Key Verse: 2 Chronicles 22:12

And he (Joash) was hidden with them in the house of God for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land.

Jehu was carrying out judgment on the land. Ahaziah was caught and killed because, as they said, “He is the son of Jehoshaphat who sought the Lord with all his heart” (22:9). It seemed as if all the descendants of Jehoshaphat were to be slain, but into the picture stepped Jehoshabeth, the king’s daughter. She rescued Joash, then one year old, and hid him in the Temple. Six years later Joash was anointed king. The enemies of God will try to thwart God’s plan, but it was not God’s will for the righteous influence in the royal family to cease. God had prepared Jehoshabeth and Jehoiada, the high priest, to intervene. Joash was hidden in the Temple for six years.

We learn from this story of God’s love and His power to provide for His people. Sometimes we wonder how God could possibly make a way through a seemingly impossible situation. But He does! For a New Testament reading today, we may want to read about what would seem to be an impossible situation, the shipwreck of Acts 27:13-44.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I need to learn to be hidden in Your place of safety where the enemy cannot find me. I pray with King David, “Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You. When my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy” (Psalm 61:1-3). In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

This morning I’ve been singing two hymns, “Rock of Ages” and “Hiding in Thee.” The words of the first are, “Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee,” and the second are, “Hiding in Thee, hiding in Thee, thou blessed Rock of Ages, I’m hiding in Thee” (click here for a medley of these two beautiful hymns). There have been times when I had to hide from the pressures and influences of the world. One such occasion was when a sergeant of the Hamilton, Ontario, city police told me that the average age of the lawbreaker with whom they were dealing was just 12. My heart was broken for the children of our city. I withdrew to my bedroom for a week to fast and pray. Norma-Jean would bring me water and join me from time to time. Directly out of that time of hiding in God came our children’s television ministry, Circle Square, and out of those telecasts came the Circle Square Ranches, where over the years, approximately 250,000 children and teens have spent at least a week each. It’s estimated that around 100,000 of them made first-time decisions to give their lives to Jesus. This Summer I intend to “hide away” and spend much more time hiding in God’s presence. I turn 81 on August 13th, and I need to hear from God about the future!

Yours for hiding for a while,

David

  1. David,
    I’ve noticed you have no internal conviction. What ever is happening around you is your truth and if it is liberal you agree with it and reflect it.

    When the divorce rates went up you started to smile. I don’t know how many divorces you ordered.
    When by Proxy Lorna Dueck was proabortion and there was going to be a liberal abortion law you began to smile even more. And when you saw a liberal stance on homosexuality your smile was beaming.
    Where do you go when you die. A place that you believe in.

    Even though you get an F from God, all that matters to you is how great you feel and people calling you great.

    And the kicker is you don’t know how to take what I have written.

    Be Conservative
    Get Involved get other Conservatives involved.
    Especially with the new abortion law.
    1st position, abortion illegal 10 days after the 1st missed period.
    2nd position, abortion illegal 20 days after the 1st missed period
    After that no change in position, abortion illegal 20 days after the 1st missed period
    And pray that the abortion rate goes down a lot in Canada

    • Amen! Agreeing in prayer with you Beverlee that Paul would be deliver from this demonic spirit within him, in the Mighty Name of Jesus and in His authority I pray, Amen, amen and AMEN!!!

  2. David Continued,

    So if you believe in something speak up loud and often or we will never know what you believe in.

    With respect to the new abortion law, if abortion isn’t allowed in a community now
    that can stay the same.

  3. Paul, what you accuse David of is false. I have been part of this ministry since 1977 and I am a conservative – What he believes in and fights for is the complete opposite of your accusation
    God is Love
    vivian

  4. The only way the average Joe would know that is if he speaks loudly and often
    about it to the people of Canada. And that’s what he should do.

  5. And when he was host of 100 Huntley Street he didn’t speak loud and often about
    divorce, abortion and homosexuality being wrong. Then head of Huntley Street becomes Lorna Dueck who is a pro-abortion Trudeau lover.

    • Perhaps David didn’t speak up about sin when he was hosting Huntley Street, but he did preach the Gospel message, which help thousands of people to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior — and the Holy Spirit worked in those lives to change hearts away from their sin filled choices.

      You don’t have a clue how many unborn babies were saved by women accepting Christ through Huntley Street and they didn’t go through with the abortion they were planning or how many marriages were saved from divorce- or how many might have been lead from immoral lifestyles– It is God who changes hearts, not men.

      Even if God gave you your own program and you told people every day over and over how wrong abortion, homosexuality, divorce, lying, cursing, on and on and on is, because God hates all sin, not just a select few some focus on– and it won’t change a thing or cause one person to stop sinning.

      As Christians it is important we do speak out, but ultimately the way we can change society, is to win souls to Christ, so God himself can transform hearts–which David has done–

      God has obviously given you a great heart to save and protect the lives of the unborn, but you are mistaken if you believe because David hasn’t use his position and influence in the way you would, doesn’t mean God hasn’t used David to influence lives that helped the cause.

      I respect your passion, but telling people what they should do, just because you want them to do it, is not the best use of that passion. And the fact you have spoken so harshly without a ounce of love or respect to the ones you are trying to influence suggest, you might be a good conservative, but I wonder if you have given you life to Christ– if not, if you can confess you are sinner to Him and ask Jesus to live in your heart and He will. If you already know the Lord, then pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance to deal with any issues of self righteousness in your life.

      And everyone on the blog needs to pray for Paul, for our Lord to help him, to find a better way to use his great passion to protect those who cannot protect themselves than attacking other Christians — God bless you all

  6. All I can say is if he had spoken out loudly and often as I have mentioned
    Canada would have been a better place.

  7. He’s probably doesn’t proclaim and often because he is afraid the women won’t like it.
    Let’s face is Protestants allow divorce and more so now than ever.
    Next on the agenda, Protestants will allow abortion. etc.
    If you don’t proclaim and often all there is is hinting at the Gospel etc.
    It is weak and then next Protestants will allow homosexuality etc.
    I’ve said Eve didn’t go to the Tree of Life so don’t expect a women to be
    prolife and active about it with regards to a law.
    Laws effect behaviour so a strong law against abortion is good.

  8. Hi Paul
    I was shocked to see your comments – your unjust criticism, judgmental attitude and accusation. All I can say, God knows David & Norma-Jean’s heart, their entire lives of speaking out – not only in words – but in actions – 50 years of it that has changed thousands of lives – and our country – all by the power of the Holy Spirit, in the Name of our precious Saviour, and to the glory of God . Even today, after 4 years of battling with cancer, in physical weakness, but driven by the Spirit of God – he continues to have a deep burden and passion to see God’s will done on earth, soul’s saved, lives healed, broken hearts restored, and lonely troubled hearts going through difficulty, change, loss or pain – to be strengthened and encouraged.

    To accuse him of smiling in the face of abortion or evil – and that the new CEO of Crossroads is a partner in this – is not coming from the Lord “But is coming from the accuser of the brethren”.

    I would just caution you to re-consider what you are actually saying. It is definitely not from the Lord. Yes, our Lord does “convict us” and shows us what we need to do in the power of the Spirit…but never does the Lord come in “accusation” – that comes from the devil, the father of all lies.

  9. I feel sorry for Paul Treciokas! Such bitterness, and evil accusations against a loyal servant of the Lord will have to be answered to when he faces his Maker! Better to pour out his pain and whatever has caused it at the feet of Another, Who also bore false accusations — and died in the place of all who will accept Him.

  10. The people at Huntley Street should be more like Ian Paisley a respect Protestant
    Leader.
    Thanks,
    Paul
    You may think Ireland and Northern Ireland is behind the times but 30 years ago they had a better
    Gospel than Canada ever had. Down with U2.

  11. I’m getting bored now.
    Your Protestant Heritage was good but now you are serving up rice pudding
    instead of Rev. Ian Paisley.

  12. Father God
    I pray for Paul that you will help him show him a better way to use his passion , and
    ask you to come into his life , and forgive his sins.
    In Jesus name Amen

    I am going to see a concelor this week , and have not seen one in years. I am not sure how she can help me and my family please pray for me.
    Lianne Hogg

    • Praying for you, Lianne, dear sister-in-Christ. That the Lord will show you how to open up your heart in counseling and that it will help you and your family heal grow and prosper. In Jesus’ precious Name! Amen!

  13. Oh I didn’t realize, I wouldn’t have been so forceful if I have known.
    I have read the Apocrypha, don’t read 2 Esdras but in Sirach there are
    passages about being a good woman. I may be able to do a cut and paste into
    the email.
    Honor of parents

    1 Listen to me your father, O children;
    act accordingly, that you may be kept in safety.
    2 For the Lord honors a father above his children,
    and he confirms a mother’s right over her children.
    3 Those who honor their father atone for sins,
    4 and those who respect their mother are like those who lay
    up treasure.
    5 Those who honor their father will have joy in their own children,
    and when they pray they will be heard.
    6 Those who respect their father will have long life,
    and those who honor their mother obey the Lord;
    7 Those who fear the Lord honor their father;
    they will serve their parents as their masters.
    8 Honor your father by word and deed,
    that his blessing may come upon you.
    9 For a father’s blessing strengthens the houses of the children,
    but a mother’s curse uproots their foundations.
    10 Do not glorify yourself by dishonoring your father,
    for your father’s dishonor is no glory to you.
    11 The glory of one’s father is one’s own glory,
    and it is a disgrace for child ren not to respect their mother.
    12 My child, help your father in his old age,
    and do not grieve him as long as he lives;
    13 even if his mind fails, be patient with him;
    because you have all your faculties do not despise him.
    14 For kindness to a father will not be forgotten,
    and will be credited to you against your sins;
    15 in the day of your distress it will be remembered in your favor;
    like frost in fair weather, your sins will melt away.
    16 Whoever forsakes a father is like a blasphemer,
    and whoever angers a mother is cursed by the Lord.
    The good wife

    1 Happy is the husband of a good wife;
    the number of his days will be doubled.
    2 A loyal wife brings joy to her husband,
    and he will complete his years in peace.
    3 A good wife is a great blessing;
    she will be granted among the blessings of the man who
    fears the Lord.
    4 Whether rich or poor, his heart is content,
    and at all times his face is cheerful.
    Praise of the good wife

    13 A wife’s charm delights her husband,
    and her skill puts flesh on his bones.
    14 A silent wife is a gift from the Lord,
    and nothing is so precious as her self-discipline.
    15 A modest wife adds charm to charm,
    and no scales can weigh the value of her chastity.
    16 Like the sun rising in the heights of the Lord,
    so is the beauty of a good wife in her well-ordered home.
    17 Like the shining lamp on the holy lampstand,
    so is a beautiful face on a stately figure.
    18 Like golden pillars on silver bases,
    so are shapely legs and steadfast feet.

    It’s something to consider and Stay Conservative Please

    • You are the one in need of professional prayer, Paul. Please, please, seek help for yourself. In Jesus precious Name.

  15. DAVID, I admire you and all you stand for, you’ve meant so very much by your honorable way of living and loving all people for the glory of God! You carry much wisdom and honor. I’m so thankful for the good news you began so many years ago, and you have never, ever turned back from what the Lord has spoken to you. I’ve been watching and supporting your ministry since 1977.
    Happy Canada Weekend!!!

    P.S. I know you do not take broken people’s words against you into your heart. You know your identity in Christ, and model that for all others on this site. Thank you, for such an amazing walk with the Lord, David!

  16. Praying for you Lianne! TY for posting your request!

    Please pray the Lord will hand pick a good room mate for me! I have a vision of hearing someone mention that they cannot find a place to live because they have a sleep disorder, maybe, they work from say 7 p.m until 2 a.m. and upon hearing this conversation I would probably speak up and begin to ask questions such as what is the person expecting in the way of a place to live, and so on….
    I have a sleep disorder so I do understand and my place would be a good fit for someone HOWEVER I have asked the Lord to hand pick the right person!
    I have been greatly blessed; the Lord gave me a car completely free; gave me some wool for a project I am working on; and so on, and so on…I am so over whelmed with the Lord and His magnificent blessings…so thankful, in Jesus Name amen
    Yes it is the Holy Spirit that calls, gathers and enlightens us into the One True Faith, a person can do nothing to obtain Salvation, we simply empty our hearts and ask the Lord Jesus to enter in……
    blessings to everyone…..

  17. What an amazing man David Mainze is. He has had to face many people coming against him throughout the years, and again he is locking himself in with the Lord and fasting. We may get older, but God still has things for us to do, as long as there is life in us, He still has a plan for our lives. I just heard a speaker at the Pentecostal Camp this past Sunday, June 2nd and he said, “We don’t retire, we re-position ourself.” I have heard “We don’t retire, we refire!” We work smarter, not just harder. I miss hearing him like many years ago on the Huntley Street program, but I will pray that God continues to use him in ways we will see only when we all get to heaven! Love you, David and Norma Jean.
