Key Verse: Exodus 31:3

And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.

In order to be prepared for all God desires, we must do our part. Yes, God will give us gifts, enabling us to do our part. God created gold, silver, copper (out of which bronze was made), and jewels. Bezaleel, grandson of Hur, who lifted the hands of Moses, was prepared with his gifts to co-operate with God for God’s purpose. He was the chief artisan of the Tabernacle. God gave Moses the details but never intended that Moses would do it all by himself. We need the leadership of our Pastors, and our Pastors need us. As God has filled us with His Spirit, given us gifts “in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,” let’s show up and say, “I’m here Pastor. What do you need done?”

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, by Your grace given to me, I will show up at the Pastor’s study and ask, “Is there anything I can do to help you fulfill God’s call?” Lord, may I be willing to do a small task which no one else but You and the Pastor will know about, or a big task which the whole congregation notices. May I not expect recognition or honour. I want to be Your loyal servant. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen (so be it)!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

The motto of the Boy Scouts is “Be Prepared.” I had the opportunity to be a Cub, a Scout, and at 18, a Scout Leader for a year. I had those two words drilled into me. I love to work with my hands, as well as my heart and mind. Norma-Jean loves to serve too. A couple of years back, she took on a project of knitting toques for AIDS orphans in Africa. It gets cold in the highlands of Africa, particularly at night. I watched her for days as she knitted 55 of them. Many others joined her as our Crossroads Missions promoted the “Toques for Africa” challenge. We received over 10,300 knitted toques by our 100 Huntley Street viewers! Our missions partner in Swaziland booked the National Stadium, filled it with AIDS orphaned children, and handed out these treasures, along with many other blessings. What joy this service brought to the heart of God and to the hearts and heads of the children. (Our mission partner for that project was Heart for Africawww.heartforafrica.org).

Yours for service for the Lord,

David

  1. What an amazing project – Heart for Africa! Amazing work over a short time. Thank You Lord. I have wondered for some time about the Sabbath instructions especially when I saw a minister & his wife grocery shopping. Before Covid19, I would drive to another city close by & take a couple for their groceries after church. They don’t have a car & as we go to the same church, it was convenient. What do you think? My health issues (digestive) are rearing their mean heads today. I would appreciate prayers that. Thank you so much.

  2. Dear Father, thank You for the gifts You give every day. Thank You for this ministry and all the ministry You do through Your people everywhere. Bless all those who are faithful to You and to Your Word, and give all Your people discernment to know what is of You and what is not. Draw many to You today, Lord, in Jesus’s name, amen

    Speak, Lord, In The Stillness
    Author: Emily May Grimes Crawford, 1864-1927

    Speak, Lord, in the stillness
    while I wait on Thee;
    hushed my heart to listen
    in expectancy.

    Speak, O blessed Master,
    in this quiet hour;
    let me see your face, Lord,
    feel your touch of power.

    For the words You speak, Lord,
    they are life indeed;
    living bread from heaven,
    now on my spirit feed!

    All to You is yielded,
    I am not my own;
    blissful, glad surrender,
    I am yours alone.

    Fill me with the knowledge
    of your glorious will;
    all your own good pleasure
    in your child fulfill.

    Emily May Grimes Crawford is described in the author index of the Book of Common Praise (Toronto, 1938) as a Canadian Anglican [as author of “The Master comes! He calls for thee], which she altogether was nor was not. The hymn was first published in London by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in 1890, before Emily May Grimes had ever left her native England. In 1893, she went to South Africa under CMS sponsorship to work among the Pondo tribe; then, in 1904, she married T.W.W. Crawford, M.D., and went to work with him among the Kikuyu of Kenya. Her career thus far is outlined in Julian (1907), p. 1712. The mission station at which the bride arrived had indeed been started by the CMS, but had been turned over to the newly-formed mission…

  4. Interesting history of Emily May Grimes Crawford that she worked among the Kikuyu of Kenya who I have had the privilege of knowing a missionary nurse who worked among them in the 70’s and visited their tribe. God is good. Please pray for me as am visiting my doctor tomorrow concerning some bumps on my head. I appreciate your prayers.

  5. Thank you Beverlee. Yes I am still waiting for colonoscopy test. I called again yesterday and I was informed that the surgeon injured his hand so was not doing them now so this is another holdup. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow and see what he says. Thanks for your concern Beverlee.
