FEASTS

Today’s Reading: Leviticus 23

All along the Old City walls of Jerusalem you will see bricked-in windows which gave a good defensive vantage point for soldiers. This window is at the walk-in entrance at the Jaffa Gate.

Key Verse: Leviticus 23:5

On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord’s Passover.

We who live in the so-called “new world” have trouble imagining anything really old. The walls pictured above are old, but really old are the establishment of the seven feasts of the Lord. They began 3,500 years ago and continue in the lives and homes of observant Jews today. The early Christians were all Jews, at least until the conversion of the Roman army officer, Cornelius (Acts 10). They continued faithfully celebrating these annual feasts, and in the past year, thousands of believers in Jesus who are Jewish are still celebrating. Many of us who are Gentiles have joined them from time to time (the Feast of Tabernacles is celebrated this month). Jews who believe that Jesus is their Lord and Saviour describe for us with great joy how Jesus is the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Some who read “100 words” are Jewish! Here’s an assignment for the rest of us. How do we see Jesus in all seven feasts? Here is a good summary article for you.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, as a Jewish Man, You celebrated the feasts. What a joy it would’ve been to live in a booth made of branches for a week with You during the Feast of Tabernacles! May I celebrate who You are for 52 weeks every year. I rejoice in Your constant Presence. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

On Norma-Jean’s night table for several weeks I noticed a book she was reading. It’s “The Practice of the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence. Her book mark was in his “5th Letter.” I read there, “This King, who is full of goodness and mercy, doesn’t punish me. Rather, He embraces me lovingly and invites me to eat at His table. He serves me Himself and gives me the keys to His treasury, treating me as His favourite…This is what being in His holy presence is like.” You can find this classic book online in a variety of versions here or you can read it online for free here.

Yours for celebrating His Presence, and for ministering as His representative,

David

  1. I find reading 📖 the info about the feasts to be amazing & yet mind boggling. I don’t know how the people were able to remember all the directions. I read postings & blog from Morris Cerullo & find that helpful. Beautiful day here in Southern Ontario. Enjoy the colours. Blessings all. Thinking of Beverlee & praying for strength & healing. Amen

    • Amen Doreen. I agree with all you have written take care and enjoy this lovely fall day .
Thinking of Beverllee and others today in our group who are suffering and who have appointments coming up.
I read In yesterday’s blog that Irene was in hospital for 11 days. God bless you my dear,, so glad you are back home, you were missed.
      Blessings to all Eleanor M.

      • I was thinking the same thing Doreen…..how mind boggling to keep it all straight!
Perhaps that was one of the reasons that God appointed Aaron and sons and future sons to be full time priests!

I grew up in the Christian faith and yet I feel that I am learning so much through this blog.

        • Amen,Doreen,I haven’t been keeping up with the blog very well.I am running late but I join you all in prayer for Beverlee. It’s a beautiful fall day here on the Atlantic coast with all the bright colours.Blessings

    • Thank you Bill for the link to Joe Amaral’s teaching on the Feasts. I was going to look it up but you beat me to it.
The link that David posted is also a very informative article explaining the Feasts. I would encourage you all to read it, if you haven’t already done so.

Irene, I am sorry that you were not well but glad that you’re home from the hospital. No wonder we were thinking of you and mentioned your name on the blog a few days ago. I pray renewed strength for you and complete healing, in Jesus Name! 🙏

  2. Thanksgiving Prayer:

    Heavenly Father,
Giving eternal thanks and praise for revealing Your Son’s purpose for coming into this world.
You open eyes to see and ears to hear Him, Messiah Yeshua – unveiled from Genesis to Revelation.
How glorious to know that Your Son Jesus is Saviour, Lord, and King Messiah – yet also a personal Shepherd who is an ever present help at all times.

    Forever grateful!

  3. Thank you Beverlee, Eleanor, Teresa, Luisa , Eleanor M. and others who may have prayed for my brothers. Thank you Beverlee for your recipe. The Lord will reward you.

  4. Today Mike from Fargo/Jamestown, Family Posted: It is wonderful news, please continue to pray for his full recovery. Tawni, is his daughter that was there the night this happened.

We were all blessed today with a miracle! After Dwane and Mom have been praying, our prayers along with all of your prayers, Mike started talking, walking, and following commands today! The hospice nurse put on Christian music and she asked Mike if he liked it and he said, “YES!” The nurses helped him walk from the bed to the chair and he was rocking himself in the chair. His speech is slurred, his eyes are open and blinking and he was closing his mouth and asking for water. We are all so elated and in shock as well. Ashley, Michael, Mom, Tawni, Lillian, Reuben, Matthew were all there to witness this miracle! Please keep up with the prayers that Mike continues to improve and get stronger. What a great day! Tawni was nominated to the Homecoming court and will attend the ceremony tomorrow. I guess things are looking up on this roller coaster ride! Love and blessings to all, The Mike Wanzek Family

    • Praise God!!!!!! Thank you HJR for this incredible update on Mike from Fargo!!! I just knew in my heart he would be a miracle and would wake up from this head injury. The swelling coming out of the brain is God’s way of protecting the injury and it has to do with His timing. We continue to pray for Mike’s full recovery and continued care, and give thanks for the medical staff. We share in the joy for his family. This is a testament to the power of never giving up and continuing to pray. Just elated by this news!!! Thank You, Lord!! Amen!!

  5. PRAISE AND THANK THE LORD FOR ALL THE GOOD THINGS HAPPENING IN THE MIKE WANZEK FAMILY!
    JOYFUL,JOYFUL,JOYFUL
    HEAR OUR SONG LORD
    WE ARE JOYFUL JOYFUL JOYFUL
THANK YOU LORD FOR THE HEALING OF THIS FAMILY
AMEN AMEN AMEN IN JESUS NAME WE PRAY AMEN AMEN AMEN
