THE DREAM

Today’s Reading: Genesis 36-37

A deep cistern in Egypt.

Key Verse: Genesis 37:28

Then Midianite traders passed by; so the brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt.

In Chapter 36 we learn that Esau refused to waste his life in bitterness. God richly rewarded his generosity of spirit. Chapter 37 tells of the dreamer. Be sure not to let your guidance come from dreams; they are 99% unreliable. However, in this case, God had truly revealed His plan to Joseph. When we hear from God, most of the time we should keep it between God and ourselves. When Joseph told the story of his dream to his brothers, it brought about a serious family feud. Indeed, God has many ways to bring about His will. He used this tragedy to put Joseph in Egypt so he could be tested and refined and then to save many lives, including his father and his family.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

On my morning walk I was thinking and talking to my Lord about putting together scrapbooks for my grandchildren of things and notes I have kept over the years. I was asking that my grandchildren would see Jesus and learn to love Him more through the beautiful memories He has blessed me with. Then I came in and read your blog for today. I’m going to get right at it. ~ Katie

  1. Chapter 37 is especially upsetting; knowing what Joseph’s jealous brothers did to him. But Joseph overcame because of God and not holding onto bitterness. The example of forgiveness he shows them to come is exemplary. A prelude to Jesus, indeed. You are the light of the world, Jesus–the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Whom have we in heaven but You? For there is none on earth besides You, Lord. Our hearts and our flesh may fail, but God is the strength of our hearts and our portion, forever. Thank You Jesus. It is all for Your glory. Wishing all saints a blessed day filled with His peace love and rest. Amen.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 ESV

so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. ”’ Isaiah 55:8-9
God was already years ahead of Joseph waiting for his dreams to be fulfilled. He must have smiled each time Joseph took a step in the right direction.Tomorrow that journey begins to unfold.God is also waiting for our journeys to unfold too.Hindsight is always 20/20.This whole existence is temporary,a school and a battle ground where we reveal our true character to God as He puts us through our trials. We are also part of the trials of other people too.God bless

  3. Dear Lord God, lead people to You today; as You did in the past, we ask You to do now. Thank You, Father, for Your good plans. You had plans for Joseph that affected generations, even us today. Save, Lord, and work out Your plans for all people, in Jesus’s great name, amen

  4. God’s promises are always “Yes” and “Amen” He is faithful to complete that which He has begone. Praise His Holy Name
