Key Verse: Genesis 43:30

Now his heart yearned for his brother; so Joseph made haste and sought somewhere to weep. And he went into his chamber and wept there.

Joseph is a type, or picture, of the Lord Jesus Christ. Both Joseph and Jesus were rejected by their brothers, sold for the price of a slave, considered to be dead, yet later declared alive. Both wept over people and circumstances, their hearts tender for others and their sin. Both were tested severly.

Joseph, I’m sure, faced the temptation to be angry and bitter against his brothers. Have you, like Joseph, been betrayed, treated cruelly, lied about and forsaken? Because of actions taken and lies told, have you lost the beautiful experience of God’s love? Or have you retained a soft, trusting heart? God honoured Joseph highly because of his magnificent attitude. He’ll do the same for you.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Lord, I need Your grace constantly. May Your Holy Spirit fill me so that the Person of Jesus Christ will be seen through me. Like Joseph, may I be tender-hearted, forgiving any and all who have sought to do me harm. I pray this in the Name of the One who prayed, “Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing.” Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

As children in Sunday School, we would be asked to quote a Bible verse by memory. I would often be the first to quote “Jesus wept,” the shortest verse in the Bible (John 11:35). We’d laugh, and even the teacher would manage a grimace. We, as immature children, did not understand the tears of Jesus. The only times we wept were out of self pity. As I grew older, I stopped crying for that reason. It was often reported to me that people would say, “Let’s turn on 100 Huntley Street and watch David cry.” So be it! I wear, as has been said, “my heart on my sleeve.” Sometimes I felt sheepish about my tears. I remember being encouraged when I read that the tough General Schwarzkopf, leader in the first Gulf War, said, “I never trust a man who can’t cry.” I felt better about my tears after that. I’m not ashamed to cry. Jesus and Joseph are my kind of men.

From my heart,

David

  1. One of my favourite stories in the Bible–the endearing forgiving heart of Joseph that whispers Jesus’ Name. Certainly relating to today’s scripture, as I am sure many other saints are, as well. Lord God, we cling to You, our olive branch of hope. For the calm trust and faith that Your Holy presence brings us, we give You all the thanks and praise. It is all for Your glory, Lord. In Jesus’ Name. Amen. Wishing all saints a comfortable and blessed day.

    The Spirit came into me as he spoke, and he set me on my feet. I listened carefully to his words. Ezekiel 2:2 NLT

  2. Dear Lord God, thank You for this day, for Your Word, for Your Spirit, Your sacrifice, and Your servants. Thank You. Bless all Your people today, wherever they are. You know where each one is and their circumstances. Help each one to face the day with Your strength, courage, wisdom, diligence, and love. Help each one to stand and, as Mr Churchill said, “Never give in!” In Jesus’s great name, amen

  3. There is that song HE’S GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS!
    Yes our Lord God has us all in His hands; it is so comfortable and I am so thankful that He does hold us in His hands; a very safe place to be now and forever more.
    Blessings to everyone…..
    My Pastor Jef is on holidays; I pray he has a good time and gets rested up; he is going for 3 weeks but I told our Church Council to consider having Pastor take another 3 weeks in the fall.
    I thank the Lord for this day and for everyone on this prayer site; I pray for healing for all, I pray for housing to become available to some families; I pray for the government to stand up and stop abortions;
    this is a very controversial subject; I have often wondered why men and women do not get birth control information at an early age, in some cases they can`t drink until 19,20 or 21 years of age, some can drive when they reach 16 years of age; in some schools birth control is available for students; BUT I would like to see courses offered for young and old, explaining emotions; how the body works; I believe that parents need help talking about these issues with their family;
    Pray for Alec Trebec as he fights cancer; pray for healing of young babies that I saw on the news last night; a 7 month old with cancer and a 4 year old also with cancer; May God heal these precious children and be with the parents and I pray the Parents will turn to the Lord in prayer
    in Jesus Name we pray amen amen

  4. Amen!

    My Dad often sang that song “He’s got the whole world in his hands” Brought back wonderful memories.
    God Bless
