Key Verse: Job 30:20a

I cry out to You, but You do not answer me!

Some people, who do not know the promises made to humanity by Jesus, can come to the conclusion that God does not care about them. Attempts to get His attention seem to fail! There are no immediate visible results. Job had lost everything except his wife. He may have retained his land and some of his wealth. Between the complaints by his wife and the boils from which he was suffering, life was awful. Nevertheless, as we hang in there in our readings, we’ll actually find a happy ending.

In our time, many have suffered more than Job. In concentration camps, war, crimes against humanity, families, houses, land, friends, possessions, and life itself has been lost. Seeing this, people ask, “So where is your God?…Why does He allow this?” The answer for our minds says, “God gave us free will and He refuses to make us less than human by turning us into robots and puppets which He manipulates.” We have used our freedom to hurt each other and there are dire consequences in this life which we must endure. For the believer there is the promise of the hereafter. Heaven awaits! Be sure to watch 100 Huntley Street during September for a whole month of teaching on Heaven.

So that’s a brief answer for our minds, but the answer for our hearts, our souls and spirits is in the promise of Jesus. He’s the One who changes everything! He says, “Take heart, I have overcome the world!” (John 14:33). Please read His promise found in John 11:21-27. Also read Matthew 28:1-20. Jesus cannot lie! Decide to believe Him!!! It’s your choice!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, I choose to believe You! I pray that when my mind brings a doubtful thought, I will believe my beliefs and not my doubts. I know it’s not a sin to doubt, but when a doubt comes, illuminate my mind to think clearly and logically, thinking Your thoughts after You! In Your Name I pray, Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

We met a wonderful lady named Amelia on one of our trips to Israel. She joined our group from Canada. We get to know so many precious people as we live together for two whole weeks (We are going again November 12 – 26 this fall. We’ll close off registration in 8 days. There are still several places available for our fellow bloggers. Click here for information and contact Norma-Jean right away). Amelia was driven out of a communist eastern European country, her family scattered, and her home confiscated by the state. She ended up in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, where she established a private hospital, through God-given business skills and her nursing profession. After the fall of communism in her homeland, she returned and knocked on the door of her home. The lady, who with her family was living in Amelia’s home, was filled with fear as she saw Amelia at the door. Homes under the new government were being restored to their rightful owners. Amelia immediately began to share the love of Christ and said, “Don’t worry, the house is yours, I’m not going to take it back. God has blessed me greatly in my new homeland of Canada.” Amelia is now 86, and while she no longer has her small hospital, she lives a blessed life!

Yours for trusting God in the good as well as the bad,

David

  1. Romans 5:3-5
“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

  2. a very familiar true story ….I know “Amelia” very well since my childhood …she and her wonderful family have been a Blessing to me (and to many)….for all those years…I came to know Jesus more than 34yrs. ago as my personal Lord and Savior through her daughter one of my closest friends….and Amelia….this wonderful encourager is into her 90’s now and I appreciate and love her dearly…..she always loved and appreciated you David and your family and ministry….loved reading part of her story in your wonderful blog this morning….

  6. I was all day in the ER today (taken from church). I feel a little bit like Job just now. Am suffering pain, falls, loss of balance, and shakiness. Drs think there is pressure on the vegus nerve. I hope to join Job in celebration on the other side of my present circumstances. Won’t be able to travel. I did see on the news at the ER that the papers were being removed from the Wailing Wall. They said this happens once a year. I do hope to get my prayers to you David before you leave. (I had wondered if they cleaned the old ones out). Thanks again and God bless you all.

    • I will be praying for you Doreen– I know from experience trips to the ER are no fun and exhausting. Try to get a good night sleep and take comfort in the fact, this might have been an unexpected turn of events for you, but Lord knew this was coming and was on it before you even knew you needed Him for it.

  7. once again I am deeply touched by your prayer on August 25th, 2013. I needed to read that prayer. God bless you Mr. Mainse and thank you for the blog. Your words have been very comforting for me and I believe for many others also!

  8. Job 29: Job remembers the past and God’s goodness to him…
as we often do, when life is not as it was as the Israelites did in the desert, asking why God brought them to this desert place to die; being in the desert feeling God does not care.

    Irene
