 7-8

    7 But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles.[a] These are the beginnings of sorrows.

    May we continue to pray for Israel beloved and be ever watchful for our Lord Jesus coming return… Amen!

    Blessings brothers and sisters in Christ

It was great to sit at the kitchen table with you and Norma Jean and the all the wonderful story’s that you shared with Cathy and me, we were Blessed and we stand with you in hopes of being ready. Thanks and God Bless you and Norma Jean for you sacrifice.

  11. When you look at this key verse, we are to be ready at all times; ” in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning.” Felt the calling of the Lord to get up and pray in early morning. Lot of things coming up that need the help of the Lord for His purposes to be fulfilled. Thanks, David and Norma-Jean for helping us to be ready. Like that song, Beverlee. God bless you dear saints!

  12. I thank you for helping to awaken me from my spiritual slumber, David. I spent many years wanting to read the Bible in its entirety, but never did. It wasn’t until I got very sick, a few months after you started the original blog, when I began to read the word. Your being here with me and with us, has meant a lot. Thank you.

  13. Dear Rev. David M. and Norma-Jean.
    Both of you are so wise to remind us again and again of Jesus soon to return .

    Heavenly Father , we give You thanks, we give you praise for not giving up on us and sending Your precious Son Jesus , our Saviour, our Messiah, our Teacher and through HIS EXTRAORDINARY RESSURECTION leaving us with the Power and the Guidance of The Holy Spirit . So let us be each of us every second of the day A LIVING SANCTUARY ready to do Your will, in Jesus precious name , Amen, Amen.

    HEAVEN AND EARTH WILL PASS AWAY, BUT MY WORDS WILL NEVER PASS AWAY. ( Mark 13.. 31)

    Have a blessed day everyone .
    xoxoxo Carole.

  14. I lift my praises to You, Our Triune God The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Thank you Pastor David and Norma-Jean for reminding us to daily Watch, as Jesus might come today. What a wonderful way to begin our day to say “Jesus is coming”. And then to join everyone in reading our blog and pray.

    I was able to share with my 11 yr. old grand daughter the temple picture as I am sure our little ones can’t imagine what places of worship were like then. Good opportunity to share. Thanks Reynold. Blessings to all. Rise and shine…,,,
    WATCH!!!!

  15. At CFO Summer Camp, through the years, this is one of the songs we sang:
    “I’m awake, alert, alive, enthusiastic; I’m awake, alert, alive, enthusiastic, alive, alert, awake, awake, alert alive,enthusiastic”
    Heavenly Father, I pray it be so, as we in obedience to the words of Jesus to “watch and pray” for we do not know the time of His coming: Only The Father knows the time and the hour of Jesus’ coming.
    And we need to be about Our Father’s business as we “Watch and pray”
    Thank you Rev. David and Norma-Jean for reminding us that…
    “Jesus is coming soon”

  16. Thank you David, for this vital reminder that Jesus may come at any time and we must be continually watching for His return. Also, for the wonderful photos and details that your son produces daily, they are very much appreciated! Blessings!!
