REMEMBER

Today’s Reading: Nehemiah 13

This olive tree is just outside the ancient city walls of the City of David in Jerusalem. Science has determined that olive trees can live and produce olives well over 2,000 years. Perhaps Jesus picked an olive from this tree’s branches.

Key Verse: Nehemiah 13:2b, 13:31b

Our God turned the curse into a blessing….Remember me, O my God, for good!

God takes any bad situation and turns it into good as we pray fervently about it, trust Him, and then make a full commitment to His will being done! He turns a curse into a blessing!

God does remember, but He does not remember our sins which we have confessed and for which we have been forgiven (Hebrews 8:10-13). A few days ago we were reminded that “a book of remembrance” is kept by God. Malachi was there in Nehemiah’s time and he wrote about that book. We can be sure God heard and answered Nehemiah’s prayer (Malachi 3:16-18).

Things were very different under the first covenant. Under the New Covenant (read Jeremiah 31:31-34) there are big changes. We start tomorrow, God willing, in the book of Colossians. We’ll learn that this church was coming under bondage to the rules and regulations of the Old Covenant, over-emphasis on the observance of sacred days, and religious forms and regulations. Let us not miss the next three days, and then we expect to begin our consideration of the book of Esther.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Thank You, Lord, that You have not shut the gates to any person anywhere at any time in these days of the New Covenant. You have invited me to come “boldly to Your throne of grace.” There I receive mercy and help in my time of need (Hebrews 4:14-16). I pray for grace to do this without fail every day. Lord Jesus, You are the Door by which we enter, and I pray these things in Your name, Amen! (John 10:7-10).

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I’m aware from the records that this blog has new readers. Therefore, I want to tell again about the most important thing that ever happened to me. I found that God did not shut the gates on me as Nehemiah did on the non-Jews during the Sabbath. I was 16 when I went forward at the invitation of an evangelist who was preaching in the Glebe Collegiate Auditorium in Ottawa. There, an elderly man gave me the sentence spoken by Jesus which turned my life around. He opened his Bible to John 6:37 and asked me to read it out loud to him. I read, “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” He said, “Now David (he had asked my name already), you have come to Jesus, right?” “Yes” I said. Then he asked me, “What does Jesus do?” I answered, “He receives me.” Immediately, the light in my spirit turned on. I knew that I was not rejected by God but accepted by Him. I believed this fact. The next day, in order to confirm what had happened to me, I walked down to the stream behind my sister’s house, where I was staying, and repeated that promise of Jesus over and over. I’ve never doubted since that time that this most unworthy sinner had been accepted by God into His eternal family.

Yours for assurance that in the New Covenant God does not shut the gates on anyone who comes to Him,

David

  1. Amen David! All we have to do is open the door, Jesus is knocking at the door of our hearts; Rev. 3:20, (seek a relationship with Jesus) and He unconditionally invites us into a relationship with Him; Exodus 34:6, Ephesians 3:14-21! This is the good news! Our severed relationship from God the Father, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God; Genesis 3, is repaired anytime, anyplace, anywhere! Praying for eyes to see and ears to hear Matthew 13: 15-17 and lives to be renewed in this beautiful promise!
Thank you David for you beautiful teaching and servant heart in sharing what Jesus has shared with you! May you be blessed, as you have blessed so many with 100 Words(+*), LOL*! May you be triumphant in the strength of Christ, giving Him all the glory for your victory! You are loved by this sister in Christ!

  2. Thank you, David, for your message, prayer, and testimony of receiving Jesus Christ as the Light and Lord of you life! “Remember me, O my God, for good! Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Wishing all saints a blessed day in the Lord.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope.

  3. I am so very blessed as I continue in our blog. Thank you Pastor David for your continued expoundng of The Lord’s Word to us each day? Praying for strength for you each day.

I have prayed for all the needs lately. I had to cancel my cat scan twice so far as I came down with a horrible virus, four weeks ago, which infected my sinus and ears, causing some hearing loss. Still battling the cough and weakness. Please pray I can go next Friday to have the test and that the suspicious find on my C3 cervical spine is not metastic disease. I am trusting God for good results.

I pray Sah and Ger will have success in getting their repairs done on their houses. My God is able. Blessings to fellow Saints.

    • Holding your healing up to the Lord our God, Jehovah Rapha, that you become stronger and healthier and have the MRI next Friday that reveals the lesion on your C3 is benign and not metastatic cancer, dear Catharine. Oh Lord, God, please bring Your mighty healing touch upon our dear sister-in-Christ and give her comfort assurance and rest. In Jesus’ precious Name, we pray. Amen, amen, and amen.

    • Catherine may God lead you through all the tests and they they will be negative! We praise the Name of Jesus over all illnesses; we praise and thank Jesus for all the healing of the entire body! We praise and thank the Lord for a clean bill of health!
TY Catherine for praying for Ger and myself regarding house repairs! God bless you abundantly! in Jesus name we Pray AMEN

  4. First, I would like to thank whoever it was that made sure the blog is in my Inbox daily. It has been there every day this last week! :-))
I am always happy to hear/read your salvation story again.
I didn’t comment yesterday, but wondered if there was disagreement about the songs and music way back in David’s day. I am thrilled that we have the Psalms.
    Psalm 63:7 & 8
    Because You are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
    My soul clings to You;
    Your right hand upholds me.

    • Hi Karen, yes there may have been some disagreements back in David’s time about the music, the words, the relationship between man and God!
I feel that things have not changed in that area even today! I also feel that we as human beings, we are sinful by nature, BUT God put a plan in place to redeem us of all our sins and inquities! PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!
We are forgiven daily! Each day we are new and God does not remember our sins, as far as the east is from the west, that is how GREAT IS HIS LOVE FOR ALL MANKIND! wow!

For me, the main story is that God who created this world and everything in it and made it perfect for us, He also became our Saviour!

That is one of the many blessings of this blog! We have the opportunity to share our ideas and feelings and opinions! Let us never loose this precious priviledge! A big thank to Crossroads Communication and to David Mainse for this daily blog of Good News!
May God bless each and every person on this blog; may He grant good health; great prosperity and great thankfulness to all
In Jesus Name we Pray amen

  5. Yes Pastor David…Jesus could have picked an olive from that tree’s branches!!

Great photo thank you Reynold…thank you for posting it!

Thank you Jesus for opening the door to the Throne room for us to enter into boldly!!!

  6. Please pray for rain! We need rain to put out the forest fires in British Columbia and in all other places where there are fires!
Pray for rain to put out the fires; pray for rain to give the firefighters a break!
They are exhausted; they need many more firefighters, may God provide and protect these people who fight the fires. In Jesus Name amen
