The Stoa of Attalos in Athens is recognized as one of the most impressive stoae (covered walkways) in the Athenian Agora (market place). It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon who ruled between 159 BC and 138 BC. It was rebuilt between 1953 and 1956.

Key Verse: Romans 10:12-13

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

“Jew and Greek” could also be written, “Israeli and Gentile.” God has every right to choose His people. He chooses all those He knows in His foreknowledge will call on His Name! We may want to ask God for the same deep concern Paul experienced for his people, according to the flesh, the Jewish people. Paul had great sorrow and continual grief in his heart for Israel. He longed for their salvation. He showed the depth of his intercession when he was willing, if necessary, to be separated from God in order that they might be saved. This kind of prayer, and Paul’s continued witness for Christ, resulted in many more thousands of Jews becoming believers in Jesus. For at least the first 100 years, the core and leadership of the Christian Church was Jewish. God responds with strong initiatives to bring people to Himself when we pray as Paul prayed. The promise of our key verse happens over and over and over again. On the 100 Huntley Street telecast the hosts try to give an invitation to call on the Name of the Lord Jesus in every program. PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, as Your disciples asked You, even so I ask You the same: “Lord, teach us to pray.” Not just the words to say, but to actually do my praying with greater fervency than ever before. In Your strong Name I pray. Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! You promise, Lord Jesus, through Your brother, Jerusalem Pastor James, that “The fervent effectual prayer of a righteous man [or woman] will avail much” (James 5:16b). Read James 5:13-20.

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

In my prayer life, it’s a fact that the more fervently I’ve prayed, getting up earlier and earlier in the morning to cry out to God, the more of God’s will I saw happen. I’m constantly reminded that the Lord is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9b). The obvious fact is that the greater my level of fervency, the greater creative means of presenting the Good New of Jesus are found, and the more people come to Christ. For example, over 60% of all information people receive now comes from the Internet. On 100huntley.com, exciting new material is being added daily as God’s people pray and give sacrificially…and a lot of past material is there too. As a 80-year-old Evangelist, I can hardly believe that many of my messages and interviews from the past are now present, and will continue to be there, God willing, into the future. As an example, here is an interview I did years ago with George Foreman, the only person to win twice the world’s heavyweight boxing championship  — click here.

Yours for the whole world to be saturated with messages from the heart of Jesus!

David

  1. Could feel the loving prayers of the saints, this morning, soaking in His Presence. Such divine scripture, laced with so many truths! Yes, the one who believes in him will never be put to shame. The word is near us; it is in our mouths and in our hearts. The message concerning faith, we must proclaim. Oh, how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! “He chooses all those He knows in His foreknowledge will call on His Name!” Wishing such beautiful saints, appointed by our Heavenly Lord, a blessed day! May it be filled with love, peace, and joy!

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

    • Yes,Doreen.I had to share that on my FB page with these words:
” WOW !!!What a testimony,George Foreman.Ya gotta watch this.God can find you ”from a direction where you never saw him coming”;no 2 people in the same way,me thinks.”

  2. Jesus often spoke in parables. Is not the Christian life not like a parable??We live in our world within ‘the world’.Those in ‘the world’ can not understand ‘the Christian world’ for they choose to live in the ‘parable’ (comparable) physical world, missing the spiritual world. It is our duty, when called,to teach them (gently).
“’14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[t] ”’
If I am called He will equip me but I feel some guilt that I am not capable of breaking the ice (yet) and witness to non Christians.Yall have a good day
    Our World Forgot

The world forgot what is right
For we were supposed to teach them,
By sharing with them the light
But we could not reach them.

Not long ago I was ‘them’
    Until I found the light He gives;
The One the world would condemn,
Who died to show He lives.

They don’t want to know our ways
For they think their ways suit them best,
But we know how it dismays
    When one begins the quest.

We must begin to reach out
Or we may loose them all to sin,
So we must defeat the doubt,
    To plant the seed within.

    Using words at their command
Will allow His word to embed,
    Thus they can then understand
How He rose from the dead.

  3. Yes, fervent prayer avails much! David’s prayer emphasized that;
Great testimony by George Forman; how good to see Father Bob MacDougall again, a man filled with the Holy Spirit; so enjoyed his ministry when he was on 100Huntley Street.

Please pray for my sister Ollie, she has struggled with dementia, but was doing quite well living on her own, in a seniors condo. Her daughter and son-inlaw live close to her saw to her needs..
However, her daughter has e-mailed me that Ollie has failed much in the last few months and will be moved into an extended care facility on the 15th of January. Her daughter moved her from Edmonton which was her home for years; to the condo in Vancouver about three years ago.
I’m asking for prayer for Ollie to be able to adjust to the move; at this time her daughter and Ollie have been at loggerheads, as Ollie feels her daughter is not paying attention to HER needs, but just telling her what to do.

I’ve prayed for the Lord’s intervention, and that the move will be what the Lord has planned for her; Her daughter (Trish) is a retired psychiatric, said that for the first few weeks Ollie will not have access to a phone, so that she will seek to get to know the residents there instead of visiting on the phone.
Although her daughter will help her use their cell phone every once in a while during the period of time, until they feel she has adjusted.

Thank you for praying for my sister Ollie.

    • Dear Irene,
I am praying for your sister Ollie. May God help her adjust easily to the new living arrangements. I pray that her daughter will be attentive to Ollie’s needs and have much patience and understanding.
May she also meet other residents that have the same interests and she can enjoy socializing with them.
May your heart also be at peace in all this, Irene. God bless you!

  4. Praise God that He loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    (John 3:16)

Yes, I agree with David’s comment that “no distinction between Jew and Greek, should also say “Israeli and Gentile” He died for all the world!

Be blessed on this the Lord’s Day!

  5. Will pray for your sister Ollie Irene as I can feel her need and that the Lord will intervene for her and give her friends to help her make the adjustment. Also there will be reconciliation between the mother and daughter. Find David’s posting on prayer very inspiring. Also remember this interview with George Foreman.
