Today’s Reading: Mark 15

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion on the right-hand side).

Here, I (Reynold) placed my Bible, open to Mark chapter 15, on the actual paving stones that Jesus would have walked on while carrying His cross. Through the centuries the city has been built up over the road, but the original stones can be seen in the lower area of the Sisters of Sion Convent.

Key Verse: Mark 15:38

Then the veil of the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

In our readings over the next few weeks, we will visit the books of Exodus and Leviticus. The origins of the “veil” are in these books. The “veil” was a symbol of the separation between a holy, all-powerful God and His sinful, weak people. Entrance to the Holy of Holies was restricted to once a year, when the High Priest would go beyond the veil to make atonement for the sins of the people. When Jesus died, the veil was torn open from top to bottom – from God to man – by an act of God. As a result, we can “COME BOLDLY BEFORE THE THRONE OF GRACE” (Hebrews 4:16). The Holy of Holies stood open, an invitation to all to approach the Throne of God through the blood of Jesus which He, as our High Priest, sprinkled on the Mercy Seat in Heaven. Please find the time today to read Hebrews chapters 9 & 10. Our minds will be illuminated and our hearts moved by a greater understanding of what happened in Heaven at the moment Jesus died here on earth.

Dear Heavenly Father, because of the torn veil, Jesus’ body, I come boldly into Your immediate Presence. Jesus’ death has made this possible. This is the greatest honour I could ever have. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I’m not asking for anything. I’m filled with awe as I soak in Your Presence. Amen! and Amen!

The photograph for today of “Gabatha,” the paving stones which formed the floor of the Roman Governor’s courtyard, bring a special memory to me. Norma-Jean and I first walked on these stones in 1968. Our guide for the convent was a Nun who was quite cold and distant. The next time we came, the same Sister was radiant and began to sing while standing on those stones, “He is Lord. He is Lord. He is risen from the dead and He is Lord.” I said to her, “What has happened to you? The last time we were here you were very formal, but you’ve changed.” She replied, “Oh, I know Him now.” There was a charismatic prayer meeting weekly for those who lived on the Via Dolorosa, and she had been born again and baptized with the Holy Spirit, speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gave her utterance (John 3:3-5 and Acts 2:4). An encounter with the Holy Spirit changes everything.

Yours for living in the immediate Presence of God,

  1. Soaking in your Presence, Lord! Oh, to walk on the stones where the feet of our precious Jesus, carried His cross! How we praise You, Lord, King above all Kings–the one and only true Messiah–our Redeemer. We call to You our own with love and thanksgiving. Oh, how we adore You, Jesus, our Saviour! Blessings dearest saints, as we gather to worship Him, this Sunday.

“Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” Hebrews 10:7 KJV

    Soaking Worship Prayer–“Resting!–WOW!

    • thank you so much for your prayers! I do hope and pray that God will turn this into a profitable small business for me. I desire to pay down my loan and I am trusting God to provide the means to do so and the people who will buy the dishcloths. thanks again…….

  2. Dear Rev. Mainse,

    Please note,
As mentioned the Earliest of Church Manuals says no abortion or infanticide.
This ties into Jesus’ fertility message of Life. It is important to prepare and be proactive with respect to the Liberal abortion legislation consultation. By reducing the duration of pregnancy when an abortion can be done.

    God Bless

    • I may have this abortion issue all wrong!
Firstly, I am of the opinion that young people from the age of 10 need to be brought together in classes where their sexuality, sex and marriage, diseases, addictions; can be discussed and the truth be told to these young people about being informed on decisions they make in the heat of the moment and how these decisions can affect the rest of their life….
Very young people need to be involved with a group and good leaders to explain how God created man and woman and how He gave instructions on how to conduct ourselves and also these young people need to know the risks involved when engaging in sex before marriage..
I am of the opinion that courses on Sex education should be taught starting at a very early age for both boys and girls! I would like to see these classes taught separatetly to the boys and girls, and there should be emphasis on the sincerety and wisdom of these classes and that these classes contain considerable information that will affect a child for the reest of their life!
I find it unbelievable that no one seems to tell young people that having sex before marriage can result in a baby on the way and that abortion is killing a human being! It is not a form of birth control…!!!!.
Who should teach these courses! Anyone who has the proper qualifications to teach Sex Education would be acceptable. I do believe that a female teaches girls and a male teaches the boys! There could be a time where both groups are brought together to begin to talk about issues involving sex, marriage, drugs, addictions!
I am also puzzled that young girls who are pregnant do not seem to receive the proper prenatal care…..
In my time I received all the medical care I needed, I did not have a husband, adoption was discussed, Yes I was pretty ignorant about life, and also I believed guy when he said I love you! I believed we would marry!
I don’t know what will happen on the abortion! I feel so sorrowful knowing that many are performed to end the pregnancy!
Maybe those who have money would consider hiring a counsellor, perhaps a Christian, who could teach classes after school on how to deal with sex and marriage and diseases and addictions….
I don’t know the answer but we do need to pray to God for guidance!
The other very sad part of this issues is that decisions made by some young people years ago are bothering them very much to this day and has resulted in abuse of alcohol and other drugs!
May God give us wisdeom and mercy…….I don’t believe that governments should be making decisions involving abortion but they should be funding courses in this area!

  3. Thanks for this blog. I read it everyday. It was nice meeting you today, you have made such an impact on my walk with Jesus. You are truly a man of God and the work you do brings others into His Kingdom. Bless You! Thanks for visiting YesChurch with your lovely wife.

  4. Amen. Thank you Jesus that we can come boldly before the Throne of Grace because of the shedding of your precious blood. Like the story of the nun who had a heart change in Israel and would be a good illustration for my sermon on the effect of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Praying much success in your sales Sah. God bless all.

  5. What a powerful message this morning…What a powerful prayer Pastor David…I prayed it too.

Your words of wisdom stood out for me…I’ve read and known that the veil was torn from top to bottom and that it was too thick to be done other than miraculously…but your comments brought out more meaning with these words …”God to man” an Act of God …”the Holy of Hollies stood open…an invitation to all to approach the throne of God through the blood of Jesus our High Priest…sprinkled on the Mercy seat in heaven.” Thank you Pastor
    David….THANK YOU LORD!!
Your suggestion to read Hebrews 9 and 10…of which I felt this few scriptures gave even more meaning to this morning’s power manna:

Hebrews 10:7 “Here I AM LORD to do YOUR WILL, MY GOD!!!

Hebrews :10:14 “for by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”
10:15 “The Holy Spirit also testifies to us and says: (10:16) “This is the Covenant I will make with them after that time, says The Lord . I will put My Laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
10:17 Then He adds, their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
10:18 “And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for them is no longer necessary.”
