A long avenue with goat-headed sphinxes leading from the Karnak Temple complex to Luxor Temple, a distance of 1.2 miles (2km). The little figure under the chin of each statue is meant to be Ramesses II. At the time of Moses, the worship of many images, such as a golden calf, was common in Egypt.

Key Verse: Exodus 32:32

Yet now, if You will forgive their sin, but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written.

Moses heard from God and put His Word into action. Moses prayed and God heard him. The result was God’s judgment and mercy. This chapter records the response of Aaron and the people. Unfortunately, three or four generations later, the people once again practised the worship of other gods. Moses took a stand between God and His people as an intercessor. An intercessor identifies with God and His will, but must also identify with people. In His intercession, our Lord Jesus Christ did not pray, “Blot Me out of Your book,” but He prayed, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Jesus identified with us so completely that He felt abandoned by His Father while He was dying on the cross. Our sins are forgiven because of Jesus’ intercession.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Almighty God, because of Your Son and my Saviour, I do as Scripture tells me. I “come boldly to the throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:16), and the result is that I “obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” I pray this for others (use their names or in general) as well as for myself. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

My Grandfather, Allan Mainse, and his brother, Uncle Ed, had farms next door to each other. I heard them pray in a normal volume at family devotions, but I heard the stories that when they were younger, early in the morning, these brothers would meet at the line fence between their farms and raise their voices in prayer. It’s probably exaggerated, but I’ve been told that they could be heard a country concession away. I believe that their intercessory prayers bless us today. They bless our children, our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren. Someone asked me a while back, “Can you name all your children, their spouses, and your grandchildren?” I rattled their names off quickly. “How do you do that?” I was asked. My answer was that I pray for them all by name, not rapidly, but slowly with intensity, every morning before any of them awaken.

Yours to urge us all into more fervent intercession,

David

  1. I read these chapters and shake my head at how quickly they abandoned Moses and god. Even knowing how easily we /I turn from his word and his will ourselves. I wonder how Aaron escaped god’s wrath after all the wonders he participated in, he turned his back on his brother, and willingly made the calf for them to worship. Go figure.

  2. It’s hard (for me) to get my head around a person or people who would fashion a god and worship it, especially when they have heard from God and have seen results. I find that to be amazing. Having the Word (Spirit Breathed) is such a wonderful guide for us. May our Father open the eyes of those in Bulgaria.

  3. God has truly blessed you David, and rewarded you for your faithfulness. You have encouraged me to be more diligent in prayer. Thank you.

  4. I thank God for Godly parents who prayed for me daily They have passed on to be with Jesus now but I believe I am the woman that I am today because of their faithfulness in prayer Now I pray for my children ,grandchildren and great grandson each day

  5. Your intercession and prayer has always inspired me David. Thank you. In answer to your question SAH, No I do not know the language but the Roma people are receiving their very first copy of the Bible in their own language this year. Hope all of you saw the poem I wrote here last night. God bless you.

  6. Yes Ger, saw the poem and printed it out as a reminder to pray for you as you go on your service to Bulgaria, for The Lord.

I too pray for my children and grandchildren each day, not as many as you have Pastor David and Norma-Jean but it is a great privilege to bring them before The Lord as each have different needs. Praying for all children and adults going to places of education today.

Thank You Lord Jesus for your intercession on our behalf. We are truly blessed.

  7. I give praise to God all through each day, that’s easy. It’s hard for me to understand and do prayer. Thank you for showing me the importance of prayer for my family’s sake. It’s a start. I needed that. Oh, to be as bold as Moses and Jesus! Wow!

  8. Thank you David for this blog and your guidance through it.

I too pray for my children and grand-children every day for the Holy Spirit to lead them into the Kingdom of Light in their busy life in this world of darkness.

Thank you Ger for your poem may it strengthen you while you minister in Bulgaria. I pray many will hear and receive God’s truth.

  9. I have a prayer partner who will be 94 next month. We talk on the phone each evening and pray for our families. Because of this we have both grown in The Lord.
Thank you Pastor David for your wisdom and may I say have a safe trip to Florida.

  10. Thank you, David, for this daily blog, I have been following it for a long time and have been mightily blessed. I too pray daily for my six children, fourteen grandchildren and nine Great-grandchildren. It may take a long time, but it is well worth it. I also have many other friends and family I remember in prayer. We also have to remember to pray fervently for the leaders of our country and for countries all over the world in so much turmoil. My God keep our land free from all the strife. May The Lord richly you all today!

  11. Thank you David Mainse & all who help put this blog on. It is a daily blessing. I ask for prayers for family members with 2 wee girls that have moved to another city, into house, but their furniture & ‘stuff’ may not get there until Thursday. Nothing to cook with, etc. Sitting on floor eating cold pizza. I know God can change this.
    They know and love God.

  12. Der Ger I got goosebumps. Imageine! receiving the Word of God in a language that you can read! AMAZING! Someone mentioned it`s hard to imagine people building idols after knowing about God..I must admit, I do that and sometimes I nearly faint from my stupidity. I look at myself and wonder why did I do that! HOWEVER what I have also learned over the years is that I can go to God and tell Him I`m sorry for being such a miserable person and ask Him to forgive me. Many years ago I didn`t believe I was forgiven because people around me kept reminding me of stupidity! Eventaully I got that straightened out. But I do have another issue. I don`t tithe as I should! God has been bringing words into my life making me realize I have to change this status BUT I AM SCARED TO DEATH! I only have a pension and yes, I know that everything belongs to God in the first place and when we give our first offerings He returns it 10 fold but something is nagging in my brain. Please pray that I will do the right thing and I will know it is God guilding me. It`s funny but when He leads I feel great comfort! thank you for your prayers! I am so thankful for this blog! It is more than just words from David Manse. It is healing scripture. Blessings to ev eryone!

  13. Thanks Irene and Sah for your kindness. Sah, we are encouraged by the Word to trust the Lord in all things. I cannot take any credit at all for the publication of this new translation of the Bible but am allowed the privilege of distributing some. Praise God! Lord, we ask you to meet the need of Betty’s family members in most unusual ways. In Jesus Name. Amen!

  14. Thank you Ger & Irene for your prayers. God changed things quickly. They received a call & movers were to come the next morning. I praise & thank God.
