QUIETNESS & CONFIDENCE

Today’s Reading: Isaiah 30-31

A series of public ritual purification baths (mikvot) were found on the south side of the Temple Mount. Because of the demanding laws regarding purity before entering holy places, the need for mikvots was high, and many have been discovered from 1st century Jerusalem. Larger ritual baths such as this one have a small divider wall called a “parapet” that separates the entrance steps from the exit steps, so that a person already cleansed (coming out) would not touch an “unclean” person (going in). I pray that 100words.ca will be a washing for each reader in preparation for a daily and constant experience of God’s holy Presence. “The washing of water by the Word” (Ephesians 5:26b).

Key Verse: Isaiah 30:15

For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:

“In returning and rest you shall be saved;

In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”

But you would not…

As we move on into the New Year, let us “rest” in “quietness and confidence.” The secret of this “strength” is just the opposite to the frantic efforts of Isaiah’s contemporaries. We take counsel daily from God by reading His Words to us. We ask the Spirit of God to reveal to us the plans the Lord has for us. He doesn’t do this like a daily appointment calendar, but as the day unfolds He guides us step by step. Sometimes we need to just sit still while we wait for God. The Scripture tells us to “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Let’s all read Jeremiah 29:11-13, and in Matthew 11:25-30 we have Jesus’ recipe for rest.

Isaiah clearly points out that God did not need the horses and chariots of Egypt to protect His people. The Lord had spoken to Isaiah, assuring him of protection (31:4-5). God is watching over him and His people as a roaring, vicious lion, and as a bird watching over her nest to protect her chicks! Therefore, let the minutes, days, hours, weeks, and months of the New Year proceed. As Zechariah 4:6 says, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Quiet my spirit, O Lord, I pray. I rest in the sure knowledge of Your full protection. My confidence is completely in You. I’m praying now, Lord, the “Our Father” prayer which Jesus taught as a model prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

While resting in God’s plans for my life, I’m obeying Him in the care of my body as God’s Word instructs me. This present hospital stay is part of caring for my body. I confess that I have not cared for my body as I should have through the years. That’s probably the reason why I have the physical problems I have. Therefore, with God’s help, I intend to change. Together we’ll succeed in healing and strengthening our “Temples of the Holy Spirit,” our bodies. I feel well and Norma-Jean is scheduled to bring me home on Monday. I ask an ongoing interest in your prayers.

Yours for rest, confidence, good nutritious food, and all God’s blessings,

David

  7. Praising God for you Pastor David and even in adversity your faithfulness in sending out our daily manna.

    Heavenly Father thank You for Pastor David. As he goes home on Monday we know Your Spirit goes with him and lead his steps daily as he recovers. May he sense your strong arms around him. Bless him, Norma-Jean and the entire family.

    Blessings to my blog saints today.

    Bravo Beverlee for your swim the other day!

    I covet all of your prayers as I have not fully recovered from severe vertigo and see specialist tomorrow. Resting in my Saviour’s arms nowhere else I’d rather be.

    • Thank you, dear Catherine. Lord, we lift our sister-in-Christ up to you, for healing of the vertigo she has been experiencing. Direct the specialist she sees, tomorrow, to diagnose and treat her condition, and bring about complete health and wellness. Renew her with Your mighty energy, in Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen, amen, and amen.

  8. Have you tried Black seed tea? (Nigella Sativa is the Latin name) it is very good for many health ailments including fighting cancer….you can get black seed on amazon or the tea from Asian grocery stores. To use it you need to boil the tea for 5 minutes, or if using the seed, roast it or stir-fry it (If you don’t it will give you painful indigestion!)
    It works best when mixed with unpasteurized honey.
    Adding my prayers for your health!

  9. God is continuing to give you David and Norma-Jean strength for each day and continue his healing process in your life David. God’s Word says, “as thy days, so shall thy strength be..the eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will trust out the enemy from before you! and will say, ‘Destroy” Deut. 33:25b, 27. “O God, continue to destroy every bad cell or that which robs him of health and vitality and flow through his body with the presence of your Holy Spirit according to your Word that is also a prayer chorus, “If that Same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, dwell in you, dwell in you; if that Same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, dwell in you…dwell…in….you. It shall quicken (make alive) your mortal body (physical) IF that Spirit dwell in you”. Based on Romans 8:11. I often sing this little chorus using the personal pronoun, “dwell in ME”. Wow! just think of it. God is talking about His Resurrection Power. The same dynamic power that raised Christ from the dead. The same ‘Resurrection Power” is dynamically at work in our physical body. When I go for walks I have a simple prayer, “Lord, if you take me, I am ready to go; but if you still have a work for me to, I am happy to stay. I am in your hands whether I go or stay and pray, ‘Flow through my soul and redeem its desert places and plant a garden there for the Lord I adore”. We are in the Potter’s Hands. He is perfecting us. I am resting in his love and care.

    A beautiful prayer song:
    “When shall I come into the healing waters?
    Lifting my heart, I cry to Thee my prayer.
    Spirit of peace, my Comforter and Healer,
    In whom my springs are found, let my soul meet Thee there.

    Chorus
    From a hill I know, Healing waters flow;
    O rise, Immanuel’s tide, And my soul overflow!

    Wash from my hands the dust of earthly striving,
    Take from my mind the stress of secret fear;
    Cleanse Thou the wounds from all but Thee for hidden,
    And when the waters flow let my healing appear.

    Light, life and love are in tht healing fountain.
    All I require to cleanse me and restore,
    Flow through my soul, redeem its desert places,
    And make a garden there for the Lord I adore.”

    “O God, may your perfect plan continue to unfold in each one of our lives”
    Blessings to all. Samuel

  10. Lord, thank you for the healing you are doing in David’s body. Thank you for the blessing he is to all of us and thankyou for Your word and how You are using David and his family to encourage us and bring heaven to earth. Love you Jesus. Amen

  17. beginning of Dec/14 I heard of a friend going on a study tour in March/2016 based on Hebrews 4, Rest…..

    I find it incredible since that time the word rest has appreared many times by .Mr. Mainse or bloggers, and today is no exception!

    a few days ago the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said that my sleep pattern changed because God wanted me to rest!
    I also live around a mental illness, bi polar! That is an interesting complex illness and then the sleep pattern changed in Nov 2014…..I do appreciate the rest I get from sleep, and God has assured me that He understands that I like to do alot of things either at the church or at home and I had to adjust my schedule….and again, it sounds odd…I feel at peace
    I am so thankful David Mainse will be coming home on Monday,. Thank you Lord.
    I also am thankful that my Pastor who had a pace maker put in Dec 26 is at home and is doing well, his wife has had 3 surgeries since middle of October and she is also doing very well, again, Pastor had no choice when he arrived home he had to rest and he admits he feels much better.
    sometimes guys seem to think they can continue on as usual after they have had surgery, and, they need rest, so we pray for David Mainse, My Pastor, and all men, to take time to rest, the work will be there tomorrow!

    • Thank you Lord for keeping me safe as I cleaned the ice off the pipes! I had to use the ladder, placed it carefully and got the work done! Thank you! I pray that I watch it closely and remove any ice before it has a chance to build up!
      I prayMyrna will hear of someone who has a passion for interior decorating and perhaps can help me! Thank you God!

  18. Thank you Pastor David that i can listen &follow the scriptures! I recieve much more out of them.That has kept me coming back for more!Are keeping you &100st family in our prayers.Thank you for your commitment!

  19. Dear David and Norma Jean, I give thanks to our Heavenly Father that He has answered the many, many prayers for you, David. So happy that you are going home tomorrow . I pray strength and health will return to you quickly. It is incredible that you blog each day no matter how sick you are feeling. The Lord gives you the strength to do so I am sure. He knows how important your blog is to help Christians in their walk and to bring new ones into the Kingdom. I pray for you, too, Norma Jean always. You both have been mentors to me for all the years I have been a member of “100 Huntley Street”, God Bless you both and all the members of the Maines Family.
