Key Verse: Luke 6:12-13
Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles…
The word in the Hebrew language for disciple is “talmudim.” In Israel, even the little child who started school a few days ago is a “talmudim,” a student, a learner. We are Jesus’ students. What can we learn from today’s reading? (1) Is it possible that the religious leaders would rather have left the man in his crippled state? Before we condemn these guardians of religious rules and regulations, let’s be sure we cannot find ourselves in their midst. How often have we prevented the moving of the Holy Spirit because what was happening did not fit into our existing structures? On the Sabbath day, Jesus healed a man and allowed His disciples to harvest some grain. We must not allow a religious spirit to trump the freedom of the Holy Spirit to do all He desires to do. (2) After rejecting the rules of the Scribes and Pharisees, Jesus gives His rules. These are the really difficult rules. These rules can never be obeyed apart from the Holy Spirit in us and upon us. You may want to read these again…verses 27 to 38. Can we keep these commandments on our own? Think about it. Be a “talmudim.”
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord Jesus, for over three years You had “talmudim,” students under Your teaching. I am Your kindergarten pupil. Teach me today and empower me by Your Spirit to obey Your instructions. I ask these mercies in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
I’m painfully challenged by Jesus’ teaching and also His example. Before calling His apostles from among His disciples, He spent a night in prayer to God. How often I could’ve avoided poor decisions if I had spent more time in prayer. I’ve tried to take myself by the scruff of my neck and force myself to spend nights of prayer. Most times I have fallen asleep on my knees, but there were times when God the Holy Spirit moved so powerfully that I could not sleep if I tried. One was when President Jimmy Carter was at Camp David with President Anwar Sadat of Egypt and Prime Minister Begin of Israel. I can’t explain that night except for the empowering of the Holy Spirit on me to pray. Another time was when a precious baby was not expected to live the night. On both occasions God answered prayer with a “Yes.” Others were praying also, I’m sure, but I was part of a victory as a result of strong and prolonged prayer.
Yours for being students of the Teacher of teachers,
David
Dear David, Thank you for, yet again being amazing example!!
Amen, David! Praying on our hands and knees in prayer is the best example and we thank you for providing it for us, as we continue to pray for you! I have had many teachers who have exhibited the same. Thank You Jesus, for being our greatest teacher of all! We are so blessed to be Your talmudim!!! Nothing could be greater. Another splendid photo, Reynold, and great vlog, Ron–thank you, both! Wishing all saints a blessed day, in the Lord!
May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s;
But the earth He has given to the children of men.
But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.
Praise the Lord! Psalm 115:15-16, 18 NKJV

Thnx Eraine Braun for your suggestion yesterday. When on my computer, I just have to press the 1 key and 100words.ca shows up in my browser. So, it is an easy step…
Since beginning following this blog about 6 months after it’s creation, I have been saving each one in a separate file. I realize that is not necessary now as the blog allows one to search any previous date. But, because I started doing that, it has become a habit and now I can’t keep it up… as it no longer appears in my inbox.
So, it is time to accept that which I cannot change and move forward…
Have a great day blog friends and God Bless!
God has granted you, David, the serenity
to accept the things you cannot change;
courage to change the things you can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Thank you for sharing with us and may God continue to bless you and keep you full of love and grace. Amen! 🙂
P.S. Just tried it–typed 1 into the browser, 100words.ca came up, pressed enter and here I am on the blog! So cool and convenient! Yes, thank you Erain Braun for sharing that handy trick with us! Have a great day! 🙂

Blessings to all this glorious day!!!
Pastor David, I do not know of anyone who makes such a sacrifice in prayer as you and speak about it to others, but I know you would take no glory. Last Saturday night I was awake all night because I overdid it but the Lord gave me strength to speak the next day in church.
Am watching a real parade of heavy equipment across the road as it is potato harvest time; like six of them together. So it is harvest time spiritually as well. Like the idea of being a talmudim of the Great Teacher and your teaching as well David. Will keep you in prayer for your health.

Every single one of us are precious! There is no difference in the Eyes of God; it may all sound like this has been said all before and it has!!!!!! Coming before the throne of grace and praying for God to grant mercy to heal you, David. Oh, Lord, God, please hear our prayer and cover David with your precious blood and heal him and make him strong again. In the precious Name of Jesus. Amen, amen, and amen. If everyone could pray this prayer or a similar one for David, on hands and knees, tonight, before you go to sleep, it would be a blessing for him. Thank you saints of the Living God.
