ALL OUR DAYS!

Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 52

In today’s reading, pots, bowls and utensils are mentioned. Reynold, who is still in Africa, sent this picture on the internet of vessels excavated in Corinth, Greece. It’s just possible that the pottery of Babylon might have looked like these. It’s a stretch for my imagination to connect these to Babylon, but history tells us that the Greeks were going to defeat Babylon, Persia and all the lands of the Middle East within about 200 years after the time of Jeremiah 52.

Key Verses: Jeremiah 52:33

So Jehoiachin changed from his prison garments, and he ate bread regularly before the king all the days of his life.

Jehoiachin was made King of Judah when he was just 18 (read 2 Kings 24:6-15). Eight years later he was taken captive to Babylon in the first defeat of Judah. Zedekiah was ordered to serve as a vassal king under Nebuchadnezzar. Zedekiah’s rebellion caused the Babylonians to destroy the Temple, the walls, and the homes of Jerusalem, murdering Zedekiah’s sons in front of him and then blinding him and taking him in chains to Babylon where he was executed.

Meanwhile, Judah’s former King, Jehoiachin, languished in prison in Babylon for 37 years. When Nebuchadnezzar’s son ascended to the throne, he released Jehoiachin, brought him into the Palace, and cared for him for the rest of his life. I expect there will be more about Babylon in Lamentations, Ezekiel and Daniel, but beginning tomorrow, God willing, we’ll move over to First Peter for our meditations. What Jehoiachin experienced is something like Jesus does for us. He brings us out of the prison house of sin, forgives us, and makes us clean before God. He put a robe of righteousness on us, and we are seated in heavenly places with Him. Hallelujah!!! (read Isaiah 61:10 & Ephesians 2:4-9).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I am the recipient of much greater mercy from You than Jehoiachin received. His freedom and provision was temporal, but what You’ve done for me is eternal! I pray for more and more opportunities to come my way to tell everyone that there is freedom, peace, blessing and honour in the Salvation which is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, in whose Name I pray. Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

(Originally written by David on February 19, 2016)

I mentioned in a previous blog that, according to the doctor’s prediction in 2012, my journey into the “great beyond” was scheduled to take place at the latest in March 2014. Back at the first of January 2014 he said that my health was “jaw-dropping remarkable.” Thanks for your prayers!!! God’s timing is O.K. with me whenever it’s time to step out of this life into the next one. If it’s today, it would appear I’ll be feeling well for the trip home to Heaven! My children have reminded me over the past months that I’ve said to them, “We who serve the Lord are indestructible until God is finished with us!” Any time Lord!

Yours for trusting God with His perfect timing in all things,

David

P.S. The motorcycle pictured below was a bank repossession with a dented front fender that I bought very cheaply in February 2014. I considered this a statement of victory over the prediction of my soon demise. It was a way of thumbing my nose at “the last enemy.” I sold my former bike in 2006, after we had completed the “Steel Horse Ride,” a trip across Canada where we raised funds to equip our Circle Square Ranches for children with physical limitations. I bought my very first motorcycle with money I had earned when I was just 14. In the photo I have on my “Duck Dynasty” T-shirt that says, “Happy, Happy, Happy!”

  1. What a wonderful picture of David sitting on his beloved motorcycle, wearing his T-shirt saying…..Happy Happy Happy.
This just lifts my spirits as I find the book of Jeremiah rather heavy reading, yet I know that there are lessons to be learned.

Oh Lord I pray that we will learn your lessons, that we wouldn’t be stubborn and obtuse. Help us Lord to seek You and Your wisdom for our lives.
Bless our country Lord, may Your will be done, we trust in You!
    Amen.

  2. Reading and studying Jeremiah is certainly difficult, especially when our country and other parts of the world (Russia/Ukraine), are in such turmoil. God is in control, He is Love, and He never changes. Blessed be the LORD, and May His Will be done. Amen

  3. I’ve been wanting to thank you Charlene for the prayers for Canada that you have been posting. It is very helpful to join with others in righteous prayer. Rob, your prayers always help me too, to pray in agreement. I’ve been reading verses about peace this morning . . . “My peace I give unto you” . . . “Thou will keep in perfect peace” . . . “the peace of God which passeth all understanding” . . . (John 14:27,
Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 4:6-7) Father God we Your people cry out for peace in our land, for those that know You to enter into Your Peace, and for us to be a light to those that don’t know You yet. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  4. I never noticed before but that bike is the same as mine except for the colour,a Suzuki Boulevard.Jeremiah is very interesting and shows some of the difficulties a ruler can face when opposed to God.Is our current leader ‘opposed to God’?
It makes me wonder if the turmoil in Ukraine could be averted or resolved if God were openly invited to intervene…I wish they would try that.May God bless

    • Yes Lord!
I’m agreement with the thoughts and prayers of those who posted!
May Peace, Love and Joy abound; may the leaders of all countries be given ☝️God-inspired Wisdom, in Jesus🙏🏽

  5. I remember looking out of my kitchen window in Bonnyshores (a snowbird community in Lakeland, FL) to my surprise to seeing David coming pass our house on his motorbike it was such a wonderful time to see him riding his motorbike, he had spoken about it previously buying one, it brought such joy to him, he was Happy, Happy, Happy!!

  6. For the 19th day from the “Prayer Map of Canada”
    1. Pray that the Holy Spirit will influence our governmental leaders as they make vital decisions that shape Canadian society. (1 Timothy 2: 1-2)
    2. Pray for Prince Edward Island.
Pray for the leaders of the province, that God’s Spirit would influence them to act justly, serve with integrity and honour high moral standards. (1 Timothy 2: 1-4)
Pray for the churches of the province, that they would be lighthouses beaming forth the illuminating truth of God’s Word.

  7. There is a time for happiness and a time for sadness. For me, today is a day of great sadness as I see what an evil leader does – tries to crush his own people. In Canada today, the people themselves are considered the enemy of the state. When I saw the many replies to 100words.ca today, I thought they would be cries to God for sanity to return to our country.
I beg you please pray, as Charlene posted, for God to move our leaders to use wisdom as they make vital (life and death) decisions for Canadians.

From Anne Graham Lotz’s Daily Light:

“The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth
    come knowledge and understanding.

Trusting in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. § If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. § The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men… God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise… that no flesh should glory in His presence.”

    Prov. 2:6; 3:5; James 1:5; 1 Cor. 1:25; 1:27, 29

Father, we, from least to greatest in this country need Your wisdom. Please show us what to do and say, and give us the strength to do what is right, no matter the cost. Bless all those who stand up for righteousness, and please raise up more. Protect all the protesters, and open the eyes, ears, and hearts of our leaders to hear the cries of the people they are supposed to be serving. In Jesus’s name, amen

  8. Amen to all the thoughts and prayers. I have always been a patriotic Canadian and had loved ones in service during the wars, some came back and some were lost fighting for freedom, as I ‘m sure did many of our bloggers.
I have to keep praying to overcome my fear of our government.
