This 60-foot high colossal statue of Ramses II, carved from limestone, once stood upright but now lays on the ground in a pavilion for display. This statue had adorned the great temple of Ptah in Memphis, Egypt. Ramses the Great ruled for more than 60 years (circa 1279 to 1213 B.C.)

Key Verse: Genesis 40:8

And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please.”

Joseph had a living and daily relationship with God. Therefore, no matter what happened to him or where he found himself, he always had the consciousness of God’s enabling Presence. When the butler and baker told him of their troubling dreams, he was able to say with confidence that God would reveal His message to these imprisoned servants of Pharoah. “The Spirit of God” lived in Joseph. The two gifts of the Holy Spirit exercised by Joseph were, “the word of wisdom,” and “the word of knowledge.” Check out 1 Corinthians 12:1-8. These gifts were not just for the Church in Corinth, Greece, but for all people of all time who faithfully serve the God of Abraham and who “pursue love and desire spiritual gifts” (1 Cor. 14:1).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I believe Your Spirit lives in me. Please reveal to me Your thoughts so that I may respond with wisdom and knowledge for others, as well as myself. As I read and think Your thoughts as expressed in Your Word, may I be given the grace to express those thoughts when the opportunity presents itself, particularly in winning precious people to Christ. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

In preparation for this blog, I spend approximately half an hour reading the Word and meditating upon the thoughts expressed therein. Then I match that time in prayer and praise to God. A daily request is for “wisdom.” In James 1:5 it says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” I ask in faith without doubting and I know I receive from Him. However, the day before yesterday, at a time of some frustration, I attempted to correct a grandson in front of others. That was not wise. I must contact him as soon as I can reach him and ask forgivness, not for the correction, but for a lack of wisdom in not doing this privately, just between the two of us. This blog is challenging me. The Holy Spirit is still giving gifts of “wisdom.” I need all the help I can get.

Yours, praying for “Wisdom” for myself and for you also,

David

  3. I’ve just recently received the daily 100 words and it’s so interesting and heart-warming to know that you David, are so sensitive to the Holy Spirit in the things that go on in your day-to-day life and that you make the situation right (i.e. with your grandson) when you feel you need to. What a Godly example for all of us.

  6. I remember the story of Joseph, with his coat of many colors, from my childhood. God was certainly with Joseph thru all his years.
So kind of you to treat your grandson with thoughtfullness and love. I’m sure this would qualify as an “in as much as”.
May God protect Israel from evil and harm.
Love your daily guests on 100 Huntley St.
    Blessings.

  7. A verse stood out to me just a few days ago. “He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous; He is a buckler to them that walketh uprightly.”(Prov. 2:7).Lord, give us more wisdom and knowledge to help us to walk in your will. Amen.

  8. Thank you David for sharing this devotional & also your life & heart. I too pray for wisdom constantly. Sometimes in situations we make a wrong choice, but, praise God He is always there to gently show us the way through. You were prompted & recognised what you needed to do in the situation with your grandson. I’m sure your chat with him will forge a bond between you – kind of like the ‘stones’ you were talking about a few blogs ago. God bless you & thank you.

  9. Thank you, David, for your humbleness. You teach me everyday on this blog and I am especially grateful. Thank you, fellow saints, for the same. Your posts, experiences, encouragement and prayers are such a blessing. God is so good! Amen!

From Streams in the Desert1, Cowman, July 18:

“The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him” (2 Chron. 16:9).

God is looking for a man, or woman, whose heart will be always set on Him, and who will trust Him for all He desires to do. God is eager to work more mightily now than He ever has through any soul. The clock of the centuries points to the eleventh hour.

“The world is waiting yet to see what God can do through a consecrated soul.” Not the world alone, but God Himself is waiting for one, who will be more fully devoted to Him than any who have ever lived; who will be willing to be nothing that Christ may be all; who will grasp God’s own purposes; and taking His humility and His faith, His love and His power, will, without hindering, continue to let God do exploits. –C. H. P.

“There is no limit to what God can do with a man, providing he will not touch the glory.”

In an address given to ministers and workers after his ninetieth birthday, George Mueller spoke thus of himself: “I was converted in November, 1825, but I only came into the full surrender of the heart four years later, in July, 1829. The love of money was gone, the love of place was gone, the love of position was gone, the love of worldly pleasures and engagements was gone. God, God alone became my portion. I found my all in Him; I wanted nothing else. And by the grace of God this has remained, and has made me a happy man, an exceedingly happy man, and it led me to care only about the things of God. I ask affectionately, my beloved brethren, have you fully surrendered the heart to God, or is there this thing or that thing with which you are taken up irrespective of God? I read a little of the Scriptures before, but preferred other books; but since that time the revelation He has made of Himself has become unspeakably blessed to me, and I can say from my heart, God is an infinitely lovely Being. Oh, be not satisfied until in your own inmost soul you can say, God is an infinitely lovely Being!’ –Selected

I pray to God this day to make me an extraordinary Christian.
    –Whitefield.

    Blessings to all, today!

    • Oh Beverlee Kay, such ministering words! Thank you for all you have shared today. In the past 2 years my husband & I have been walking on a path that is contrary to the world. A path that has been bringing us closer to what George Mueller talks about. A path close to Jesus’ side each day & night. Long story short, we felt God’s leading so we sold our house & are renting, I have no particular work as it abruptly came to an end in 2012 but little jobs come & go, we have given away, sold or donated our extraneous ‘stuff’ & we are looking at getting rid of more. We have felt such a deep peace & joy in all of it & it has brought us to not worrying about finances or positions in business or having to own ‘things’. It’s been interesting to receive such deep peace about giving up & we are willing to continue to go farther as God leads. In the meantime, we are constantly learning new things from our dear Lord in His Word & from others. He has given us time now & there have been opportunities to share our faith where there wasn’t before. Then there are days when I get a bit ‘hinky’ about finances & start to think ‘I SHOULD’ be doing this or that to get a job where there is no job…you know, worry, doubt & all that goes with it. Then I have my morning devotions (prayer & Bible study), I read this blog & the Lord graciously brings me back to His promises Matthew Ch 6 in its entirety & Isaiah 41:10. Anyway, thank you again for all you have shared this morning. Blessings to you dear sister!

  10. How patiently Joseph waited for God’s leading. Sometimes that is difficult but we must trust because if we tun ahead of God we will miss out on a His greatest blessing. His plan for each of us is perfect, as He is Perfect!

I too have had to ask forgiveness of one of my grandchildren but I believe it is a witness to them that we are not above asking and we too are allowing God’s Spirit to lead. They are so precious, and we have an opportunity to be a light for Jesus when we spend time with them. Blessings fellow bloggers.

  11. Thank you David Mainse for sharing your humanness and compassion with us today. May God bless us all as we occasionally struggle with life’s challenges, and in our imperfection know Christ’s love, guidance and forgiveness. Amen.

  12. I realize these entries are recycled from entries made in 2012– with the occasional updated PS on the bottom, but perhaps whoever is posting these blogs should double check David’s personal words in order to avoid giving the impression something that happened two years ago happened in 2014, as in the case of David’s issue with his grandson. Or perhaps you should put a tag line to show when the his personal words were originally written. I suggest this because I know no one connected to this blog wants to mislead anyone even by accident and some newer readers to this blog might not realize these entries are not current and believe what happened two years ago happened now.
So it is with love I point out this to those who are in charge of this blog so they can consider what the Lord would have then do to make this clearer to newer readers. Have a blessed day.

  13. well now I am confused. you mean this blog is a duplicate of the first blog? if so, I have forgotten alot….in the meantime Lord I pray forthe Holy Spirit to grant me wisdom and knowledge….I am at a crossroads so to speak….in Jesus Name I Pray. AMEN

    • Sorry didn’t mean to confuse anyone. It is not an exact duplicate because David does add new material as a PS from time to time. However, I have been using the archive feature as means to get the benefit of comments I missed during the first round of these readings and that is why I noticed much of the material is used again— the benefit is the same, and as you stated most who read it don’t remember what they read two years ago– and David does add some new stuff to it at times, and the comments are current.

May the Lord guide you as you face this moment in time, leading down the path that will lead you deeper into God’s plan for your life
