Hello blog friends. Ron Mainse here… Can I ask a favour? Dad was thrilled to know that his 100 Words blog was going to continue on after he was with Jesus. And I know he would want this daily journey through the Bible to be spread far and wide…to everyone we know. So here is the favour I’m asking… Will you share this opportunity with your friends and family? …even post an invitation to your Facebook friends? Here is one way you could word it… “Although David Mainse has gone on to Heaven, how would you like to continue receiving ministry from him EVERY DAY?” Then point people to www.100words.ca and suggest they subscribe to the free daily email from David Mainse! Thank you for honouring my father in this way.  – Ron

By the way, Dad’s memorial website (davidmainse.com) has been updated with a link at the top to the complete Celebration Service of his life from last Saturday (minus some of the technical glitches in the original live broadcast). Also, this past Monday’s 100 Huntley Street program provides highlights from the Celebration Service. You can find it HERE.

Now, here is today’s 100 Words posting by David Mainse…

AWESOME

Key Verses: Psalm 65:5, 66:1-3

By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us,

O God of our salvation,

You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth,

And of the far-off seas;

…Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!

Sing out the honor of His name;

Make His praise glorious.

Say to God, “How awesome are Your works!

Through the greatness of Your power

Your enemies shall submit themselves to You…

Teens went through a phase a while back when it seemed that everything was “awesome!” In today’s reading the word “awesome” is appropriate. It’s used three times!!! Is it any wonder that we are encouraged to “Make a joyful shout to God!”

Meditate and wisely consider Psalm 64:1 & 64:9b. These are daily instructions for us all. God’s deeds are surely worthy of the utmost AWE!!! Consider the following facts – (1) Victory over enemies (66:3) – our enemies are not nations around us, but self and sin within us. Jesus is our AWESOME Deliverer! (2) The Lord rules, therefore, we can trust Him always (66:7) – verse 66:5 assures us that “He is AWESOME in His doing toward the sons of men!” (3) In an AWESOME way God has brought us out to rich fulfillment! (66:12b) – God is AWESOME in His answers to prayer! (66:19).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Thank You, Lord God, that You have “not turned away my prayer,” and You have not turned away Your “mercy from me!” (66:20). I know that the reason I can come before You in prayer and know that You hear me is not because of any righteousness in me, but only because of Your Son and my Saviour, Jesus Christ. I confess my sin before You! I have Your assurance that You have heard my confession and that I’m forgiven. I believe You when You spoke these words about Yourself through Your Apostle John, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Amen! Amen! Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Again first thing this morning I confessed my confidence in the Lord Jesus by quoting Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” The gift of faith from God that allows me to truly believe this statement also allows the truth of this statement to be lived out throughout the next 24 hours.

Yesterday I decided to check for mistakes in my recent book, This Far By Faith. I found several misprints, etc. Because of a deadline the book was rushed into print before I had a chance to critically read with care what I had typed into my laptop computer. For example I read that I had given my life to Christ in December of ’52, been filled with the Holy Spirit in June of ’53, and called into the Christian ministry in August of ’53. But there was a wrong date in print. I had mistakenly typed that I had lost my temper in the Fall of ’53 and punched out a football player on the opposing team. Doesn’t sound like a teenager who had already been saved, filled with God’s Spirit and called to be a minister, does it? The fact is that I was kicked out of the game for unnecessary roughness (fighting) in the Fall of ’52. This was one of the reasons I knew I needed God in my life, and why I was desperate for God’s help. In the fall of ’53, the next time I met that player on the field, I asked for and received his forgiveness.

Yours for honesty and getting my words typed here in my blog correctly,

David

  1. “Victory over enemies (66:3) – our enemies are not nations around us, but self and sin within us.”
I did not know this, and was often puzzled because of my wrong thinking. Finally, I can better understand this Scripture! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! 🙂

Thank you Ron for your messages, Reynold for the divine photo, this morning (one of my favourites), and your father’s continued heart-warming messages that go with such divine scripture of the Psalms. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Cor 4:6 NIV

  6. Since I got my Philips Life Line I have not had any long seizures. I have had small ones though , and have not had to use it although the life line is very sensitive to any touch and reassures my family, and friends that I have help . I will keep Jonah, and his family in my prayers.

  7. Hi,Ron,God bless you for your faithfulness and much more. You have grown so much since your time ‘on the roof’.No,I’m not ‘pulling your leg’.
The word “awesome” triggered a memory of a poem but I had no idea which one, then it came to me.It is one of my many favorites.Perhaps I should have named it “Awesome”.

” And the beauty that grew was so awesome.”

    Back To The Garden

I want to go back to the garden,
    Back to before sin knew it’s name;
Before hearts of stone would harden,
For then,Lord, our hearts were the same.

Father take me back,if only in dreams,
To Your world where love was to blossom,
Where birds sang beside mountain streams,
And the beauty that grew was so awesome.

Show me this secret garden of yours,
Where I can be free from my sin,
Where the angels keep open doors
And time was not free to begin.

Show me the way to the garden path,
For too long my garden sprouts sin,
So let Your fire burn free your wrath
To build a new heart from within.

  8. Thank you for loading the celebration I watched it again. I thought maybe I’d like
to have a celebration not a funeral the celebration to honour your dad and mom was
    wonderful

  9. Good morning- I’m on dad’s blog because I heard it of it when his funeral was televised. Just to mention that I met my Pastor -Brian Steed through 100 Huntley Street -he was being interviewed; little did I know that a year later Pastor Steed entered my life.
I put your request on my Facebook page and I am enjoying this blog emensley 🙂
    Linda

  10. Thank you, William, for your beautiful poem, “Back to the Garden”. I think accepting Christ brings us back to the Garden in our heart to live our lives for God..”here”..and as we have celebrated the Life of David Mainse…”the joy of eternity”. I love and often pray, for myself, a verse of a song and especially the last couple of lines:

“Light, life and love are in that healing fountain,
All I require to cleanse me and restore,
FLOW THROUGH MY SOUL, REDEEM ITS DESERT PLACES,
AND MAKE (PLANT) A GARDEN THERE FOR THE LORD I ADORE”
    (Written by Albert Orsborn)

Agreeing in prayer for little Judah. “let the little children come unto me”-Jesus
It is so difficult to see little children suffering. “Strength” & “Peace” to all! Ps.29:11
Also, for Lianne. May God continue to touch your life. 1 Cor. 12 talks of many gifts, most are singular. But for healing, it says “giftS of healing” May God’s healing hand be upon all who struggle with physical or medical difficulties – by whatever means he chooses to minister his healing touch upon our lives.

Finally, I am so deeply challenged by David’s life: his battle with health, his faith in God, his powerful testimony, his passion for souls and love of His Lord, his Joy of sharing Jesus.

“Lord, lay some soul upon my heart, and love that soul through me; and may I humbly do my part to win that soul to Thee”

“Except I am moved with compassion, How dwelleth Thy Spirit in me?
In word and in deed, burning love is my need, I know I can find this in Thee”

    Samuel

    • I apologize, Eleanor. I typed his name as Jonah. Praise God our prayers for little Judah and his parents will be answered. Amen! And to any other babies, of followers on the blog, who have cancer and need prayer, we call to our Lord God to heal them all. In Jesus’ Mighty Name! AMEN!

    • We have seen the good results of prayer for healing locally and know it works.I believe “fervency” of prayer is very important and not merely a “mechanical” prayer,so meditating on such prayer beforehand would be a good idea for us all.I just prayed again for little Judah and his parents.God bless

  11. My 87 year old Mother has attended church her entire life, rarely missing a Sunday service. She watched David’s celebration of life on my computer last night and said that she never really understood what being washed in the Blood of the Lamb meant and that Jim’s words at Davids Celebration of Life has helped her understand it. She also wanted to know what a blog was and so I will be emailing her the 100word.ca link. Thank you for keeping 100 words up and running!
I too agree with prayers for the healing for little Judah Amen

  12. Thank you Ron for your faithfulness and to Ann all who are involved in getting this blog to us!!
I so much enjoyed 100Huntley Street this morning; each of you sharing your hearts and thoughts as you were interviewed by Cheryl, Maggi and Greg!
How wonderful that your Dad’s legacy is being carried on through your ministries and this blog, and 100Huntley Street!!
