Today’s Reading: Genesis 20-21

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

One of the many stone covered walkways in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Key Verses: Genesis 21:2-3

For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.

Abraham named the baby Isaac, which means, “laughter,” for good reasons. (1) When Abraham was promised by God that he would have a son with his wife, Sarah, Abraham “fell on his face and laughed” (Gen. 17:17). (2) When Sarah heard the promise of God she laughed also, but it was a different laugh. Abraham laughed for joy and Sarah laughed because of unbelief (Gen. 18:12). (3) The promise, of which Isaac was the heir, has become a cause for laughter as an expression of joy down through the ages. Isaac was born “at the set time.” God is rarely early in fulfilling His promises, but He is never late! God is punctual. His promised mercies may not come on our schedule. They will come in His timing. “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord, I heard that someone prayed, “Dear Lord, give me patience, and please hurry up!” That thought brings me laughter, and that’s okay with You. I pray that Your joy will fill my heart. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I make sure I watch the 100 Huntley Street telecast every day. Even if I’m not near a TV set, I can watch it on the internet at www.100huntley.com. I pay close attention to every word spoken, to the body language, and to the visuals shown. You see, these television productions were promised to Norma-Jean and me years ago. My wife had the vision of a continent-wide TV ministry before I did. I laughed at her definite statement. I had unbelief, but God did it anyway. There we were, in a small congregation in a small village. How could this ever be? I look back now and marvel at the plan and grace of God. If you want to see what God has done over 54 years, click here and browse around the website. Now I laugh for joy realizing that God has done “more than we could ever ask or think according to the power that works within us” (Ephesians 3:20).

Yours with joyful laughter,

David

    • I agree with you Eleanor. I am looking forward to see and hear Lorna again. She is an amazing woman and I feel God have her this position for this time.
Pastor David, thank you again and again for the wonderful example you are to all of us. Blessings to all, Eleanor M.

  1. Our God is a God of miracles. Sarah who was barren, who never had a child, would become fertile at her advanced age. The same Lord that would breathe new life into a dead Lazarus at the grave would also give new to Sarah’s womb that it might be fertile to bring forth a son Isaac for Abraham. Our God is truly the God that brings forth life when all hope is lost, who brings forth joy and laughter in the midst of darkness, and who brings forth saving grace to that which was deemed lost and hopeless. In God’s family there’s hope and miracles, we need only to believe on His son Jesus to be a part of this great family today.

  2. WOW!

I have just spent some time browsing the website and was impressed with Lorna’s unique qualifications, as well as your own bio with your many incredible accomplishments.

The suggested synergies are most welcome I feel.

Thank you for continuing with this blog.

    Shalom,
    Graham.

  3. Thank you for being such an obedience child to the Living God who is faithful to us all as His children.

Thanks God for vision and dreams and thank God that Norma-Jean listen to God’s voice and obey what God wants to do in Canada through this amazing ministry.

Bless you and pray for you.

    In His name, Theresa

  4. What a great informative, faith filled, and even entertaining message again today ! Thanks David. Greatly enjoyed the “54 years accomplishment ” clip. I praise God for Lorna’s acceptance ( for lack of better word ) to become CEO of that great ministry. God bless her . That is, continue. blessing her.

Laughing joyfully about reaching the world is good for you David, as we know that you also have lived what Hagar lived in the desert. Thank God that he had answers and blessings stored up for you.

August coming up making you ” a special milestone birthday boy “. Same month, same milestone for one of my sisters.

  5. Looking forward to what the Lord has in the days ahead for Crossroads Communications and Yes TV with Lorna Dueck at the helm: You,
Pastor David and your family laid a good foundation in obedience to the Lord’s guidance for His Word to go out into all the world: One on which a solid future can continue to be built to Glorify and honor Our LORD JESUS CHRIST!!
Your continued labor and desire for souls through this daily manna and all you do for HIS GLORY, I trust and believe, will not go unnoticed in God’s eyes. God Bless you and keep you and your family in the PALM OF HIS HAND ALWAYS. Amen!
