JESUS PROMISED

Suggested Reading: Matthew 26

Looking from the South end of the old city of Jerusalem you can see the Mount of Olives to the East.

Key Verse: Matthew 26:32

“But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.”

It’s difficult to choose a key verse as this chapter is filled with crucial truth for all people. The death and resurrection of Christ is the focal point of all history. It is His story! Once again Jesus states the fact of His death and resurrection and once again His disciples failed to comprehend. This time they were too sleepy to take in truth. Are you wide awake? Are you ready to understand? Understand that when Jesus gives a promise, its fulfillment is absolutely sure! It is impossible for Him to lie! He knew He must die and He also knew He must rise again. This was the reason He came. He also knew the humanity of His followers. They would remember His instructions about meeting Him in Galilee after the resurrection, and they would obey Him.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, as I read Your Words, grant the grace to make those Words an integral element in my spiritual DNA. Please grant me full comphrehension and obedience. I pray this with sincerety and faith that You will do this in me for Your Glory and for the fulfillment of Your plan for my life. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I have been reading your responses to 100 words.ca. Thank you for letting me know that you are there with me daily. I turn 76 on August 13th, and as an old-timer I was not sure anyone would bother reading my blog. I don’t really understand the new social media. Come to think of it, I didn’t understand television back on June 2nd, 1962 either. I do know, however, that God gave me the grace of obedience then and He’s doing so now. If you are blessed and encouraged, or of this blog helps you in the daily discipline of reading the entire Bible in meal-sized portions over two years, then God’s purpose is being fulfilled. Amen! and Amen!

Continuing in obedience,

David

    • I appreciate the tremendous dedication this daily blog requires. It is helping me to stay on track with daily Bible reading.. I am enjoying Reynold’s pictures of the Holy Land; I have chosen to finish my day with the blog as my house is quiet then. Keep up the good work!!

  2. Dear David;
You are an extraordinary man of God.You always walked by faith.I’ve been a viewer for 23 years and read some of your book such as The Promises,1oo Huntley Street.
I’ve been bless by your determination and believing God’s promises for the ministry.
Now you have your son Ron and Ann continuing the 100 Huntley Street with Moira-special lady with the gentle touch like a cherry on a sundae and of course devoted Jim.He is quite o man of God,and a great grand father to her daugther,s children..
Continue your devotional and i’ll be looking forward to read your comment and what reveals to you. I need this every day.Be bless in Jesus name,

    • I often believe that I have been such a dioippsantment. But, know that when God sees me he sees Jesus. But, here is what I often think about. If God sees Jesus who died for all of our sins, what does Jesus see when he looks down on earth. I try so very hard to be a good person and when I try really hard, I fail. But, when I run to Jesus to say I am sorry, he holds out his arms takes me into a tight hug and tells me it is okay. Go try again but, let me help you. Each day is better than the day before.

  3. Thank-you David for your faithfulness.
I look forward every morning to your devotional, love the personal notes.
My mother watches the program every morning she will be 89 in July.

  6. We’re not only with you each day David, we’re praying for you! You mentioned “as an old-timer I was not sure anyone would bother reading my blog” and I can assure you that God’s plan for you at this time is a blessing to many. Thank-you for being faithful in bringing us ‘100words.ca’! It’s a blessing to me each morning as I begin my day. As God speaks to my heart through your blog, my knowledge and spirit grows. As a result of your blog, I am blessing my wife and my young child as they read my thoughts on the things of the Lord.

Because we know Jesus, not just intellectually, but spiritually, we grow and become more obedient to His word. God is good … He will supply our needs when the going gets tough, provided we have a relationship with Him and are humble and teachable. The problem today is that we want our way, we demand ‘things’ instantly, ‘things’ that God doesn’t necessarily want for us. We’re so rushed in our daily life that we don’t make time to be obedient and to hear His voice amidst the confusion. Get clarity!! Take time to listen to God, read His word, pray and make time to be with His people. Most of all …. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

  7. I thoroughly enjoy and am inspired every morning reading your blog, David! I am a 35 year old with two little ones and I love my mornings, first in the Word and then reading your blog!! ….and today it was uninterupted!! wahoo! Thank you to your obedience!

  8. As i read your blog early every morning, my spirit is lifted to higher hieghts. Your spiritual insight to the scripture reading is up lifting along with visual application and your practical application reminds us that God is still working in lives today.

  9. Your Blog has been a daily souce of inspiration to me. At certain times through the day, I reflect (quite automatically) on what you have shared and the scripture reading for that day. Sometimes I want to respond in writing down my thoughts in a reply, at other times, it’s just about sitting and relecting in thought and prayer. Either way, thank you David! Your message is imperative and relative to life.

  10. I too am encouraged to read scripture on a daily basis because of your blog, David.

    Thank you God bless.

  11. Hi David, You are now my internet pastor, thank you for being willing to get up so early to do your blog, it’s amazing, and I know that I am not the only one who thinks that, Your picture is on my fridge, and it reminds me to pray for you.
    Love you lots Christine

    • David, like that one person wrote you are my internet pastor, Thanks for doing this and getting me to read my bible and spending time in the word everyday. I have a hard time forming habits and this is a good habit. You & Norma Jean are in my thoughts and prayers that God may continue to Bless you Both.

  12. Thank-you for 100 Words, I am most of all enjoying reading my Bible, I think this is a great thing that you are doing David. When I sit down in the morning with my coffee and do my devotions then I log on and read 100 Words. I think it is vital that we start the day with God and if we are going to have a busy day then we should get up earlier. I am enjoying reading Matthew sometimes I get distracted when reading a parable from Jesus so I read it over, I love reading my Bible I am 51 years old and living alone in Little Burnt Bay, NL. I gave my heart to the Lord in 2009 when I think about what I have gone through and how I have gotten through, it’s amazing but, I know that I had help from my Lord. There have been days when I could only handle 1 hour at a time never mind a day, but I would Pray for God to carry me and he did. I started watching 100 Huntley Street, and my Mom who lives in ON has been encouraging me and has told me all about the family of 100 Huntley Street, I may not be rich in material things but I am richer than I have ever been, and getting richer everyday. Your message is very important, people need to hear and be encouraged that Jesus is all they need. I pray that God will give you the strength that you need to keep spreading the Word.

“For those who put their trust in God”
    Amen

  13. David
Thank you for your blog and all that you do. You are helping me grow and learn through the Holy Spirit. I love to see what you have to say and your personal thoughts
as well. Even though you said that you are and old timer I think you you are young at heart. Keep up the good work and may God bless you and your family always .
    Lianne Hogg

  14. Thank you for your daily blog in small portions. I look forward to to slowing down my busy day & reading it. I also love the photos of the Holy Land. Keep up the good work. I’ve been watching 100 Huntley St. for years. What a great team you have!

  15. Hi David… Age is just a number…we get older but not old… im so blessed to have 17 extra years..because of your obedience to the Holy Spirit ( Yahoo )
I Love your blog and your personal words….and the pictures are beautiful ..like being on a Journey to the Holy Land… Thank you so much for just being there.. Praying for you daily and we Know ( His will…Will be Done ) as we follow ….You are Loved… Diane McCooeye.. WOTL ….

  16. from one ‘old timer to another’…it matter’s not the age we are David, it is how we make them count by being a candle in the darkness and you dear sir are a very bright, steady and reliable candle. You brings freshness every day to Scripture many of us have read many times over, and shine a light to those just starting on this path.
The scripture Scott quoted from Proverbs 3:5,6 takes me back to a praying stepgrandmother, who would quote this very verse to me often. I believe her faithful prayers & gentle reminders are why I am where I am today…walking with the Lord. Unfortunately she never lived long enough to see the answer to her faithfulness….it took me many years to ‘hear’ her wisdom.
I also agree with others above, that there are more followers of your 100 Words then you know. I never miss a morning, but don’t always comment and I am sure there are many who do not comment either, but you can be sure your words are not in vain, and are bringing comfort, hope, encouragement and many blessings to many needy, hurting, discouraged hearts.
Bless you David for your faithfulness and obedience to the Spirits leading!

  17. Thanks for being such a humble man. I especially like that as many in ministry seem to give themselves more credit then our Lord. The pictures are a wonder to behold as i know i will never travel to the Holy Land

  18. Around 1997, 8 or 9 while my daughter and I were eating at a Big Stop restaurant my daughter who was an 18 year old going to ABU Bible College caught sight of you sitting at a table not very far away. You came over and chatted with us all for a bit which blessed us very much. Christine, my daughter, saw in you integrity and love. We have followed 100 Huntley Street since my coming to Jesus years before. Saying all this to tell you your “walk” as well as your entire family/tv family have blessed, encouraged and impacted us in our faith. So thankful to God for your ministry. Blessing be upon you David in every area! Thank you for your faithfulness.

  19. I look forward to the blog every morning David to start my day right, in the Word, thanks for doing this. I am blessed by it daily and the pictures are beautiful. God keep you and Norma Jean strong for many more years to come. Thanks again.

  20. I’ve made 100 words part of my daily devotional. Thank you David for being an obedient, devoted servant in Christ. I pray that God would turn His people’s hearts to Him so that we as His body would all be truly devoted to him.

    Joanne

  23. Thank you David for your faithfulness. Thank you for your wisdom. I’ve been watching Huntley St. since the 80’s and it has had such a big influence on my life. God bless you for doing this blog. I look forward to it every morning. I am very grateful to you and all the wonderful people connected to your ministry. God has used you mightily and you’ve all been such a great blessing in my life. You are a bright light in a dark world.

  24. David,

This has been a great blessing to follow along with you over the past couple of weeks, continuing on for the months to come. I am 21 years old, and it has been a blessing to be reading the bible on a consistent basis.

  25. Hi David: I just wanted to give you the encouragement of one more person reading your 100 words, plus the Chapter you suggest! Not only am I reading my bible daily, but I truly believe many others are also. It is so important for us to spend time in God’s word everyday, to find his truth for the day, and now you are giving people the gentle reminder and encouragement to do that. Also to find God and/or get to know God.
Thankyou for your continued service to Jesus Christ and his people and your obedience to God all these years and still going strong. God Bless you David, your family and Crossroads Ministry

  26. There is only ONE source, but God works in mysterious ways and performs wonders through an infinite number of channels. Through our feeling of gratitude and praise for the Master, we put ourselves in alignment with the riches of the universe. Thank you for sharing the BLOG which the Lord our God has selected for our good each day, David, thereby releasing a dynamic current of spiritual energy to go before us to exert a mighty influence in our world.

  27. Thank you David for always being humble and faithful. We old timers don’t know how to blog and aren’t used to responding by internet but we do take the time to read your daily blog and look forward to it each day. Please continue regardless of the responses as you feel able. We will continue to travel and grow with you as God gives strength to us all. Continued blessings on you, Norma Jean and the whole Mainse and Crossroads family. You are appreciated, honored and loved.

  28. Dear David, I wish to thank you for your 100 words blog. I want to let you know that I am here and that I cherish reading your words of wisdom given to you by God. I am encouraged by your words. Thank you.

  29. Thank you for this days blog, David. It is so true, without OBEDIENCE to His Word, we have anarchy. Thank God for your obedience—

  30. David, I am so grateful for your comment on compassion for those who do not uphold God’s teaching on marriage between a man and a woman. In the past year I have struggled with this issue with someone close to me. Praying for God’s compassion for them has been my only source of comfort – and for my compassion toward them as well! Thank you for your honesty and clarity in showing us Abraham’s example.
