Today’s Reading: 1 John 1-3

One of the ancient roads in Ephesus. John, author of today ‘s reading, would have walked this street as the Apostle serving the church of Ephesus and the other churches, as recorded in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. Perhaps on this public place he preached the Gospel of Light, Love, and Life in Jesus Christ.

Key Verse: 1 John 3:2

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Eight times in the first two chapters, John gives reasons as to his purpose in writing this letter to all of us. (1) Joy (2) Stop sinning (3) Love one another (4) Children (5) Fathers (6) Young men (7) God’s will (8) Truth vs. lies. These are all practical instructions so that “We may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 John 2:28b). John describes the essence or nature of God’s Being in three ways. Firstly, LIGHT – No darkness in Him (1:5). Secondly, LOVE – “He who does not love does not know God” (4:8). And thirdly, LIFE – “He who has the Son has life” (5:12a).

Lord God, thank You for the promise that I “shall be like Him” when I “see Him as He is!” I pray that as I move toward that blessed time, I will grow more and more into Your likeness as I “walk in the light” of Your Word daily! I ask this in the Name of the One Who declared, “I am the Light of the world,” Jesus Christ Himself! Amen!!!

Last evening Norma-Jean and I attended a prayer meeting. We went forward to the altar so that we could pray for others. God only knows what He accomplished in people’s lives. One thing I do know, Jesus was very present! He promised that “Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there I am in the midst of them.” John’s Gospel and his three letters we have in our Bibles are all about Jesus!!!

Yours with our hearts and minds on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  1. You are the Light, the Love and the Life, Lord. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life. We walk with You in our hearts because You live and breathe in us. Beloved children of God, let us give Him all the thanks and praise. For it is all for His glory that we have been saved. Holding you in prayer, fellow saints, for your safety and peace.

“Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.

  2. Dear Lord, thank You for Your Word – help us to cherish and honour it by obeying it – and Your servants, who pray for us, bring Your Word to us, and model God-honouring lives among us.
Keep all Your people in Your care today, Father, and may Your Spirit burn brighter and show more clearly in and through all Your children throughout the world, in Jesus’s great name, amen

  3. Obedience always shows our love to God.Satan does not yank the carpet out from under us;he ever-so-slowly slides it out with each step we take so that we do not detect it in our motions. He has been doing this throughout each generation mostly undetected as he tries to mislead ‘each generation’.That is another important reason why we must have fellowship with each other for in a flock, one of the sheep might detect the movement of their carpet and warn the whole flock and become a gateway against the devil.
Father God,please keep us conscious of the devils in our presence as well as those amongst us.In Jesus’ eternal name,I pray.Amen

    • Good point, William. If the enemy showed his evil acts blatantly, we would recognize it and shun it. However, he is very stealth and subtle. We need to be aware of his tactics.

Praying for you, Doreen and your sister. I have some friends who are in Nursing Homes, others in hospital but I cannot visit them. May God bring His comfort and peace to each one in whatever situation we find ourselves in.
God bless you all and make you a blessing to others.

  4. Amen saints. Heard a good preacher say today that this is the church’s and the Christians’ finest hour. Help us Lord not to miss this hour but pray for our families, country and the world. Lord you are the Light, the Life and the Everlasting Love! We praise you. Trust all are safe and your sister is alright Doreen! Amen!

  5. EXODUS 12:1-13 Each family were to remain in their home: Each family is to stay at home until this coronavirus is defeated

The lord says “fear not for I am with you…”

    Be safe and fear not
