RETURNING GOD’S CALLS

Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 5-6

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

Here is part of an ancient road that is located in the Old City of Jerusalem. An artist depicts what the rest of it might have looked like from the time of Jesus. How tragic that such a beautiful city should be reduced to rubble with its people either killed or taken as slaves.

Key Verses: Jeremiah 6:10

To whom shall I speak and give warning,

That they may hear?

Indeed their ear is uncircumcised,

And they cannot give heed.

Behold, the word of the Lord is a reproach to them;

They have no delight in it.

Jeremiah 5:21-25 is God’s attempt to communicate with His people in Jerusalem. He says, “Hear this now!” We bring disaster upon ourselves when we fail to listen to God’s Word! It’s not His fault! It’s ours! Jeremiah and a few others heard God, but the political leadership and the majority would not listen.

In our key verse in Jeremiah 6, God seems to be giving up after many attempts to communicate. The time comes when God resigns Himself to allowing the stubborn free will of people to prevail. He’s not wanted, and He won’t force Himself on them, which would reduce His people, made in His image, to being puppets and robots who are forced to do His will. God knows when He is not wanted and He withdraws. The communications breakdown is never at God’s end of the line. People hang up on Him!!!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, You promised that You would answer when I call You! You said, and I quote You, “Call to Me and I will answer you!!!” (Jeremiah 33:3). I’ve heard that reference called, “God’s telephone number.” I pray that You will keep me alert to hear You and to answer when You call me! I hear You calling me now and I hear Your voice as I read Your Word to me through Jeremiah. I say, “Yes Lord, I hear You!!!” Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

For the first 15 years of Crossroads television, the Lord sent in enough money to pay all our bills to cover the costs of the 30-minute weekly Crossroads show and the 30-minute Circle Square show for children. Never did I mention money on TV. When we signed the contract for release of the daily 100 Huntley Street telecast, I was shocked to hear what I believe was the voice of God saying to me, “David, you are going to have to ask for people’s support on TV. I don’t have enough people who take the time to hear My voice to raise the necessary funds for this expansion.” I was dumfounded, but said “Yes, Lord.” One way or the other, God made sure that bills were paid and that His Name was honoured by that fact. But that’s a very small thing compared to the failure to listen to God on the part of the people of Jerusalem, who were not only failing to pay attention to God, but who had deliberately disobeyed Him after they had heard His words through Jeremiah!

Yours for listening quietly, carefully and obediently to God’s Word!!!

David

Below is a picture of the big rock in front of the Crossroads Centre. The words on the plaque (see caption) are from Jeremiah 6:16, the New International Version translation. Instead of the word “ways” inferring a crossroads as in the NKJV, it actually uses the word “crossroads” in the NIV. This is an essential message from God to each one of us.

The plaque below the big rock outside the Crossroads Centre in Burlington reads, “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls” (Jeremiah 6:16).

  1. Yes, Lord, we hear You! This morning, Your voice spoke to me: Be still, my child, be still. Forever I will blanket you in the depths of My love. For I am pure love and it flows through Me to you. Receive it and feel blessed. For I see the work you do. Lift up dear heart, for you are redeemed by My eternal love. Wishing fellow saints a blessed day in the Lord. Stay safe and warm.

    “…that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being…” Ephesians 3:16 ESV

  2. Praying for the leadership to continue to carry on with David’s Godly planting of “sending forth the Word”. 100 Huntley Street has been a wonderful ministry over the years. Father God, please continue to guide, provide, bless, & protect, all who work or support the work in any way. Amen

  3. It was so interesting to see the interview of Greg Musselman on CBN, Lethbridge yesterday about Rev. Lawan Andimi, 58, who went missing from a town in northeast Nigeria on Jan. 2., after a raid by Boko Haram. Greg is a Minister at Large with The Voice of the Martyrs Canada. Greg asks that we pray for the areas of Africa that are being targeted by this misguided group.

    Praying all Christian programming, especially 100 Huntley St., will always receive the funding needed to spread God’s Word on tv, computers or wherever required in Jesus name.
    Have a great weekend saints!

    • Just watched the video by Greg on The Voice of the Martyrs, Canada, facebook:

      So sad for the family of Pastor Lawan Andimi, knowing he was executed. May they hold onto his words: “Don’t cry, don’t worry, but thank God for everything.” Praying for their strength and comfort at this time. Praise God he is with Jesus in heaven.

      Thanks for posting Lynda and for your kind message.

      • That is very disturbing.We don’t realize how we are still blessed to be insulated from that kind of world only because the US and Canada we founded and the government (and laws) were based on Christian values.The denominations all got along,other than verbal disagreements.It’s a different story with other ‘faiths’ that are fooled and controlled by Satan.
        I join you in heightened prayer for this brave Christian martyr’s family…and community.May God bless them,they are the front line.
        …..I just got off the phone with our other deacon-ess.She’s a bit long winded but a very spiritual lady in her late 80’s.Then she phoned back again before I could post this,lol.Yall have a great day and may God bless

      • Thank u 4 posting the link Beverlee. I don’t go onto Facebook very often unless I have to do research 4 my reporting. God bless u. 🙏

    • God bless you Lynda, yes prayers are needed for every country; we rebuke the devil where ever he is lurking in Africa and we plead the Blood of the Lamb over this precious country; over Greg Musselman on CBN and over Rev. Lawan Andimi and the Voive of the Martyrs Canada and 100 Huntley Street;
      Lord You know the country of Africa and its peoples, we pray Lord You would send the Holy Spirit to enter the hearts of the people and that they may turn to You for all their help and living and working in their lives, Thank you Lord for always hearing our prayers; Thank you Lord for blessing 100 Huntley Street and all those on this prayer site,IN Jesus name we Pray amen amen amen

  4. Thank you Beverlee, Eleanor M. and Luisa for praying for the families of the young man, a distant relative whose funeral I attended yesterday. It was very sad and so well supported by the communities around and churches. We need to pray for the young people in our family every day, at least generally if there are too many to name which is my case. Lord, we pray for mercy as Jeremiah did in his day. Feeling the need to be more involved in people’s lives out there. Sorry you lost your lifetime friend Marilyn and may the Lord give you peace. God bless each of you. I don’t get back to you on the same day but always go back and read your posts the next day.

  5. I felt I should re post this comment from 2013:

    Dear David This is the second day I have read your blog. I have watched Huntley street for 2 years. What has totally drawn me to it, has been your compassion for the world around you and how heart broken some of the decisions of our government have left you. I believe you are blessed in full measure with the heart of God. You are in my prayers , you have helped me see the love of God in action. God bless you with health & peace that passes all understanding.Kathy ”

    (Still praying for Ann.)

  6. The scripture this day reveals God’s heart for His children who have gone their own way, Lord I pray for those here in this Nation of Canada; for the families, the fathers, mothers, teens, and adults, and leaders to return to the Lord; Lord I pray that Canada would return to their God. I pray that Canada once again would be a nation under God’s guidance. Jesus I pray this in Your Mighty Name Amen

    Have a blessed day saints

    • Amen!

      Father God, it’s so easy for us to blame others for the problems around us. Please forgive us for our sins: greed, covetousness, negligence, laziness, self-indulgence…… We do pray for this country – please stop our slide into deception and idiocy, where political correctness paralyzes people into pretending they don’t know what a family is, what marriage is, what a boy is, what a girl is… Lord God, You are not the author of confusion, and we ask that You raise up Your godly people in Canada. Give us strength, boldness, courage, wisdom and compassion to stand up for You. We also pray for the native people in Canada, that You will send Your Word and Your workers to heal their maladies. In Jesus’s great name, amen

  7. The Lord cares for EVERY ASPECT OF OUR LIVES!
    lost my reading glasses in a purple case on Thursday evening……..
    Friday afternoon phoned the last 3 to back track to find glasses, they were no where to be found;
    30 minutes after I called one of the places called me to tell me someone had turned in some glasses in a purple case which were lying on the ground, in the parking for the whole night before!!! I was crying with thanksgiving because only the Lord would keep them safe, no one drove over them, Thank You Lord for caring about EVERY ASPECT OF OUR LIVES!!!!!

    Bless the person who turned them into the store…..yes, Lord bless this person for doing the right thing…..
    In Jesus Name I pray amen amen amen
