OFFERING WILLINGLY

Suggested Reading: 1 Chronicles 29

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

The Dome of the Rock is a shrine located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. The structure has been refurbished many times since its initial completion in 691 AD. Many believe the Temple of the Jewish people will be rebuilt just to the left of the gold and blue structure, directly inside the Eastern Gate.

Key Verses: 1 Chronicles 29:9, 14

Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the Lord; and King David also rejoiced greatly…”But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.”

“Offered willingly” is repeated three times in our key verses, plus twice more in this chapter. There is a message here for us to do the same in our support of God’s work. The focus of this book shifts here to God Himself. Twenty times God is addressed directly. We are treated to a foretaste of the Psalms of King David. Let us worship with David by reading out loud, if possible, verses 10 to 15 (click here). We exalt You Lord! Blessed be Your Holy Name forever!

Tomorrow, God willing, we start reading the Second Book of Chronicles. Thirty-six chapters later we will move back into the New Testament book of Philippians, known as the “Epistle of Joy.” Then we move back again to the book of Ezra. Ezra is believed to have compiled the books of First and Second Chronicles. He was God’s man to build the Temple once again. The Temple of David and Solomon was destroyed by the Babylonian conqueror Nebuchadnezzar. If we take a look ahead to Ezra, we will see a similarity in style of writing, and in Ezra 6:11-28, we can learn more about the author of Chronicles who was a priest and a scribe. God is never without someone who is faithful in His service.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I pray that I will “offer willingly” my life, my family, my service, my resources, and my all! As David prayed, “All things come from You, and of Your own we have given You.” I am Yours Lord! You have given me a free will, and I willingly present myself to You for Your purposes. The Lord Jesus did this and I follow Him. In His name I pray, Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I want to invite every blog partner to read the story of the present Archbishop of Canterbury. Along with Queen Elizabeth, he leads the Church of England. It was at Holy Trinity Brompton Church in London that I had my most powerful encounter with the Holy Spirit. The new Archbishop was a member there when he entered the priesthood. Cannon Andrew White, who is quoted in the article, has been a guest on the 100 Huntley Street telecast several times. God always has someone for His purposes (click here for the story of Justin Welby, the first Jewish Archbishop of Canterbury).

Yours for “offering willingly” our lives in service to God,

David

  1. “The greatest encouragement throughout the Bible is God’s love for His lost race and the willingness of Christ, the eternal Son, to show forth that love in God’s plan of redemption. The love of Jesus is so inclusive that it knows no boundaries. At the point where we stop caring and loving, Jesus is still there loving and caring.”

Our prayers are with you today Ger, I echo Ruby’s beautiful prayer from yesterday which I believe is worthy of being repeated again today :

Dear Heavenly Father: Please be with Ger as she prepares for surgery. Give her peace and rest and guide the hands of the surgeons. And may You Lord, The Great Physician give her a quick recovery. May she feel your presence and peace and may she not be afraid. Let her have a good sleep tonight and may she rest in you. In Jesus Name I pray, AMEN

  2. We hold our dear sister-in-Christ, Ger, up to you–Lord, our Heavenly Father; Jesus Christ, our Saviour; and to the sanctity of the Holy Spirit, that lives and breathes within her. Fill Ger with your peace, Lord. Let her be still in knowing she has nothing to fear. Guide the hands of the surgeons who operate on her, Lord; to skillfully correct the problem and bring ease to Ger’s body, Lord. Allow Ger to awaken, feeling Your Holy Presence with her, Lord. May she know the saints are with her and sending their love her way. In Jesus Holy Name, we pray–amen, amen, and amen.

    • Yes!! AMEN & AMEN
Where 2 or 3 are gathered in My Name, I am there in the midst of them. All the saints are agreeing and praying today for Ger.

  3. Thank you to all saints who have graciously been praying for my friend, Heather. Praise the Lord, she has improved so much in the past two days, she is being sent home, today, and will receive the rest of her radiation treatments as an out-patient with the help of the access hospital bus service. She looked so much better, yesterday! She thanks everyone for your prayers. I read to her from Echoes of Eternity. Her heart was filled with peace because of the everlasting love of our Heavenly Father! She asked for scripture about healing and heaven that she thought was in the books of Peter.

    • Praise The Lord who is our very strength and hope!
Thank you for the update Beverlee and be assured we will continue in prayer for Heather and for you as you minister to her. Blessings sisters!

GER….upholding you in prayer as you have your surgery. Holy and Righteous God, you are our healer and watch over Ger today and in the days to come as she recovers. 8. Hi David, Thank you for sharing the article about the present Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. l was so excited to see how God works! It is an amazing story, and shows that Justin is well qualified for the position. l was also not surprised that his Jewish heritage was hidden from him, as l had the same experience, finding out that my grandfather was Jewish, when l was in my twenties. Let’s remember was a Jew, and we are all saved through his finished work on the cross! l am continuing to pray for you Ger, may you experience a speedy miraculous recovery!

  11. As I listen to the audio version in today’s reading I can feel the love, devotion,
excitement and dedication of those who fallowed the Lord God. I try to imajine
the temple in it’s spendar, adorned with all of the many precious stones and hand worked materials available in that day. At that time know one would have ever imajined that one day a king would order the temple to be completely obliderated. In retrospect we now know it was all just part of the plan. Gods all knowing all seeing plan. And yet mirraculously through it all we are given choices. That effect our lives but that seem to have no effect on the overall out come. There is peace in that synario. For no matter what unfolds around us in today’s ever changing fast pace world I know God is in control. I love what pastor John Hagee said in his cermon entitled The Coming Four Good Moons. He said “Read the end of the book “(meaning blble) ” WE WIN! ”
Love and peace and may God bless
    🙂
