Key Verse: Numbers 32:23

But if you do not do so, then take note, you have sinned against the Lord; and be sure your sins will find you out.

Two messages grip my mind as I read this chapter. The first has to do with a statement my Mother drummed into me when I was a boy. She died when I was 12, and her warnings were reinforced as I would think about her. Many times she said, “David, be sure your sins will find you out.” She never gave a Bible reference, but I was afraid to sin, and I never could cover it up when I did sin (click here for the stolen apple story from an earlier blog). Our key verse is her Scripture source (Numbers 32:23b). The other message is from Genesis 4:9b, where Cain asks God, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” The tribes who wanted to settle on the east side of the Jordan promised Moses that they would be their brothers’ keepers. Our elder Brother, the Lord Jesus Christ, has promised to be our Keeper (Psalm 121:4 & Jude 1:24).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Lord God, please keep using Your Word to keep me living right. Thank You for parents who implant Scripture so deeply into their children that Your Word will never be extracted from their innermost being. Help me in my commitment to help keep my brothers and sisters from harm, from sin, and from Satan’s lies. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I witnessed the truth of Mother’s words about sin finding me out after my Father returned from overseas, where he spent six years during the Second World War. He had a “razor strap.” For the younger generation, that was not a razor, it was the leather belt on which he would run his straight razor back and forth until it was sharp. He would lather up his face with soap, and then proceed to move the sharpened blade back and forth across his face and neck. It was an awesome sight for an 8 year old who had been raised for 6 years by 3 women…Mother and two older sisters (Willa, 8 years older, and Elaine, 6 years older). Believe me, it wasn’t the razor which made it scary when my sin found me out; it was the leather strap. I only remember getting the strap on each of my two hands once. That was enough. I told myself, “Never again!” It was not only legal to discipline in this way, but in the government, the Department of Education supplied every teacher with a strap for this very purpose. I’m a witness to the fact that miracles in changed behaviour resulted immediately!

Yours for behaviour improvement in us all,

David

UPDATE: Mike was able to see the neurologist much earlier than anticipated (11/10 /20) resulting in more therapy and a clear that his brain has healed enough to tolerate more. The first week of “more” therapy (OT/PT) was very helpful and off to a great start. Then COVID hit Eventide at a rapid rate, closing it off to visitors. Mike’s visits were limited to Mom, Ashley, Dwane, Matthew, and Michael at different times and more safety measures. The therapists also ended up with COVID and therapy went on the wayside for a bit until there were subs which were difficult. They have been getting him up to stand, but it is very slow progress. He can stand for brief periods with assistance. His right hand continues to be the stronger one with some improvement in movement. The left hand has not been as successful with limited movement.

Swallowing — This has been the worst for Mike as he was still getting all of his nutrition via his feeding tube. We all know Mike loves to eat! With that, Mike was very agitated and kept asking to eat even pulling his feeding tube out once resulting in a trip to the hospital. The Speech Therapist was not allowed in for quite some time due to COVID and that they were short help in this area. Last Friday, the therapist was able to try some applesauce and pudding with Mike with great success. 👍 So right now he can have pureed foods and thickened liquids (he does not like). Hopefully, this will all continue to improve as he really wants to eat!!! This made him much less agitated and a happier man!

We were hoping to get him to a more aggressive therapy inpatient rehab center but with COVID numbers increased, this has been put on hold. He continues to gain strength and movement but definitely has his ups and downs.

Thank you for your continued prayers, support, kind words, and love for Mike and our family as Mike continues to gain strength and movement.

Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to you all during this time of trial. Thank You for new mercies and blessings each and every day. We thank You for wonderful families, spouses, food on the table and roofs over our heads.

    • Thank you HJR for your wishes and update on Mike. Head injury recovery takes a very long time, but it will come. We need be praying for a vaccine to end Covid, made available quickly to all Canadians, and a spot in an affluent rehab facility for Mike soon to follow. God speed, it will be done. In Jesus’ mighty Name, we pray. Amen.

    • Praise God for Mike’s recovery, I pray for a complete healing for Mike, and strength for the caregivers, thank you Jesus in You Name I pray, Amen!

he would be healed completely by the grace of
God, in Jesus’ Holy Name, and his family would

  4. May God be Mike’s portion each day and give him full recovery howbeit it may be slow. May God’s peace and mercy rest upon him.
Was teaching in Quebec Beverlee when you were born and President Kennedy was shot. Feared it could cause a war of some kind and I was away from home.

    • That sounds exciting to be teaching in Quebec, Ger. Everyone knows exactly where they were when JFK was assassinated, just as everyone remembers precisely where they were when the twin towers came down in 911. God bless you.

  5. Thank you Ron. Ann and Reynold. Lord God, bless Norma-Jean and all the Mainse family, I pray in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen!

Thank you Reynold for the awesome landscape!

have a blessed day in the LORD all you bloggers

  6. Dear friends, I remember the month of Nov in 2016 because I hung on every Word from God declared by our anointed, beloved,Paster David; although it was agonizingly heartbreaking watching David’s health deteriorate so shockingly…Thank God that Faith, Hope, and— especially—love (I Cor 13:13) was, and still is, the consoling salve!
In the spirit of David sharing global politics with us, especially recalling a seminal event captured in a photo of Rev David Mainse with PM Brian Mulrooney & Boris Yeltsin, Russia’s Ist President! Thus, politics plays a role in today’s blog because the 2016 USA elections David relates to revelations in Num 32:23; in addition to inadvertently (astonishingly!) speaking prophetically to the current 2020 US elections in the sense that, inspired by the Holy Spirit, breaks through with the warning that… sins against God would be found out…as revealed in the surprising 2016 leading to the *miraculous* 2017 Presidential Inauguration! Plus—equipped with fresh perspectives from the last 4 years—corruption & cheating have been identified after Nov 3, 2020 voting. For me, personally, this suggests that the miracle of 2017 has had lasting effects! Notable because watching a clip from the 2016 DNC I felt sickened when a military hero & his family were mocked, laughes with staggering contempt. Please accept my apology if I have transgressed, unintentionally, into your sacred space with unsolicited political views; I am truly sorry if in any way this has caused anyone discomfort & pledge praying immediately to seek Lord Jesus’ mercy & forgiveness; also, praying for wise leadership in Canada & the United States!

    • David always taught us to pray for world leaders. He did not prophesize about elections. I am sorry you have posted this comment, Linda, on the blog suggesting corruption and cheating in the 2020 US election. The vote speaks for itself and that means the next President elect is God chosen. It has been clearly proven there was no fraud in the voting system. We are each entitled to our opinion, but this blog is about reading the Bible daily, being uplifted by Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, and praying for one another. May God bless and keep you. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.
