LIGHT, LOVE, LIFE

Today’s Reading: 1 John 1-3

One of the ancient roads in Ephesus. John, author of today ‘s reading, would have walked this street as the Apostle serving the church of Ephesus and the other churches, as recorded in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. Perhaps on this public place he preached the Gospel of Light, Love, and Life in Jesus Christ.

Key Verse: 1 John 3:2

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Eight times in the first two chapters, John gives reasons as to his purpose in writing this letter to all of us. (1) Joy (2) Stop sinning (3) Love one another (4) Children (5) Fathers (6) Young men (7) God’s will (8) Truth vs. lies. These are all practical instructions so that “We may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 John 2:28b). John describes the essence or nature of God’s Being in three ways. Firstly, LIGHT – No darkness in Him (1:5). Secondly, LOVE – “He who does not love does not know God” (4:8). And thirdly, LIFE – “He who has the Son has life” (5:12a).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, thank You for the promise that I “shall be like Him” when I “see Him as He is!” I pray that as I move toward that blessed time, I will grow more and more into Your likeness as I “walk in the light” of Your Word daily! I ask this in the Name of the One Who declared, “I am the Light of the world,” Jesus Christ Himself! Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Last evening Norma-Jean and I attended a prayer meeting. We went forward to the altar so that we could pray for others. God only knows what He accomplished in people’s lives. One thing I do know, Jesus was very present! He promised that “Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there I am in the midst of them.” John’s Gospel and his three letters we have in our Bibles are all about Jesus!!!

Yours with our hearts and minds on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ!

David

  1. Thanks beautiful saints for all your prayers; feeling better. The words spoken by John, this morning, are totally enlightening and reaffirm everything I have always believed upon dying and returning home to heaven, before ever reading the affirming Truth in the Bible. Jesus is pure light and love and seeing His Face completely revives us, as we are made whole with Him. Nothing could be greater than this and yet we live our lives stuck in the pain of our human struggles and existence, forgetting that this is what we have to look forward to. Oh, that John’s words may revive us, here on earth as it is in heaven. Let us live today, as if we are already there in the loving arms of our precious Saviour. May our spirits be lifted as we meditate in the Presence of our Christ Jesus, this morning. Wishing all saints a blessed day in the Lord.

while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, Titus 2:13 NIV

      • Praying peace and strength for you, Doreen and for your family.
May your dear sister be at ease and pain-free. May she be filled with the joy of knowing she will soon ” arrive home” and see our Glorious Saviour face to face . Oh what a glorious hope is ours!

Be blessed in the Lord, dear brothers and sisters !

  3. Doreen, isn’t wonderful that you know that your dear sister is going to be with the Lord. We know that you will miss her BUT we also know you will see her again. Amen and Amen. Thank you for Jesus!!!

  4. NEW PRAYER REQUEST for my friend from church, Ric. He just found out he has stage four bone cancer; has been very sick since Christmas. Our bible study and prayer group at church are fervent in prayer for him. Could saints please call out to the Lord to heal him completely and make him a living miracle? He is going through a real transformation because of God’s hand on his life. Thank you, fellow saints in the Lord.

  5. Praying for each one on the blog, that our Lord Jesus Christ would
provide all their needs, in His Holy Name, Amen!

    • I wish the messages would be updated, too, Anne. But the important part of it is staying with the daily Bible reading and the teaching about those scriptures, which still comes from David’s original blog. I am still so grateful it will continue for another run, come June.

  6. What uplifting scripture today, Thank You Jesus for Your love for us, that we can love one another as You Love us!!

Be blessed and encouraged all bloggers!!
