THE THIRD DAY

Today’s Reading: Hosea 5-6

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

The Convent of Pater Noster is on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. It is located at the site of the ruins of the “Eleona” Basilica, built in the 4th Century by Constantine over a cave where, according to tradition, Jesus taught the “Our Father” (“Pater Noster” in Latin). The walls of this convent are decorated with 140 large ceramic tiles, each one inscribed with the Lord’s Prayer in a different language (Matthew 6:9-13).

Key Verses: Hosea 6:1-2

“Come and let us return to the Lord; for He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind is up. After two days, He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His sight.”

The prophets of God were given insight into the judgment for sin that God would place on His Son, Jesus, Son of God and Son of man. Jesus was torn and stricken in our place. But through Him, God heals us and binds up our wounds, and then there is the resurrection of Jesus “on the third day.” Hosea was a contemporary of Isaiah. Hosea preached his message to the northern tribes of Israel and Isaiah to the southern tribes. Let’s take the time to read again from Isaiah 53. We can never read often enough Isaiah’s revelation of Jesus, the suffering Saviour.

God sent Hosea when Israel was at its lowest point morally and spiritually. Hosea’s message is that God promises to forgive, heal, restore, revive and establish God’s Kingdom, if only they will call upon Him. The northern ten tribes failed to return to God. The result was that they were scattered all over the world by their Assyrian overlords. The history of Israel is in our Bibles so that we may learn and not repeat the same mistakes and thus bring judgment on ourselves. Jesus gave us the “Our Father” prayer which calls out to God these words, “YOUR KINGDOM COME!”

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I pray that I will learn the lessons You are teaching me. Grant grace so that I may put what I’m learning into practice daily. I desire to please You and to live righteously before You! Continue to draw me ever closer to Yourself!! I pray this in the Name of the One who always loved and served You at 100%, my Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

There is only one city on earth for which the Bible specifically tells me to pray. That’s Jerusalem! (read Psalm 122). I’ve been praying for Jerusalem fervently over the past few days. More than 1,000,000 Jews and Arabs live in that great city today. The clearly-spoken threats of annihilation by Iran (formerly Persia) hang like a sword over their heads.  A few years ago, when Iraq (Babylon) was about to complete their nuclear facilities, Israel bombed their reactor in what they considered a preemptive strike. Iran is about to complete their development of nuclear weapons in spite of the recent agreement with the U.S.A. I wonder and I pray. On “THE THIRD DAY,” Jesus arose from the dead and lives forever to, as Hebrews 7:25 says, pray for “those who have come to God through Him.” That includes me! Hallelujah!!! Have a wonderful Easter celebration soon!

Yours for encouraging prayer for “the peace of Jerusalem!!!”

  1. Thank you Luisa and Sah for comments on my post from yesterday. I was glad to hear from you Sah because you hadn’t posted for awhile, I was wondering if you were ok.
Prayed David’s prayer this morning, I am also praying for each one who reads this blog,. Dear Lord give us all protection from this Virus, Help us all follow the rules so we won’t be infected or infect anyone else. I pray that many more people will be drawn to yourself because of these trying times. Thank you for your amazing love and your mercies which are new every morning. In Jesus precious name I pray Amen.

  2. Amen. I believe that is why the Lord has allowed this pandemic all over the world – to cause people to look up and to call upon Him.

    • Amen.
It is so good to have you all commenting on this blog. You help me a lot.
We returned from Florida last week, Wednesday. Almost through 14 day isolation. My daughter lives right next door so she and her husband have been wonderful at bringing us food. Thank you Lord we have food to eat.
I know I am drawing nearer to our Father and Jesus these days. I need Him so much these days. We live on a farm so it is easy enough for us to keep our distance from people. We do go for a car ride most days. That helps with the cabin fever. Lol. We do not get out of the car. We do however get something to eat at a drive by window. I sure hope that it’s ok to do that.
If anyone would like to, could you pray for me, I have been suffering with anxiety and fear. For a year now. Many of my friends in Florida are praying. It’s almost like I knew something awful was going to happen and it has. I think and pray many come to Jesus as result of what’s happening in today’s world. God is so good! His ways are not our ways!
Thanks you all, for being here on this blog. God bless you all.

      • Nan,fear is ‘one of’ Satan’s favourite weapons. When I wrote this poem I did not realize how true it is until experience showed me it undeniably. It is when you become aware of the source for your anxiety that you can then deny that source and pray against him.(“Satan, get thee behind me,in Jesus’ name ! )God bless
        Control

Satan blends his thoughts with yours,
You think they came from you,
For his goal is to close all doors,
        To control everything you do.

He starts this at an early age,
His lies make you the liar
And if you are in a rage,
That’s when you fuel his hellfire.

But just like Satan who sneaks in,
There is Another who is true,
For He knows well about sin
And what Satan wants with you.

He will only enter if invited,
A slave is not His goal,
He seeks a fire be ignited
From within to make you whole.

      • Praying for you, Nan. May you find the peace that God has promised us in His Word.
May you find comfort in the thought that many saints are lifting you up in prayer, before the Father.
        God bless you!

  3. I agree with the above. As I said a few days ago, this is just ‘a shaking’ to get our attention. Some think it may be seasonal and return in the fall?If so,at least we will get a summer reprieve.
    A word for Jerusalem:
    The Mountains Of The Lord

His mountains shall be above all mountains,
His house above Zion’s hills shall rest,
For this is the pool of the golden fountain,
His people, the chosen few and best.

The rivers will flow to the shores of Zion,
For the world will soon know this King,
The proven Master we could rely on,
    The Shepherd worthy above everything.

His exalted name will be widely praised,
When He returns to vanquish the beast,
And everywhere voices will be raised
In celebration with His banquet feast.

Let fair warning go throughout the land
He will return with shield and sword
And as Satan shall take his last stand,
My Friend shall show that He is Lord.

  4. The bottom photo today is a reminder of happier days (and heaven has a greater counterpart.) but it first reminded me of this poem.I live in the boonies.Perhaps that is why I have little fear of this disease but I do give it diligent respect and take precautions.Yall have a great day, draugh closer and trust in God.

    The Open Tomb

As I now stand in the open tomb,
I see the world that brought My doom,
    When every heart was filled with gloom;
That’s why I must prepare them room.

I taught enough to give them sight,
That they will know that truth is right
And in this truth shall shine My light
Until My return with Heaven’s might.

The love I felt in this world of hate
Is too strong for mere words to state,
But for some it’s now not too late
To follow Me through Heaven’s gate.

  5. We to have returned from Florida, doing our 14 day isolation. We live out in the boonies according to some of our friends, on our farm. To us we feel the peacefulness that so many desire. I also feel God is wanting our attention, lets all pray fervently. This is the one thing we all can do!

  6. Amen Al and all who posted today. I also feel the Lord has allowed this virus to get people’s attention and join you in prayer that each household will look up and consider where they stand with the Lord and bow their knee to Him. Believe our leaders and medical care team etc. are doing a good job and working to capacity to look after Canadians. Read this morning that Brazil considers church services are essential services. Visited my brother yesterday and he is calm but so thin. Asking the Lord how I should pray for him now that he has recommitted his life to the Lord. At this crisis time globally, I am reminded of the verse that says, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…and that every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”(Phil. 10-11). Grant it Lord, in Jesus Name. Please keep my brother in prayer as He could still perform a healing miracle. Amen! Thank you and may the Lord keep us all safe.

    • Praise God your brother has claimed the name of Jesus, Ger. Such a comfort to your heart. Praying for His will to be done. Amen. God bless you and your brother.

  7. I agree with every comment above and pray for peace in Jerusalem
and throughout the world, in Jesus’ Almighty Name, Amen!

Psalm 91 – Gives us all HOPE FOR THE FUTURE! AMEN!
