Key Verse: Matthew 22:29

Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God…”

There are different denominations in Christianity. There are also denominations in Judaism. The Pharisees were the traditionalists who had added much to the Scriptures. Jesus said that they had made the Word of God ineffective by their traditions (Matthew 15:6). The Sadducees were another group. They practiced Judaism’s rituals but did not believe in Biblical truths such as miracles, and in particular, they denied the resurrection of the dead. Jesus was not with either group. He calls His followers to KNOW THE SCRIPTURES and to KNOW THE POWER OF GOD.

Lord Jesus, I pray for the discipline of daily reading and studying the Scriptures. I also pray that I will know Your power. You promised that, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8). My heart is wide open to receive Your Holy Spirit. In Your Name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen!

Every morning I spend time reading and studying God’s Word. I ask and believe God to speak to me through my reading. God speaks first. I get to know the Scriptures. Then it’s my turn to speak. I pray for understanding of what I’ve read. I pray for my wife, my children, grandchildren and my great-grandchildren by name, and circumstance. I then pray for all others whose needs I am aware of. I pray for all you who read this blog that you will know the Scriptures and the power of God. I pray specifically for all by name who lead in the Church and in the various ministries of which I am aware. Then I spend time in worship, so that I may soak in God’s presence. Thank you very much for doing me the honour of joining me in this two year journey through the Bible.

Praying for you,

P.S. Yesterday I shared a picture of our 1977-1992 building located at the 100 Huntley Street address in Toronto. When our lease concluded, I searched in vain for another building in Toronto to rent, but it was not to be. Therefore, we moved a few miles down the QEW highway (Queen Elizabeth Way) to the western tip of Lake Ontario at Burlington, where, by God’s grace and the support of God’s people, we built the Crossroads Centre. For 24 years now “Day unto day,” and “Night unto night” the Word of the Lord has gone forth from this building. The support of people who care about the cause of Christ continues. I consider Crossroads Christian Communications Incorporated to be an absolutely essential service for the cause of Christ. Wonderful people who work in this building have helped me develop and maintain this daily blog. Thank You Lord! Thank You everyone!

  1. thank you for sharing about 100 Huntley Street. We are so grateful for all you and the people who make this ministry possible for all world to hear the word of God. Especially thank you for your daily blog. This is such a precious time of morning reading God’s word preparing for the day ahead, and so much appreciate your time getting this out to us. God Bless you and thank you.

  2. I think that one of the big questions that any CEO or board member of a business corporation has to ask is …. are we hitting profit margins? is the product effective? is our plan working? is our product sustainable? are we economically healthy moving forward? If the answer is “no” to any of these questions, the company then needs to take a good look at what it’s doing and change direction if it plans to stay relevant or to continue to be in business.

The Church is not a business, it operates on God’s principles and is guided by the Holy Spirit. However, I think the Church needs plans too, it needs prayer, willing hands, funds and goals to reach the lost and to fulfill the great-commission. The Church universal has changed, the way it communicates has changed, we live in an electronic digital age, those who won’t don’t or can’t change, will lag behind unfortunately, Crossroads Ministries is current, it’s at the cutting-edge of how we might reach this lost world in this digital age. Think on how it may be worthy of your time, prayer, money and resources in this new era of communication going forward.

  3. We are called to know the scriptures and the power of God. Amen. Yes, You are the God of the living, and we give You all the praise and honour and glory that is due. You are the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, the great Jehovah Jireh, the Prince of Peace. We are nothing without You and everything with You. Where would we be without Your love mercy and saving grace? We thank You, Lord, for the blessings you bestow upon us. Thank you David for your 100 words and prayer, this morning. Blessings, fellow saints, in the Lord.

“Just where you stand in the conflict,
    There is your place.
Just where you think you are useless,
    Hide not your face,
God placed you there for a purpose,
    Whatever it be;
Think He has chosen you for it –
    Work loyally.
Gird on your armor! Be faithful
    At toil or rest:
    Whichever it be, never doubting,
    God’s way is best.
Out in the fight or on picket,
    Stand firm and true;
This is the work which your Master
    Gives you to do.”

    • Amen! Beverlee Kay.
Thank you for sharing that inspiring poem,”YOUR PLACE”.
Honoured to know others are praying for us.
May God bless everyone involved with this blog, in Jesus name, Amen!

  5. Many thanks to you,David and may God bless
(I try never to put a ” . ” (a period) after “bless” because a period suggest finality and God’s blessings are infinite.)
    The Secret (Seeds Of Peace)

May seeds of peace find a home in your heart,
May forgiveness help mend each broken part,
For you are worthy when the last sunset falls
To cross that bridge when the trumpet calls.
So be not of sorrow for those gone ahead,
They are more happy than we who are dead,
For most of us fail to learn how to live,
The secret is to open your heart and just give,
For this is the way our Savior had taught,
But through Satan’s lies,His words we forgot,
So as time grows shorter we must reawaken,
To remind the world of His love forsaken.

  6. Thank you David for this blog and your prayers. It was a real highlight of my life for my Mother and I to attend the opening of the Crossroads Center in Burlington and have some good photos of the event. It is also my desire to know the Scriptures and the power of God. The Lord is so good!

  7. Thank you Beverlee and Bill for your poems and song. What I needed to hear. Blessings all fellow saints!

  8. I praise God for having the opportunity I had to worship with you in the Toronto building in the early 80’s and then in the building in Burlington, Ont. in the mid 90’s. In Burlington, my sister and I were there after her husband passed away suddenly. What a blessing!!

“Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” Ps.119:105

John 14:26 Jesus said: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom The Father will send in My Name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whosoever I have said unto you”.

“Leaning on Your everlasting arms, Heavenly Father…thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit…Thank You Jesus that You live in me, Thank You Holy Spirit for guiding and teaching me all things. Open my eyes to see and my ears to hear, fill my heart with Your Love, I pray that other will know that You live!! Amen!!
