THE PROMISED LAND

Today’s Reading: Numbers 33-34

The Dead Sea road follows the contour of the rugged terrain.

Key Verse: Numbers 33:53b

…for I have given you the land to possess.

Yesterday, Reynold’s photograph was of “The Great Sea,” the Mediterranean. Today it’s of “The Salt Sea,” or the Dead Sea. Both Seas are mentioned twice in today’s reading. “The Sea of Chinneret,” known now as the Sea of Galilee, is referred to once. Geography is obviously important to God. The 1948 miracle of the establishment of Israel as a sovereign nation for the first time in over 2,000 years, and the introduction of Hebrew as a language of daily life for the first time in over 2,500 years, has never happened to any people group before in human history. Israel is now on the land promised to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob 4,000 years ago.  Israel is surrounded by 22 countries which are hostile to its very existence. These countries have 640 times Israel’s land mass and 60 times her population, and they have most of the oil that we know about in the Middle East. Was Israel pushed into the sea as Egypt’s Nasser said? Will it be wiped off the map as Iran’s Ahmadinejad said? Keep reading the Bible. Watch and pray. We’ll soon discover the answer to that question.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I pray for insight in my understanding of ancient and modern Israel. Help me in as few words as possible to communicate Your heart to others. May I think Your thoughts after You. As Samuel said to You, Lord, I say also: “Speak, for Your servant hears.” Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

[Written by David on November 24, 2016]

You may want to join me in reading the story of God speaking to Samuel (1 Samuel chapter 3). God sometimes speaks through dreams or visions, but 99% of the time it is through our reading and meditating on His Holy Word. Psalm 107 says,  “He sent His Word and healed them.” I’m now 2 1/2 years past the date of my appointment with death, according to the medical professionals. Twice now my wonderful oncologist was present when I thanked the medical team for all their help. He pointed up and said, “And you’ve had lots of prayer too.” True!…and I’ve also received the daily injection of God’s Word in reading the Scriptures and writing this blog. That’s powerful medicine!!!

Yours with the prayer that I’ll be a help in Christian growth and healing,

David

  1. No doubt David has heard the words “Well done!” shortly after he went home. This blog has helped me enormously.Thank you to the Mainse family for repeating this blog daily and may God bless

I have never noticed anyone else mention that Israel does not yet possess all of the promised land.Israel never seems to mention this fact. Here is one link to a map of the Promised Land.God bless

I click on the image and then I can enlarge it and drag the image too.(I have also saved it to my desktop.)

  2. This is such a source of the word. Thank you so much for keeping this blog going. A morning ritual for my wife Lorna and myself Dale. Bless the ministry of 100 Huntley Lord.

  3. William I just read this in Day unto Day by Nizar Shaheen and I quote, “Faithfulness has its rewards, but there is a price to pay for disobedience, and the Israelites paid dearly. Sadly, because of their sin, the full extent of their borders were never realized , except for a short period of time during the reigns of King David and Solomon.”(Year One, Spring edition, p.g’s 110-111). Suppose to warm up today. Blessings.

  4. That was a lot of camping & moving on! I would not have liked that very much. What a sacrifice Samuel’s mother & father made in giving their first child to be raised in the Tabernacle & only seeing him so rarely.

  5. Amen Doreen!

It would not be a life for me either. I like to be settled someplace and enjoy it.

Winter has set in I believe, it is cold and windy here in this Alberta.

Be blessed in the Lord this day!

  6. When Jesus Christ returns to earth then there will be peace all around in the mean time we carry on in the Name of Jesus Christ pleading the Blood of the Lamb over all our world, trials and tribulations will continue but I am so thankful for this blog to be able to share our thoughts and prayers and concerns…..
I will post more tomorrow but I have been going through some more “crap”, it’s hard to deal with all the “crap” but again, all Praise and Thanks giving to our Lord Jesus Christ for being there with us….just as He has always promised, He is with us always,He will never leave nor forsake us…Thank you Lord
God bless all…..please continue to pray for me…..

  7. Praying for Israel, always. Amazed by the Old Testament and how people lived during those times; in today’s reading, moving all the time. God chose Samuel and would place the gift of prophecy upon him. Thank You Lord for today’s Word, message and prayer. His blessings of peace love and hope upon you, fellow saints in the Lord.

For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
    1 Timothy 4:4-5 ESV
