Key Verse: John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Could we take the time now or later to read, along with John 1, Colossians 1 and Hebrews 1? This will let us know, once and for all, who Jesus of Nazareth is. If we have decided to believe those who knew Jesus best, like John, or those who were educated and elite Jewish scholars, like Paul and the writer to the Hebrews, we are NOT left with the option of believing Jesus is ONLY a prophet or ONLY a great teacher. He is all of these and MUCH MORE. Intellectual honesty demands that we confess that God communicated His message to the human race in one “Word,” One Word who “dwelt among us,” One who showed His glory to many of His contemporaries, “The glory as of the only begotten [not created] of the Father.” We’ve just completed reading Leviticus, Moses’ revelation of God, and now it would be helpful to read again John 1:17-18. The transition from Moses to Jesus is clear. This was so evident in the first century that thousands of Jews believed it, including many of the Jewish leaders and priests who were truly open to the “Word” of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, You are, in Your Person, the fullness of the communication of the Great “I Am” to the human family. Bless me Lord, I pray, to be able to communicate to others the fact that You, Jesus, are 100% God, as well as 100% Human. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

My eldest son, David Reynold Mainse, as just a boy, said to me one night as we gazed at the stars, “God did that.” We marvelled at His creation. I can’t remember my exact response, but I know that I tried to never miss an opportunity to point out that this great Creator was born in Bethlehem as one of us. The Angels in the night sky sang to the shepherds of God’s Glory and instructed them to find this Child. The shepherds did so and worshipped Him. Just now, I’m overwhelmed with the need to worship Him. Norma-Jean would always sing to our grandchildren (and now great-grandchildren) at night, “All hail King Jesus, all hail Emmanuel, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, bright Morning Star.” This has always been her “tucking in ritual.” In case you don’t know this song of worship, I’ll ask our son, Ronald Wesley Mainse, to try to find it on the Internet so you can join in the rapture of worshipping Jesus, King of the universe. [Found it…here]

Yours to help us to be among those who receive Him, and thus have the right to become children of God through believing in His Name (John 1:12),

David

  1. I’m always in awe of the first chapter of John’s gospel. Perhaps it’s the literary quality of the first several verses, but I think more than that, it’s because of it’s enormous depth of imagery. Just imagine, Jesus being the expressed ‘word’ of God, was God in the very beginning, yet He was revealed to us in a fleshly way as He became Man and yet still fully God! It’s so incredible, yet true! We have a God that can identify with us, our trials, our pains, our longings, our joys, our triumphs, because He lived with us, became one of us and could identify with us. Yet he had this awesome power to love the disenfranchised of society, the ability to forgive sin, to heal, to show us a new and better way! He really was the light than shined in the darkness and the darkness could not understand it (and is still that way to this day).

  2. So profound and meaningful, were the readings today. Thank you for providing the link to the song Norma-Jean would sing, it is one of my favourites.

  3. I agree with David and my prayer is the same as yours David. I love the song
I sang along with you isn’t God is wonderful.
I am keeping you in my prayers
    God bless you.

  4. Again. 100words.ca did not come to my mobile or my p.c. on time today. It is 9:15 a.m. and not here. I did find, however, that I could go to 100words.ca website and it IS THERE. So grateful for that. So very grateful.

    • Hi Doreen…it doesn’t always come in to my pc either. Today was one of those days. I now leave the day before blog in my inbox and when the blog doesn’t arrive, I just click on that one again, and in doing so it automatically brings up the correct date blog. This should work for you too.

  5. Hello David…I am enjoying how you have begun to add links to other scripture verses that reinforce what your day’s blog is about. Thank you. And again thanks to Reynold for the beautiful photo’s.
I do have a question: I notice all the scripture you post are from New King James version. What is your thoughts on the New Living Translation version. I started out with the Old King James, and over the years have used the NKJ, NIV, The Message, and the NLT.
    Have a wonderful day!

    • Thank you Jesus for giving David supernatural strength to give us all our daily manna in the word. Like David and Norma-Jean I pray that every son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter get to know that Jesus is in the midst of their pain and suffering. Please make a point each and everyone to get the 100 Huntley Street book *Why they die* Curing the death wish in our kids.

  6. I am concerned I have been unsubcribed as no good news came through my email today from you I am so blessed by this blog. It is my church, my main contact with others of faith and my devotional. Please pray for me and my family. Thank you for being there for me. It means everything.

  7. David and Norma Jean; how blessed your children, grands and great Grands have been to grow up with the WORD My dad would bounce me on his knee and sing to me but, they weren’t Christian songs! I grew up in the Catholic Church so I don’t feel like it’s necessary to explain a whole lot about that as I think everyone here is clued in on that subject. The only instruction I remember was based not on scripture but church ( man made ) Tradition. I have since moved on. ( thank GOD ) There is a young woman who works at my local Christian Book store that confided in me that when they were growing up, they were not allowed to listen to secular music at home. If they were caught, they were punished! I find that astounding in today’s world! She is only in her mid-20s. What a job those parents must have had! In any case; thank you, Mr. Mainse, for sharing these stories as I feel everyone enjoys them very much! Take care. In JESUS name, Amen.

  9. I thank GOD, THE WORD, THE LIVING WORD, reigns in our hearts through out eternity! Praise you precious LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!, praise you precious LORD JESUS CHRIST. Praise you precious HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD! LORD OF LORDS!, KING OF KINGS!, BRIGHT MORNING STAR!, LORD shine brightly in our hearts every day that we may always be a bright shining light in the darkness of this world.

  10. Hello David,
Your daily blogs are so meaningful. Although I have my Bible handy, it’s great to be able to click and get to the verse right away online! I especially enjoy how personal you are, not like a learned robot that emits rehearsed speeches (pardon my saying this).
Your blogs are helping me to seek more of God in my life and to understand His great love for me just the way that I am, spots & wrinkles(yet!) and all! Isn’t it amazing that God should loves us so much? You’re right, it’s too wondrous to understand! I’ll include you in my prayers. Thank you again for your dedication to this blog, it’s really making a difference in my life. And the pictures are insightful too!

  11. Dear David: I have played over and over All Hail King Jesus. Thank you so much for making it accessible for me to hear. I have looked in all my hymn books and cannot find it. I would like so much to find it so I could play it. Do you think it is possible for you to ask Ron if he has the music and could e mail it to me? I hope this isn’t too much to ask. I enjoy your blogs so much and pray that you will be made strong and healthy again.

    Many Thanks!

  12. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

    My absolute favourite scripture.
One of the first that I memorized.
When I first was saved I could not stop reading the Bible.

My bible states that He tabernacled (dwelt among us).
The fullness of the word of God blows my mind.
I stand in awe of the Living Word
Heaven and Earth will pass away but the Word of God will not.
When things in my life get choatic and the enemy is pressing in on all sides
I stand on the Word of God like I am doing tonight.

I believe it states that one day we can say
That we overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

I do not believe that anyone would believe the spiritual battle that I have been in.
    But
I am standing on the Word of God!
    It is all I have.

One scripture the Lord gave me recently is Ps: 73 vs 26
My flesh and my heart may fail
But God is the strength of my heart and portion forever.

    Looking forward to Heaven

    Mellany

  13. Hello David!
Thank you so much for this blog,I was looking for something like a forum where people read bible together, but was not able to find any. Then heard about this on TV. Though i still struggle with reading the bible every day, but this is my desire to develop this habit. It’s great to see more people joining this blog.
