Today’s Reading: Matthew 24

A watchman stands on the wall in “Nazareth Village” …a special attraction in modern-day Nazareth that re-enacts life from first-century Nazareth.

Key Verse: Matthew 24:42

Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour our Lord is coming.

This chapter contains one of the most detailed descriptions of events that lead up to the second coming of Jesus. Jesus even gives us a copy of His statement to the world immediately after His return. World leaders and reporters are anticipating those first Words. They are, “I was hungry and you gave me food,” and so on. They ask, “When?” He answers, “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it unto Me.” How important is this, visiting the sick and the prisoners? You decide! Obedience to Christ is “watching.” What will you do today to “watch?” Reading the Word is watching. Daily prayer is watching. Be ready!

Lord Jesus, please grant me Your amazing grace to live constantly expecting Your return. May I show my expectation by my service to You and by serving others. Amen!

My wife, Norma-Jean, reminds me every day, “Jesus may come today!” Throughout the years in the leadership of an international ministry, when it came to establishing the budget, I would ask the team for their spending estimates. I required them to categorize all their needs under three categories – “Absolutely essential” (without these needs the ministry would die), “Essential” and “Necessary.” If funds were not there we would cut the “Necessary.” If still the money was not there we would cut the “Essential.” Please join me now in deciding what is “Absolutely essential” in that most practical matter of “Watching” for His return. Don’t be deceived by date setters. Jesus said, “Only the Father knows.” For what and for whom should we watch? Thoughtful Biblical answers to that question can be found in a series of teachings from the 100 Huntley Street telecast when the guest was Dr. Mark Hitchcock, a pastor who was a practicing attorney before entering the ministry. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the Dallas Theological Seminary. I would encourage you to watch some of his short teachings on Bible prophecy by clicking HERE.

Yours for watching and serving Christ today,

P.S. Can I ask a favour? If you think that my daily blog would be a blessing to a friend or family member, please email to them the link or perhaps post it on your Facebook wall. Thanks for helping to spread the Word!

  1. Jesus could return today. I don’t spend a lot of time of prophecy for there’s always some Harold Camping around the corner willing to pin down the exact day when Jesus will return by his own particular brand of interpretation. Rather, Jesus tells in Mt. 24:36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” So let’s not be deceived by others, but rather be ready and be aware of the times and the distinct possibility as outlined in the Bible, that Jesus could return at any time. This is not something to loath and fear as a believer, it just means that everything has come to completion and we’re going home. It’s quite a paradox, for it will be a horrible day of reckoning for many and for others a joyous day of celebration. Are we ready? Are we prepared? We certainly want to be when He comes.

  2. Waiting for You to come, Lord Jesus. Waiting for You to come. Bless you dear David and Norma-Jean and fellow saints in the Lord.

And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.

    In The Blood (4 Pst.David Mainse )

I pray for healing in the blood,oh Lord,
I pray You will stretch out your hand,
That You,my Lord, with Your fiery sword,
Will show justice and not let evil stand.

    I know,my Lord,that Satan has cursed me
And that only you can remove this hex,
For it is you,Most High, that none can see,
Who can take any scourge from our necks.

So I pray for healing in the blood,my God,
That you allow me to serve you,
So as I spread your word all may laud,
The name of the Father in all we do.

12 No one has ever seen God. But
if we love each other, God lives in us.
If we love each other, God’s love has
reached its goal—it is made perfect
in us. 1 John 4:12 (ERV)

Catch The Fire (4 David Mainse)

Though you have walked many oceans
And spread My word to many nations,
I saw in you and your devotions
    A servant of joyous exhalations.

You have not asked for earthly wealth,
But just to be my most humble voice
And when adversity was kept in stealth
You still worshiped Me out of free choice.

So out of free choice I give you
More time upon the stage of learning,
Whereby My word you show to be true
And catch the fire that’s forever burning.

  8. I just completed “How To Forgive your Children” by Quin Sherrer and Ruthanne Garlock, this week, and it has unleashed a mighty wave in me, this afternoon. Thanking and praising You God, for the breakthrough of pages in writing that have just been released in me. You are an amazing God and I give You all the thanks and praise. It is You, through whom all blessings flow. In Jesus’ mighty Name, amen, amen, and amen!

Love is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; IT TAKES NO ACCOUNT OF THE EVIL DONE TO IT {IT PAYS NO ATTENTION TO A SUFFERED WRONG].” 1 Cor 13:5 Amplified Bible – Lockman
