A MIRACLE AND MEDICATION TOO

Today’s Reading: 2 Kings 20-21

These ruins are located about 100 metres south of Hezekiah’s Tunnel. In the summer of 2004, these remains were discovered of a very large pool from the Second Temple period. It proved to be the Pool of Siloam. Nearby, archaeologists uncovered the remains of a stepped street (photo at bottom of page), the path taken by pilgrims ascending from the pool to the Temple Mount. Beneath the paving stones of the street they found a drainage channel that apparently served as a hiding place for the last Jewish rebels against the Romans in the year 70 AD. The pool ceased to function after the destruction of Jerusalem and, over time, filled with earth and disappeared from sight.

Key Verse: 2 Kings 20:4b-5

The Word of the Lord came to him saying, “Return and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people,Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father; I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you.”

God added 15 more years to Hezekiah’s life by a combination of divine healing and medicine. Isaiah prescribed a poultice, which was to be placed on Hezekiah’s boil in order to draw out the poison that was in his system. God works in our time also through this combination of prayer along with the best medical care, with which we are blessed. God hears and answers prayer! Just as God heard Hezikiah’s prayers for deliverance from the Assyrians, God hears and answers prayer today. Do we have need for God’s intervention? Yes! Yes! God will hear our fervent prayers. That does not mean that God will always do just as we ask; He knows better than we do. Our faith is best expressed in obedience to do as He has told us. We pray, believe him for His perfect will, and the rest is up to Him. Pray! Obey! Read James 5:13-18. Then God will do what God will do!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I pray for others (name them) and for myself as Hezekiah prayed, “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” Thank You, Lord, that You are hearing my prayer. I know Your decisions are on the way. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I know from personal experience that God hears and answers prayer. As a result of God’s healing power, combined with the medical skills of the doctors and nurses, He has already added 60 more years to my life than the doctors predicted when I was 19 years old. The students in the Bible College in Peterborough, Ontario, went into a time of fervent prayer on my behalf, and two of the ministers/teachers anointed me with oil, laid hands on my head, and prayed in the Name of Jesus for my healing. God heard and said, “Yes!” The doctors then did surgery to correct the problem which had caused my illness in the first place.

P.S. Yesterday, Ron and Ann, our son and daughter-in-love, hosted a 3-hour TV special on “God TV,” which originated live from the spot in the Jordan River where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. I had the honour to baptize a number of the wonderful people who are travelling with us here in Israel (photo below). Watch for highlights from Israel of the Empowered 21 Global Congress events on 100 Huntley Street during the week of June 8th.

Just after baptizing 89-year-old Larry Burgess from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. We are on the Israel side of Jordan. The reeds you see are in the Kingdom of Jordan. So much river water is used for irrigation that the river is much smaller than in Bible times.

This is when I joined Ann and Ron during the live production from the Jordan River yesterday! We showed an old photo of my parents in this same location 90 years ago! (see photo below).

This is the bottom end of the stepped road and drainage channel, known as the Path of Pilgrims. In this area was a stone-paved plaza from the Second Temple period that served as a promenade for visitors to the Pool of Siloam. The promenade’s roof was supported by a row of stone columns, parts of which have been found at the site.

  1. My original poem from my Facebook page: Witness Stand
( have a Blessed time with the saints in your churches today in God’s Presence )

    NICODEMUS

    Secretly following this man
    Who was stirring this Nation
    with incredible healings
    and His talk of Salvation…

I was at odds with my brothers
    ( Pharisees all together )
    and we desperately sought,
how this storm we could weather !

The crowds did not heed us
    and gathered around Him;
    This ‘prophet’ of Galilee
    whose life was astounding

    My life was in turmoil;
    Law and reason had fled,
and my heart was now drawn
    To this Rabbi instead.

    Though this Council I ruled;
    I stayed mostly quiet,
    for my brothers were raging
and were almost in riot !

    They’d wanted to seize Him
    and my guidance did seek,
but I said, “Let’s not judge Him
till we all hear Him speak”

    “Nicodemus, you’re just like Him,
are you from the same place ?
    Do you grant Him permission
    our Laws to replace?

    If only they knew that
in the dead of the night,
I’d sought out this Rabbi ..
My beliefs in full flight !

    “I know that your signs
    declare you’re from God.
    Your feet with His Presence
and Peace have been shod !”

    He looked at me gently
    and said, “It’s from Men
we are born once in flesh
and must be Born Again “

    “Most surely my friend
    I’m declaring God’s Plan:
    To enter His Kingdom
needs a birth NOT from Man.”

    “The Spirit of God
    brings birth from Above.
    It’s wholly beyond
    the designs of Man’s love”

“With new eyes you will see
and with new ears, you’ll hear,
    the things of God’s Kingdom
as your heart then draws near.”

    “I speak of the things
    that the Father has shown.
    ..You’re a Teacher in Israel,
    but know NOT God’s throne ! ”

    “The Son came to Save;
    NOT to bring Condemnation.
    To win by His love;
    Eternal Salvation “

“ The Light, it has come.
    Forsake shadows and night !
    Walk in Newness of Life,
And enjoy REAL birthright ! “

    Indeed, I obeyed Him
    And witnessed His death
on a cross for our sins:
    He’d surrendered His breath.

The last thing I could do
    ( and it wasn’t so brave )
    was anoint His dead body
which we bore to the grave.

    A disciple named Joseph
    who owned a new tomb
    lay Jesus within it
and we left in deep gloom.

Three days later He rose up
    Defeating Sin’s Blight
    and brought to me memories
of that talk in the night.

Will you now join this family
    who are bonded in Love
of our God, who can Birth
    Us Again from Above ?

( Based on the Gospel of John: Chapter 3, verses 1-21; Chapter 7, verses 50-52
    and Chapter 19, verses 38-42 )

  2. Father God I pray for healing in my shoulders , arms and that you will take away
my seizures if you choose a miracle that would be fine with me. I know you work
through doctors as well, and if it is not on earth then in heaven. I pray though
it will be here and believe you will do this.

    • David’s prayer: Lord God, I pray for healing for Lianne and myself as Hezekiah prayed, “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” Thank You, Lord, that You are hearing my prayer. I know Your decisions are on the way. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!

My dad used to recite this poem to us children ’til I was hearing it in my sleep. Now I love it, but then……..

    Abou Ben Adhem
    BY LEIGH HUNT

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold:—
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the presence in the room he said,
“What writest thou?”—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered, “The names of those who love the Lord.”
“And is mine one?” said Abou. “Nay, not so,”
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still; and said, “I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men.”

The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blest,
And lo! Ben Adhem’s name led all the rest.

    Blessings fellow Saints.

  4. I was enlightened by the extra years God granted good King Hezekiah, however disappointed by the sinfulness and evil nature of his son, Manasseh, and grandson, Amon, who followed, and failed the Lord so desperately in their reigns. The constant push and pull between good and evil, right and wrong, is ever present. We are everything with You, but nothing without You, dear Lord! Enjoyed watching you, Ron and Ann yesterday, David! What a blessing to be baptized in the Jordan River. Amen!

“Some things cannot be done in a day. God does not make a sunset glory in a moment, but for days may be massing the mist out of which He builds His palaces beautiful in the west.”

“Some glorious morn–but when? Ah, who shall say?
The steepest mountain will become a plain,
And the parched land be satisfied with rain.
The gates of brass all broken; iron bars,
Transfigured, form a ladder to the stars.
Rough places plain, and crooked ways all straight,
For him who with a patient heart can wait.
These things shall be on God’s appointed day:
It may not be tomorrow–yet it may.”

    Blessings dearest and fellow saints!

  5. Thank you for the wonderful blog today and all if the pictures. Amazing tunnel wonder what tools were available to dig it! Was touched by the picture of the 89 yr. old gentleman’s baptism.
Hezekiah’s reign was glorious too bad his son did not follow in his steps.
The shadows going backwards drew my attention to how Amazing Our Lord is.

    Blessings and prayers saints.

  6. WOW!
