COME LORD JESUS!

Today’s Reading: Matthew 24

A watchman stands on the wall in "Nazareth Village" - a special attraction that re-enacts life from first-century Nazareth.

Key Verse: Matthew 24:42

Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour our Lord is coming.

This chapter contains one of the most detailed descriptions of events that lead up to the second coming of Jesus. Jesus even gives us a copy of His statement to the world immediately after His return. World leaders and reporters are anticipating those first Words. They are, “I was hungry and you gave me food,” and so on. They ask, “When?” He answers, “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it unto Me.” How important is this, visiting the sick and the prisoners? You decide! Obedience to Christ is “watching.” What will you do today to “watch?” Reading the Word is watching. Daily prayer is watching. Be ready!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, please grant me Your amazing grace to live constantly expecting Your return. May I show my expectation by my service to You by serving others. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

My wife, Norma-Jean, reminds me every day, “Jesus may come today!” Throughout the years in the leadership of an international ministry, when it came to establishing the budget, I would ask the team for their spending estimates. I required them to categorize all their needs under three categories – “Absolutely essential” (without these needs the ministry would die), “Essential” and “Necessary.” If funds were not there we would cut the “Necessary.” If still the money was not there we would cut the “Essential.” Please join me now in deciding what is “Absolutely essential” in that most practical matter of “Watching” for His return. Don’t be deceived by date setters. Jesus said, “Only the Father knows.” For what and for whom should we watch? Thoughtful Biblical answers to that question is found in the book, Blood Moons Rising! Don’t miss the opportunity to get this excellent Crossroads book of the month. The author is Dr. Mark Hitchcock, a pastor who was a practicing attorney before entering the ministry. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the Dallas Theological Seminary. Mark is on the 100 Huntley Street telecast throughout the month of June. Below is a picture of the cover of this outstanding teaching book (click here for information on getting the book for a donation to Crossroads…or you can call 1-800-265-3100).

Serve Christ today!

  1. Posting 100words.ca on my facebook wall, today, for you and God’s ministry, David Mainse. I mention the blog constantly to others. It is life transforming. We must pay attention to Jesus’ profound message in Matthew 24: 42: Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour our Lord is coming. His second return is coming. With current events of ISIS insurgents and Iraq, taking place, Blood Moons Rising is unfolding as we speak. We must keep living the word as faithful servants, being kind and loving to one another, spreading the word, speaking and living the truth. Quoting Norma-Jean, “Jesus may come today!” We must be ready, indeed!

“We have to recognize that sin is a fact of life, not just a shortcoming. Sin is blatant mutiny against God, and either sin or God must die in my life. The New Testament brings us right down to this one issue–if sin rules in me, God’s life in me will be killed, if God rules in me, sin in me will be killed. There is nothing more fundamental than that. The culmination of sin was the crucifixtion of Jesus Christ, and what was true in the history of God on earth will also be true in your history and mine–that is, sin will kill the life of God in us. We must mentally bring ourselves to terms with this fact of sin. It is the only explanation why Jesus Christ came to earth, and it is the explanation of the grief and sorrow of life.” My Utmost For His Highest, Oswald Chambers, June 23

It doesn’t get any clearer than that. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31. Blessings dear saints.

  2. Christ gives us many signs and events to watch for, many of which can clearly be seen to be happening today more than ever. Yet, the explicit message is that we will not know the day or hour, so be prepared. May we never take this life for granted.

  3. What a privilege we have to watch for the Lord’s Second Coming through prayer, reading the Word, 100words.ca and doing service to others. Thank you David for helping us to be ready. It occurred to me that the Apostle Paul was not only preaching but testifying about his conversion experience and we can all do that. “…Be of good cheer, Paul:for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.(Acts 23:11). Have got a copy of “Blood Moons Rising”. Thank you Beverlee for posting more inspiration today and will remember you in prayer and also Sarah. Blessings everyone!

  4. “Day of Discovery” TV program (on CTS) discussed this scripture yesterday & pictures of the piles of rocks (from the temple) were shown. It is hard to imagine how such rocks (stones) were ever moved way back then. Pray, watch, work. Open our understanding & increase our mental capabilities Lord. Keep us strong (stronger). Amen.

  5. Powerful Words of Christ today. He likens himself to a thief in the night… His second coming will be when the world least expects it… Are we ready?

From verse 35 in today’s reading of Christ’s Holy Words: “Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will by no means pass away”.
When we brethren are with our Lord in Heaven, life won’t be boring… there will still be major changes in the known universe as well as in Heaven…

God bless the reading of His Word today! Amen!

  6. Watching and waiting. What a glorious day that will be!!!!

Thank you Pastor David and fellow bloggers for fresh bread once more.

I pray the words of my Saviour daily will penetrate my very being and others will see Him living in me. Reading the scriptures daily strengthens me for what is ahead. Prayers for those who need it today.

  7. “Watch and pray” what an important challenge Jesus gave us!!!

I am awaiting the book “Blood Moon Rising” and looking forward to reading it.

I have distributed all the “blog” notices I had and those to whom I gave them are on your blog. Also am pleased to share this blog with others.
