Key Verse: Micah 4:2

Many nations shall come and say,

“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,

To the house of the God of Jacob;

He will teach us His ways,

And we shall walk in His paths.”

For out of Zion the law shall go forth,

And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

In yesterday’s reading there is a contrast between “Do not My Words do good to him who walks uprightly” (Micah 2:7b), and the twice-repeated word, “prattle” or “incessant babble” (Micah 2:6 &11). The consistent reading of God’s Word does us GOOD! We can’t avoid taking in “prattle,” but we can keep it to a minimum.

Micah 3 gives us an example of “prattle,” those “who chant peace” (Micah 3:5). Jeremiah writes of those who “Say, ‘peace, peace’ when there is no peace” (Jeremiah 6:14b). The Apostle Paul writes, “For when they say, ‘peace and safety,” then sudden destruction comes upon them” (read 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11). Many peace activists must not realize that their starting point is all wrong. Micah 4 makes it clear that first we must take in “the Word of the Lord” (Micah 4:2b). As a result of God’s Word in the hearts and minds of people, God will rebuke “strong nations” and “they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, etc. (Micah 4:3).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, through Isaiah You told me that You would keep me in perfect peace when my mind is stayed or anchored on You! I pray for discipline to be consistent in my input of Your Word into my mind every day! As a result, You will give me personal peace. I will be a peaceful place in the midst of a world in turmoil. May Your peace spread through me to others. In the Name of “the Prince of peace,” Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I’m in Florida where Norma-Jean and I have a mobile home in a senior’s park. I’m using that mysterious thing to me called “WiFi.” I understand it is facilitated by a satellite somewhere up above the earth. I’ve just purchased a GPS (global positioning system) unit for my motorcycle, as I plan, God willing, to ride it back to Canada shortly. I can find my directions to my sister Elaine’s place in Kentucky, and my nephew David’s place in Indiana on a road map, but that’s tough to follow, particularly on a motorcycle. “Mabel,” the name I call the GPS person who speaks into my ear inside my helmut with instructions, “Turn right” etc., will be a great help in getting me to the place to which I want to go. God’s Word is like that. The scholars consulted by King Herod were able to pinpoint the place of the birth of the new King by reading from the Word of God (but I should wait 24 hours, as that’s in tomorrow’s reading).

Yours for hearing God through reading His Word daily!

David

  2. Excellent teaching, this morning on Micah–prattle was important to unravel–thank you, David Mainse! Praying for perfect peace and protection for your return to Canada on the motorcycle!

We are awake in the spirit, oh Lord–awaiting–for we do not know when You shall return! We are sober and watching; wearing our breastplates of faith and love and helmets of the hope of salvation. We are appointed by You, God, to live together with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. All for His Glory (1 Thes 5:1-11). He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths (Mic 4:2b). We learn to trust in You, Lord with all our heart, and lean not unto our own understanding. In all our ways, we shall acknowledge You, Lord, and know that You shall direct our path (Pro 3:5-6). We commit ourselves to You, Lord. We have complete trust and faith that You will deliver us, and we allow You to rescue us, because we know You delight in us (Psa 22:8). We adore You, Lord! Your scripture says, because we love you, that You shall rescue and protect us, for we acknowledge Your name, oh Lord (Psa 91:14). Oh God, we trust our lives to You. We give You everything! We remain anchored on You and have perfect peace! How we adore You!! Oh, how we adore You!!!

God bless ye merry saints on this precious day of worship!!

  3. Enjoy your ride back to Canada. Using the GPS will certainly make it easier! Remember to have all your documents (purchase papers in the US) ready for the Canadian border. Great picture Reynold, thanks! Enjoy this “Palm Sunday,” commemorating Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

  4. Great study again today DM. What patience God has!
A GPS is an awesome heip in travelling, but please rely on a good up-to-date paper road map too. Many people get into trouble just relying on their GPS.
I’m sure I’m not the only person praying for God’s intervention in the Ukraine/Russia fiasco. May God choose a peaceful settlement for all.
Blood moon coming to our area (PDT) on Tues. 15th @ 12:42:18 a.m. Will try to get pics.

  6. Wow David, Take it easy on the road when you ride back to Toronto. We just did it,by car, and it takes 22hours, which we spread over 3 days. It will be be fabulous to feel the wind and wonderful exihilarating freedom you get when you ride that motor cycle, but please use wisdom and listen to your body, you are not 16 you know! and you are far too precious to risk overdoing it! However, you must be feeling great to be planning this trip with your GPS Mabel, does that mean Norma-Jean will not be riding on the back!! Oh no, take the plane Norma-Jean, take the plane!! l’m sure you have already heard this from those nearest and dearest to you, if it’s O.K. with the Lord, it’s O.K. with us. Blessings!

  7. God bless you David and Norma Jean, I pray for protection now and along the trip, bask to Canada. There is much fire in them there bones. Praise God! What a testimony to, on lookers. I think it will speak to many non believers as well as strengthen us believers. You are a mighty warrior David fighting on many fronts. We are behind you, lead us the way. In the lords army. God-speed. How many bikers are you going to be traveling with? Trust in GOD. AMEN!

  9. Wow David, biking all the way back to Canada! God has blessed you with great strength and health and joie de vivre! I know the Lord has his angels watching over you and that the prayers of your loved ones and blog family go with you. As I am nearing retirement in my teaching career, I am really enjoying this picture you are giving me of you on your motorcycle on the open road. (watch for Canadian gravel when you get back!)
    🙂

  10. God bless you. Dress warm David and be ready for surprises. Our son Peter 27 biked back home from Alberta last spring, with his buddies. He was alone on the trip back to Aberta though. He ran into some rain and cold weather, near Longlac Ont. He had to stop and buy himself a pair of Long-Johns. Peter is our story teller and he makes up good stories out of all his adventures. I’m looking forward to hearing the play by play of your adventure. You encourage us all David. God bless you and your family.

  11. Praying for safety Pastor David as you ride back to Canada, and praying for Norma-Jean as well.
As we enter Holy week thanking the Lord for His sacrifice on the cross!
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
Have a blessed day one and all.

  12. We will pray for your safe return too. Be aware that sometimes Mable tells lies! (We have experienced that while being driven in a limo)! Do take care. God protect you.

  13. Way to go David I can’t believe you are riding your motorcylcle back to Canada when the Drs. said you would be in heaven by now. Well God still has work for you to do. Lorena Crocker

  14. I used to run 6 miles every 2nd day many years ago… most of the time in the early morning or early evening, but there was the odd time when I ran in the heat of the day or even in the dark… This was a very “one on one” time with my Maker, having experienced numerous Christ-Like apparitions, sometimes miracles, and I believe sometimes passing angels…

I know of other runners who also found running a real joy and moving experience with their Maker…

I’m assuming David Mainse that you feel that oneness with our precious Lord and Saviour as well when you ride… and understand your desire to experience that closeness again…

May our Heavenly Father guide you, protect you, perhaps fill you with new insight as you journey home. God bless you as you travel. Amen!

  15. Covering you in prayer David as you ride your motorcycle back to Canada. God must have strengthened you to do this. Journey mercies with regard to your GPS, the weather, and all else. We are presently in Florida enjoying our vacation and daily following your blog. It’s a must in our walk with The Lord.
    God bless everyone.
