The impressive, beautifully preserved Greco-Roman ruins of ancient Jerash, located 80 miles north of Amman, Jordan. This is one of the ten cities of “The Decapolis.” According to Mark 5:20, Jesus was proclaimed here by the man who was delivered from many demons.

Key Verse: 1 Samuel 25:32-33

Then David said to Abigail: “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! And blessed is your advice and blessed are you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand.”

To understand this brief commentary we must have read the Scripture reading for today, asking the Lord to turn on the light of understanding for us.
Nabal was wrong in refusing to help David, but David was also wrong in his decision to take revenge against Nabal. Sometimes, in anger and frustration, we make decisions we would never consider in calmer moments. Hasty decisions can be dangerous, and when they are accompanied by rash, irresponsible actions, they can cause irreparable harm. Finally, as David listened to Abigail, he realized that God was speaking to him through her. God speaks to us in a variety of ways. It could be that He will use our Pastor, a friend, or even a stranger to communicate with us. He may speak through His Word, which we are reading each day, or through a television ministry such as 100 Huntley Street. Sometimes He guides us through circumstances, and we are not even aware that He’s going before us, showing us the way.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I need Your guidance constantly. Help me to watch for Your leading in the happenings of my life every day. Help me to listen carefully to Your still small voice within. You said, Lord Jesus, “My sheep hear My voice and I know them, and they will follow Me” (John 10:27). I pray that I will spend sufficient time in reading Your Word and in prayer so I am conscious of the fact that I am in Your presence. I pray this through the Cross of the Lord Jesus. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

My wife has a life verse from the Bible. It’s Proverbs 3:5 & 6, which tells her, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Over our almost 59 years of marriage, she has quoted that to me hundreds of times. She even wrote a song about it, “He Shall Direct Thy Paths,” which was published by The Gospel Publishing House in Springfield, Missouri. I got the message! I’ve heard solos, trios, and at least one choir sing her song. Even before we were married, Norma-Jean and I agreed together to claim this promise as from God. On her first letter to me, the following Scripture was printed across the top of the page by the printer who had created the stationery: “Rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). I got the message from God. I knew that Norma-Jean was God’s choice of a wife for me!

Yours for reading and following the directions, God’s Directions,

David

P.S. Here is another 100 Huntley Street “Flashback” segment by my son Ron, which he recorded a while back, leading up to program 10,000. The interview guest was someone who used to be like David in today’s reading…a quick-tempered warrior (click HERE).

  1. Thank You, Lord God, for all the mighty warriors who have followed and served You through the ages. Bless and guide all Your followers today, and train each one in the art of warfare, to fight for You, in Jesus’s great name, amen

  2. I would like to ask for prayer. I have a little great grandson, born in September 2021. He was born with serious health issues. The doctors had told the family when the baby was born that he would only live a few weeks. He has had wonderful care in the Ottawa Children’s Hospital and with nurses that have fostered him. A few weeks ago he went into ICU with pneumonia and has been on a respirator. He has recovered from the pneumonia and doctors have recommended that he come off the respirator. My son and the baby’s grandmother are flying down today to Ottawa from Nunavut. They have been told the baby could go either way once he is off the respirator. My grandson, the baby’s father just turned 19 a couple of days ago. He has been staying with me for the last three weeks since he learned of the condition of the baby. He is on medication for seizures and has almost had a seizure quite a few times since he came to be with me. The family here in Nunavut have only seen the baby briefly a year ago when he was well enough to be brought up here for a few days. Thank you so much for prayers for us through this time. My grandson’s name is Nathan and he is not together with the baby’s mother, her name is Rhoda. My son is Nathaniel and Nathan’s mom is Tai. Tai struggles with an alcohol addiction. Thank you so much for reading all this and for your prayers. The beautiful baby’s name is David Nathan.

    • Oh Wendy, what a story, humanly speaking it sounds so sad and helpless.
But our Heavenly Father knows and loves each one of you, and He surely loves and has never left little David Nathan’s side.
May our Heavenly Father bring good out of all your family’s pain and struggle.
Wendy, I pray especially for you as the mom and grandmother and great- grandmother that you may have the strength and insight and peace to be an example of the love of Jesus to your entire family.
      May God’s will be done.

May God Bless you and your family.

    • We pray to You, our Heavenly Father, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and to the sanctity of the Holy Spirit, for Your Hands to be upon baby David Nathan and Your will to be done in his life. We pray You bring comfort and strength to Wendy and the entire family, that they lean on You, Lord. You are the ultimate Healer, the Alpha and the Omega, our Rock and our Redeemer. It is to You that we humbly pray, in Jesus mighty Name. Amen, amen and amen.

  3. Father God, we come to You in Jesus Name, asking for miracles of healing and salvation for this child and for the family. You know them Lord, and the trials they are facing, and NOTHING is impossible for You. We ask for Your Perfect Will in the lives of this family. We ask that You take over and direct the medical professionals to bring Your Healing Touch. You are our Healer. Amen & amen.

    • Wendy: I am bringing little David Nathan before the throne of Grace.
Lord Jesus, you already know what this little one has gone through. You also know what the families of this child are going through right now. I pray that you would speak into each of their hearts and draw them to yourself.
You are in control of the situation and whatever you have planned for this baby will happen according to you will. I also pray that you would give peace and comfort to the families . I pray this in your precious name, Jesus who loves all children Amen.🙏

  4. Amen to all the prayers for David Nathan
God i know You are there with him and his family. May they feel Your love and come to you now in their time of need. I stand before You in the name of Jesus and in agreement with all the prayers

  5. Thank you everyone for your prayers, they have touched my heart so much. My son and Tai will be arriving in Ottawa about now at 8:45 p.m. I will be sure to post our news in the days to come.
