FULLNESS OF JOY

Today’s Reading: Psalms 15-17

Belvoir Fortress was constructed by the Crusaders 1,000 years ago on a precipice high above the Jordan Valley. This location is only about 20 kilometres south of the Sea of Galilee and looks across into Jordan.

Key Verse: Psalm 16:11

You will show me the path of life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

YES!!! IT’S TRUE!!! Right now we can experience that “fulness of joy!” and the pleasures that are at His “right hand!” Just think of the amazing honour to be able, by God’s grace, to do as Psalm 15 instructs us.

The Apostle Peter is a participant in today’s blog. Here’s a commentary on Psalm 16 by Peter, given in the first recorded message he preached on the birthday of the Church on the streets of Jerusalem. Let’s read together Acts 2:22-32. Jesus is alive!!! Then let’s read again our key verse. If we are not finding in Jesus the “joy” spoken of in our key verse, we should check our pulses…we may be dead!

Psalm 17 has in it the words, “apple of Your eye.” That’s God’s eye to which David refers in his prayer. Just think how careful we are to protect our eyes. David prayed, “Keep me as the apple of Your eye.” Now that’s protection! That’s the best security we could ever have! YES!!! JOY!!!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I pray with the writer of this prayer, David (a suggestion to everybody – read and pray out loud, if possible, the following verses…Psalm 17:1-8). Then, Lord, I am confessing with full assurance of faith, “As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness” (17:15). Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I accept and believe God’s Truth! The Apostle John wrote three letters to us all. He begins the first letter with, “These things we write to you [you and me] that your joy may be full!” (1st John 1:4). Then in chapter 3 of that letter, verses 1-3 (click here), John declares that, “We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” Oh, the longing that filled my heart as a 16-year-old as I learned and sang the chorus, “O to be like Thee, Blessed Redeemer…Come in Thy sweetness. Come in Thy fullness, stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.” I weep with joy as I sing this prayer just now. I can hardly see the keys for tears. The English language fails me in expressing what is in my heart. Therefore, I’m praying, as Paul said he did, “I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding!” (1 Corinthians 14:15). That refers to my spirit. According to the Scriptures, I am “spirit, soul and body.” Here’s a link to that song of longing to be like Jesus.

Yours for “Fullness of Joy!”

David

P.S. Hi folks, Ron Mainse here. I wanted to let you know that dad is back in the hospital and is very ill. The doctors are very concerned, as his health has been steadily declining. I’m writing at his bedside now as he sleeps.  Although he currently doesn’t have the strength to keep up with writing/editing this blog, Ann and I will continue to post his daily words and photos from his previous two-year journey through the Bible. Please keep him in your prayers. God bless you!  – Ron

The moat around the Belvoir Fortress (described in the photo caption above). According to the Shepherd king David, we have much greater security than a castle with a moat around it! Amen!!!

  12. Thank you David for being a wonderful servant of God! I remember the first time I had a quick opportunity to meet you to say hello and to thank you for your work. You were here in Vernon BC for a stop over at one of the churches. I remember hearing you speak about your heart for the Aboriginal people, that was my prompting to get out of my seat and go to the front and say “thank you” as I am of Aboriginal decent. Thank you for 100 Huntley Street, I can’t say that enough because it was through watching your show I came to know Jesus out of the muck and the mire of drug addiction, and I’m sure there are countless more that people that are unspoken. The LORD gave me the desire of my heart a few years ago to travel to Israel, and there I was with your group… only God can arrange such things! May the LORD continue to bless you and may His light shine upon you and your family as they continue this legacy you are leaving them… to spread the good news of Jesus!
Sending you so much love, peace, strength and courage in prayer and faith of the One who came to save!
    Your sister in Christ
    Linda L. Price

    • God Bless you Linda. My son is currently struggling with addiction and I believe because of this resides many 100s of miles away from his parental home…
We also have an aboriginal background on my mother’s side…

God Bless you David and family. It has been a blessing to me following your faithful blog each and every day… My morning prayer time begins 5ish or so and have had you and 100 Huntley Street in my devotional for several years now… followed by your faithfilled blog…

      Blessings to all blog friends…

      • I’ll be praying for redemption from the addiction for your son, we have an amazing God who loves us! I also have a daughter who struggles with addiction. It’s when we can surrender our children to Him that we can find peace and healing for ourselves too! Bless you my friend! ❤️????

      • to David and Linda!
22 years ago a gal spoke these words over me WE HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT ENABLES US TO DO MORE THAN WE EVER DREAMT!

that was April l6/95; ten days later on April 26/95 I fell and broke my leg AND the Lord took that break and I learned to swim.

YOU HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT ENABLES YOU TO DO MORE THAN YOU EVER DREAMT!

speak the Lord’s Prayer daily! This prayer covers every aspect of God’s Life and our life. This prayer is a PROMISE from God Himself!
Claim the above words! speak them to yourself daily!
You can OVERCOME ANY AND ALL ADDICTIONS FOREVER AND EVER! GOD WALKS WITH EACH ONE OF US DAILY. HE PROMISES THAT HE WILL NEVER LEAVE NOR FORSAKE US!
You can and will be free from any and all bad habits! It is one day at a time; and thank the Lord for ALL HE HAS DONE IN YOUR LIFE! amen amen amen

    • God bless you, dear Linda, and thank you for sharing your testimony with us. You, too, about your son, David. I followed the same path as a teenager and it took me down such a winding road; it was God who saved me.

  13. I so enjoy your daily blog and look forward to it every morning.
When I see and hear all you have done over the years the Biblical passage comes to mind Matthew 25:21 ” His master replied, ‘well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Over the years you have demonstrated your faithfulness to our Lord on a daily basis and it is such a blessing to me.
I wish you well and lift you and your family up in pray. God bless.

I am realizing this morning, that here is a man who though weak in flesh at present, his spirit is so much stronger and more healthy than most I have ever known, and what a privilege it is to be part of his daily blog. Your Dad is perfectly named, as like King David, he is truly a man after God’s own heart. May the Lord be very close to you, Ron and Ann, and the entire family. We love you dearly and you are all in our prayers.

  20. Amen, Doreen. I’m drawn to Elijah/Elisha’s story in 2 Kings 2. Pastor David has been our Elisha whom we have joyfully followed because he has been true to God’s written Word, lovingly walking with Jesus and obediently following the Spirit’s leading. What a privilege for us to have such a man of God as a spiritual “blog buddie” … Amazing!!
Pastor David has drawn us into the very presence of our loving Father by his sincere prayers, which are truly son to Abba conversations. I am overhelmingly thankful to be part of this spiritual family blog.

We ask this in full assurance that You hear and answer our prayers. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised!

  25. David, you have been a faithful friend for many years. You came into my living room via T.V. every day back in 1989 when l became a believer. 30. Thank you,Ron,for the update and your devotion also.I suspected he was slowly getting weaker but only his body.I believe the Lord gave me this poem a few years ago.(He blessed me [[ I was very reluctant and not a fan of poetry]] with a ministry of poetry for grieving mothers for about 1 1/2 yr when I first came to the Lord on my knees in my livingroom. There can be no doubt it was Him and these moms knew it too.) I never knew if he read it.
I pray he will rebound again.Thank you David and all involved in this great ministry.God bless

Catch The Fire (4 David Mainse)

Though you have walked many oceans
And spread My word to many nations,
I saw in you and your devotions
    A servant of joyous exhalations.

You have not asked for earthly wealth,
But just to be my most humble voice
And when adversity was kept in stealth
You still worshiped Me out of free choice.

So out of free choice I give you
More time upon the stage of learning,
Whereby My word you show to be true
And catch the fire that’s forever burning.
    G W(Bill) Marshall / 01 February, 2014

This was an earlier 3rd person prayer:
    In The Blood (4 Pst.David Mainse )

I pray for healing in the blood,oh Lord,
I pray You will stretch out your hand,
That You,my Lord, with Your fiery sword,
Will show justice and not let evil stand.

    I know,my Lord,that Satan has cursed me
And that only you can remove this hex,
For it is you,Most High, that none can see,
Who can take any scourge from our necks.

So I pray for healing in the blood,my God,
That you allow me to serve you,
So as I spread your word all may laud,
The name of the Father in all we do.
