Suggested Reading: 2 Chronicles 32

The biggest stone in the Western Wall of the Temple Mount, often called the Western Stone, is revealed within the tunnel excavations. That stone ranks as one of the heaviest objects ever lifted by human beings without powered machinery. The stone has a length of 13.6 metres (45 ft), height of 3 metres (9.8 ft), and an estimated width of between 3.5 metres (11 ft) and 4.5 metres (15 ft). Estimates place its weight at 570 tons.

Key Verse: 2 Chronicles 32:20

Now because of this King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, prayed and cried out to heaven.

There is a consistent message which runs through the entire Bible: If we choose to stand with the Lord, we cannot lose. The claim has often been made, “God with us!” However, the more important consideration is, “Are we with God?” Being with God may not always mean success in terms understood by the world around us. Hebrews 11 tells us of many who found victory by suffering and dying for the cause of the Lord. Throughout history, whether to live or die, a person standing with God has been found to be unbeatable.

King Sennacherib was right when he proclaimed that his armies had triumphed everywhere. But he did not know the God of Hezekiah and Isaiah! What a powerful team these two made. The King and the Prophet! They proved that there is more strength in fervent prayer than in weaponry, more power in faith in God than in armies.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, like Hezekiah and Isaiah, I’m praying and crying out to Heaven. The key verse for today and Your response bring great encouragement to me. When Your cause, Your Church, and Your people are mocked and held up to ridicule, I rejoice because I know that the scoffers will return home ashamed, as Sennacherib did. Thank You, Lord, for responding when I pray, and thank You for prayer partners. Like Hezekiah, I’m not alone! I pray in Jesus’ Name, Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Many 100 Huntley Street viewers will remember Rev. Norm MacLaren. He led our prayer partners team for many years and would report daily from the prayer phones with news of what was happening on the phones and what God was doing in lives. Norm would give us a Word from God which helped provide courage to continue. Norm now serves with the great “Teen Challenge” ministry, helping to transform lives for time and eternity.

I had known Norm for years before he came on our full-time team. He and his family had told their story of God’s answer to prayer on the telecast when he was a New Brunswick Pastor. Shortly thereafter he was elected to the Board of Directors of Crossroads, where he served for 8 years. Then came a really big battle in the Crossroads ministry. 21 years ago we found ourselves facing a large overrun in the costs of building the new Crossroads Centre. I would be in the Chapel crying out to God for His supply very early each morning. Then one morning I found a prayer partner who drove all the way from Kitchener-Waterloo to Burlington. Every morning, Monday through Friday, for several months he joined me in my cry to God. You guessed it. It was Norm, who was at that time a Pastor of a great church. He had big responsibilities in his congregation and he would be back on the job there at the usual time when he would be expected to be at his church, never neglecting his congregation. Like the two in today’s reading, we cried out to Heaven, and the Lord answered from Heaven and gave us a great victory. Thanks Norm for being an Isaiah to this would-be leader.

Yours for finding a prayer partner. Jesus said, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in Heaven” (Matthew 18:19). AMEN!!!

David

The Western Wall Tunnel is an underground tunnel exposing the full length of the Western Wall. The tunnel is adjacent to the Western Wall and is located under buildings of the Old City of Jerusalem. While the open-air portion of the Western Wall is approximately 60 metres (200 ft) long, the majority of its original length is hidden underground. The tunnel allows access to an additional 485 metres (1,591 ft) of the Wall. Since the Temple Mount is controlled by Muslims, these Jewish women are as close as they can get to what was the Holy of Holies.

This photo was also taken in the Western Wall Tunnel and is looking straight down through plexiglass on which visitors can walk. The excavations have gone quite deep.

  1. Amazing photo’s, Reynold. In the bottom photo of the tunnel, it looks like a face at two o’clock above the glare. It was an inspirational talk Hezekia gave to his people in the square to be strong and of good courage and know their God will bring them through. So stand by our same Lord is equally encouraging, prevailing against other powers and principalities here on earth. We are strengthened and empowered to pray together and particularly blessed to find another to pray with! Thank you for your encouragement this day as we lift our prayers to the King of Kings, Christ Jesus!! Amen!!!

  2. Thank you David for sharing the story of Norm,
coming along side of you and believing with
you for the great financial need at that time.
Our God is so good…He hears and He answers
our cries to Him. I always appreciated Norm’s
    ministry.

I enjoyed the reading today, and it is always so
    encouraging when someone “finishes well”.
    Hezekiah did.

Verse 31 reminds me of Deut. 8:2. That entire
chapter is good to read when going thru the
storms that come in our lives. What God permits
is only for my good. David, in the Psa. said in
Psa. 119:71…It was good for me to be afflicted,
so that I might learn Your degrees. I’m so thankful
that God wastes nothing and the difficult times
in my life have helped me to grow in a greater
intimacy with my Lord. I thank Him and praise
Him for His faithfulness and every spiritual
    blessing.

Thank you David for not deserting the goal God
had for you in your life…you were faithful when
many times the way before you looked impossible.
Your life and the ministry have blessed me and my
family so-o-o much. Praise the Lord, we thank
Him. Have a blessed day everyone.

  3. What a wonderful Lord and Savior we have leading and partnering faithfully with His own given prayers supplying our each and every need. Christ’s faithful Love abides forever.

  4. Great reading today and to know Hezekiah finished well. A faithful partner in prayer is special to have beside you, and it was great to hear how Norm came along side of you Pastor David. I am so grateful for the times The Lord has sent someone to pray with and for me.

I pray for all my blog saints today, that Jesus will be very present beside you as you face your various tasks for the day and you will sense His loving arms gathering you under His wings. Bless all of you this day and thanks for all of your encouragement each day.

  5. Amen to what you said Connie, and I argree with you Scott.
Thank you Scott for putting up the link to the video there are many who really need
find the help and don’t know where to look we just have to point them to the one who
    can Jesus Christ our Saviour.

  6. Praise the Lord!!! What an exciting read 2Chronicles vs:32 was.
I felt butter flies in my stomach with delight as I knew beyond a shadow
of a dout that God would hear and answer Hezekiah and Isaiah’s cries for help.

The photos of the tunnel took me back to 2011 when my husband Jerry and I
whent on the tour to Israel with David and Norma -Jean and the gang. I say Gang
with much affection. What wonderful people.
If you have not been on that tour ….. you are missing outon a trip of a life time. If the Lord wills it I would some day like to return to Israel
There is still so much more to see.

Being a Christian some times can mean believing with out seeing .Going to Israel
allows you to add another dimention to your faith. It was some times over whelming, to walk where Jesus walked to see what Jesus saw.
The garden of Gehseminey was one of those places where I felt over whelmed.
my legs turned to water, my stomach turned sickley, I had a knot in my throught
I felt fear and a sense of in discridable dread. And I burst in to tears.
Oh dear Just recolectig that has brought on those tears.

The price our precious Lord paid for our sins …no one can measure.
Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice. Thank you for interceading with
Our Father in heaven on our behalf.

Sigh….Sob…well…. buy for now Blessings to all.
    M:-)

  7. Teen Challenge has been a favourite ministry of ours over the years. We donated cars and a piano to them. We loved the young fellows who came to pick up the piano in the 70’s. They were so excited. Really enjoyed today’s reading showing God’s care to the faithful. Have a great day all.

  8. My son, give me your heart.

“Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

“Your heart is not right in the sight of God. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

“They… first gave themselves to the Lord. In every work that [Hezekiah] began… to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.

“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.

“Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord. As bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men.

“I will run in the course of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart.” Evening, July 10, Daily Light, Bagster/Lotz

Wishing fellow saints a most blessed day.
To God be all the glory and praise!

    • Thank you Beverlee and welcome back missed you for a few days. Pray you are well and your co,d did’t get of bad. How is Heather?

  9. Thanks Scott for your link, my husband is a volunteer at Teen Challenge.
Many stories of deep despair, but so many of Victory in Jesus!!! P.T.L.

  10. 2 Chron 32:7-8 “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid nor dismayed before ________ nor before all the multitude that is with him, for there are more with us than with him, ….with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles”

I thank God for His word above as He knew my heart and what I need for tomorrow’s appointment with my oncologist, when I will get to review the cancer results of the CT scan. Thank God for strengthening me, and urging me to tap into Him who is my only true source of power, and my Hope for glory.

I also thank God for sending me to this blog, to experience the lively teachings of His word through you, Pastor David and the prayer partnering / support through all of you, my fellow bloggers. Thank you Pastor David in sharing about Norm as your dedicated prayer partner. I experienced as well the power of prayers especially since last year of my diagnosis, where God not only spoke to me personally but also sent me “angels” like in verse 21 to guard me from harm and to support me, particularly “prayer angels”…

    To Him, I’m forever grateful!

    Janet

    • My prayers go with you Janet for tomorrow and that OUR HEAVENLY Father will be present wIth you, holding you safely and tight. God bless you sister.

  11. Hi David, lt’s wonderful to have a prayer partner! There was a time when someone called me to partner with them once a week, surprisingly it was a new Christian; she was already recognizing the prayer of agreement, which is so powerful! She was desperate for a child and had waited many years, but still no baby. We prayed and l’m thrilled to say the Lord gave her two lovely boys, it was so exciting! The 100 Huntley Street Prayer Partners are such a blessing when we need a helping heart to pray with us, as we can be sure, they truly know how to touch God! Scott thanks for the link to the interview David had with Norm, it was such a blessing!

  12. Where two or three are gathered in My Name there I will be in their midst of them
and so here we are all us blogger together with our Pastor D Mainse reading and praying And Praising the Lord….And our God will hear. Thank you Scott for that story of Norm on 100 Huntlely St . God has done marvelous work through
these wonderful Godly men God bless all of you wonderful bloggers…R….

  13. Dear David M.
Thank you so much for this wonderful story of the power of prayer between you and Pastor Norman . Again the Lord shows us how he can use the most horrible circumstances in our life to elevate us to higher ground if we seek Him , trust Him and yes cry to Him.
PS. Will be adding you dear Janet for tomorrows oncologist appointment knowing that you are in the greatest hands of all our Saviour our King our perfect Lamb Jesus.
    Blessed day dear fellow saints.
    xxxx Carole.

  14. Dear Janet,
My prayer partner who was living with cancer,
received the following from a friend.
    Psalm 121:1 & 2
I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help
come from? My help comes from the Lord, the
    maker of heaven and earth.

    What Cancer Cannot Do!!!
    Cancer is so limited…..
    It cannot cripple love
    It cannot shatter hope
    It cannot corrode faith
    It cannot destroy peace
    It cannot kill friendship
    It cannot suppress memories
    It cannot silence courage
    It cannot invade the soul
    It cannot steal eternal life
    It cannot conquer the spirit

May the God of peace minister to you in
every area of your need Janet. We love
you and will be praying for you.
